Hi I'll be starting the IB Diploma next February in Australia, and I would appreciate it if someone could help me with my subject selections. You see, I really want to do a subject like Geography or Economics but people keep advising me to take Double Sciences (Biology and Chemistry) instead. And I'm not really a science-y person. So should I be taking double sciences at HL just to keep my options open for university? So far, I'm stuck between: English A HL/SL Maths SL Japanese B SL Chemistry HL/SL Biology HL/SL Economics HL Geography HL and ESS! ( which i really want to do cause I actually find it interesting ) I'm so confused and the college needs my subject selecti…

Hi there:) I chose Chinese Lit SL, Maths SL, Econ SL and English B HL, Chem HL and Bio HL, but I'm struggling in Maths SL... I want to go to chemistry field in HK universities and I'm good at chem, but is it OK to switch it to Maths studies? Will it affect my admission to universities? I can definitely get a 7 in maths studies, I mean. Thank you in advance:)

My IB journey started yesterday, and already I am noticing something fishy: My French class is EXTREMELY easy. My school's IB program was known as the hardest among the IB schools in the area, and someone I knew who currently attends to grade 10 Pre-IB here told me that last year her French marks were in the 70s, and I know for a fact she was at least my current level last year. However so far my French teacher only started to cover present tense, and when I asked her at what time of the year would we be learning tenses like Subjonctif, Passe Simple and Passe Anterieur she said those tenses are not even in the grade 9 IB curriculum. Is that true? PS My school's IB program…

Hi, i am meant to be starting ib on Monday morning which is in a few days from now. I have chosen to take HL - Economics, English Lit and Psychology and SL Maths, italian ab and ESS Basically my problem is i really don't want to take ESS as i don't really feel as i will do well nor will i enjoy it. However my college is only offering visual arts SL instead of it. My art skills aren't fantastic but i have heard that my teacher is fantastic, my question is how hard is Visual Arts and should i consider doing it? Thank you for taking the time to read this post

So up until recently, I fully intended to take Biology HL as my only HL course that I could choose to take. I've never been much of a science person, but as my only other option was Music Theory HL I thought that it would be best to take biology. However, everybody's been telling me that music theory is so much easier than biology, and I was wondering what everybody else thinks? I didn't do super well in pre-IB biology, and I have had music training. I'm no longer in piano, but I did take lessons for five years and took several music theory tests. I didn't do super well on them, but then again I never really studied....taking Music Theory HL would mean that I'd have…

(I realize I already asked a question like this but I want to rephrase that and clear a few more things up) INFO: I go to school in Alberta, Canada. My high school offers Biology HL, Chemistry SL, English and History HL, Math SL, and Spanish Ab (this is the language I'm taking, though my school offers others). My current schedule does not contain IB Chemistry or Biology which at my school is an all or nothing deal, you either take them both or neither (this is the same with English and History). In pre-IB I managed the sciences with above 80%, is this something I'd be able to keep up if I were to take IB in gr.11 or is this too low? English and History as well as Math a…

Hi! I am trying out for the IB program, and I have to take this lengthy exam and fill out an application form. I was wondering if anyone who had to go through the same process could give me some suggestions before the test? Is it true I have to drop all my extracurricular activities when I get into IB? I like having extracurriculars for four days a week. I also like maintaining an 85 average. Is this achievable?

Hi! The high school in my area is really bad, and I have always dreamt of going to a high school where there is a lot of homework, tests, and all that fun stuff. I researched the different high school programs they offer in my area, and i liked IB the most. The high school i would go to would be Bayview S.S, which had the Pre-IB program too. To get in, you have to do an entrance exam. What should I study? i know they test you in three categories/subjects: math, French, and language, but i don't know what i should study. For example, in French should I focus on verbs or vocabulary?

In a few months, our school is to host testing for IBDP, which I will be attempting to get into. What I'd like to know is what I need to do to prepare and exactly how hard the test is to be. Also, I'd like to know if you need a 95% average on the previous year to get in, as I've been told by several people. If not, then is there an average you need to achieve to get in? I'd really appreciate any tips at all.

Hey from the U.S., I'll be a junior doing the IB program in the fall and I have ABSOLUTELY No idea what I'm getting myself into with IB. I am extremely frightened and don't know what to expect. I've been informed about the basics of IB, what it is, how it works, ect. however no one has offered me insight into how hard, time consuming, stressful, the program actually is. I know much of this depends on the students' abilities but could someone provide their own personal experiences with IB? Thank you!

First time posting Hi, I'm entering the fifth year of my MYP program and aiming for a computer science major at an American college. Recently I've heard that chances of acceptance are improved if people take HL math and physics for any engineerin courses. However, I'm not really all that good at math and haven't tried a hand at physics yet, but I've managed to create three java games in the short time I started learning programming and I'm enjoying the area so far. ...Which brings me to my question(s). Are the chances of college entry still acceptable even if I take SL math and/or physics? (btw, right now there isn't a computer science class available at my school) Also…

Hi! I'm going to be going into pre-IB in September and I'm wondering if there is any way I can prepare myself a little. Lots of people say that pre isn't actually that hard and that no preparation is necessary, but I am currently stuck in a Facebook-less, YouTube-less, and friend-less country with nothing to do. I've been reading up on cognitive science, but even that gets boring when you do it for four hours straight, so I figured that I would study something that I would be using in the next year. So is there anything that could possibly help? Is there anything that you wish the teachers had spent more time on, or that you wish you had looked up before hand? Were there …

Are you about to become an IB student or are you considering becoming one? Here is a preview of how IB can look from the inside (watch video). My IB group in Mexico made this video which shows how was IB for us from 2011 to 2013. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xy7f1tEF0zw We had a great experience. We became a really united group and we helped ourselves survive the hardest moments. We had fun too.

Hi there! I'm going into IB next year and the courses I have selected I feel pretty good about. Bio HL Literature HL Econ HL Math SL History SL Spanish SL I've been touring universities this summer in order to have a bit better knowledge of where I want to go.
