  1. Hi everyone, I have a question regarding choosing subjects. a bunch of my school mates want to not study and subject from group 3 (ITGS, Business, Economy... etc.). instead they want to take two subjects from group 5 (Math and Computer science) and two subjects from group 4 (Physics and maybe chemistry) PLUS two languages (group 1 & 2). So is it possible to not study any subject from group 3?? Will the IB organization allow that?? thanks a lot for the help

  3. Heeey there fellow has-to-take-classes-for-two-programs-simaltaneously person! *high five* I always knew we weren't the only insane school =D Don't you feel soooo educated now? /sarcasm (Although I'm lucky cuz we only have to take German HL and English HL and we don't have to take the final exams for either; but most of my friends are still struggling till next week haha.) What other subjects do you have? Can you at least choose those? That would be a dream coming true (I wouldn't have taken social studies which is my final exam 2morrow).. we have absolutely no right to choose anything.. but
  4. I guess my school beats all the other schools.. Firstly we don't have anything called pre-IB or any sort of course that prepares you for IB... you receive your shock in your junior year.. and you fully understand the IB program by your senior year (hopefully).. Secondly, choosing subjects or even levels isn't possible.. you have to take Biology HL, Chemistry HL, Math SL, Arabic A1 HL (even if you suck at that language), English A2 SL and business & managements SL.. CAS is a mess.. I only knew about the fact that we write reflections about the activities by March of my senior year (I had
  5. For your English rationale there are three questions that you should be answering: 1. your objectives and how you have attempted to achieve them. (like mine was to show an aspect of the personality of one of the characters and to allow her to express her feelings and justify her action through her diary.. I achieved that by making the diary more like a trial where the character is defending herself in front of herself) 2. specific examples showing how this was done (I pointed out the language used in the diary.. It was short direct sentences that where usually used in that play when the charac
  6. Exactly.. :shifty: I should be studying for my final test 2morrow (another curriculum other than IB) Next Poster loves chocolates..
  7. Crystal.. Summer or Winter??
  8. Sand.. Me two I've another national curriculum to finish by the 7th of June.. Which is really important if I want to get a scholar ship.. :shifty: Chocolate Cake or Ice Cream Cake??
  9. What you are saying is correct.. This is one way that plants do take up some minerals but not K+ ions.. It's clearly mentioned is some IB books (IB study guide by Andrew Allott + a green book by Peeters from the IPID press) that potassium, phosphate and nitrates are actively transported into the roots due to there low concentration in the soil.. They do generally accept different answers.. I hope this year they will accept different interpretations to the graphs..
  10. K+ ions are mostly taken by the root via active transport but sometimes it can be absorbed by simple diffusion so the answer is active transport.. for the importance of vascular bundle I'm not really sure but this is what I wrote: if a plant has the bundle then it can grow taller since it ca transport food + water from one place to the other. In addition by being able to transport stuff then some organs can differentiate to produce sugar (source) while other can turn into storage organs (sink). Thirdly I said that both Xylem & phloem are cover with legnin which is strong and contributes to
  11. The clonal selection was D i don't really remember. The answer is about a specific B or T cells being cloned.. When the macrophage engulfs a pathogen it presents a part of its antigen so a specific B or T cell would recognize it and clone itself several time and that is called clonal selection..
  12. The amino acid question is polar, because in membrane bounded proteins the non-polar amino acids are on the outside in order to interact with the hydrophobic part of the membrane and the inside of the protein is polar in order for polar molecule to pass.. The plasmid question is a circular DNA and not chromosome because its only a piece of DNA that bacteria exchange and it isn't a chromosome..
  13. I remember that question I choose germinal cells because: in the option we had sperm and sertoli cells and both are found in the middle of the sminefrus tubule and that is not where the arrow was pointing.. the other two options were Leydge cells and germinal cells.. the leydge cells are found in the basement membrane and that again wasn't where the arrow is pointing and germinal cells are found at the edge of the tubule and that is where the arrow was pointing..
  14. That was tricky question.. if you continued reading the sentence in choice 'C' it says it promotes flowering in long-day plants during LONG NIGHT.. you cannot have both a long day and a long night which makes option 'C' wrong.. the same thing did apply for option 'A' (short-day + short night) .. WRT option D & B I don't really remember which one was right.. the answer was it promotes flowering in long-day plant during short nights..
  15. P1- Easy.. I did a good job over there... (Y) P2- was also easy except for question 1 section A.. the one about anti-fever drugs, I found it weird but it was doable.. other than that the paper was excellent and I loved section B.. :julie:
