Hey all, I've been having a lot of trouble writing the 45 minute essays that are assigned in HL History (year 1). Does anyone have any tips or strategies, or possibly well written exemplars, that I could use to improve my style of writing? I think I end up giving too much narrative and not giving as strong of an argument as I should be, but any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Hi everyone, I am student in IB1 who has to sumbit my choice of EE subject and RQ. I was really intrested in the Romanov family relations with the britsh but i dont have much knowledge on the part of history. I was thinking of doing the RQ on the impact the ignorance of the Romanov cry for help had on the image of the British but my teachers are saying its to broad and I am not sure on what basis i can narrow it down. Im also having trouble finding sources, can anyone reccomed any sites i can find the resources or anything? Thank you

Dear fellow IB history students My initial History IA research question is "How did China affect Korea by getting involved in the Korean War"? However, I find it very difficult to answer this question, so I've changed the research question to "How deeply(To what extent) was the USA involved in the Korean War?" Hi!!! i´m starting to do research for my IA history essay and i have chosen to do research based on a question i found here which is To what extant did the Polaris A2 test during Operation Dominic influence the US administration´s secret concessions during the Cuban Missile Crisis? but i need help with the research does anyone know any good resources that could help me write my IA on this question or does anyone have any other IA question that is good and is easy to find resources on. 😥

I know that the essay is suppose to be Intro Thesis statement argument 1 argument 2 argument 3 (continue till you are happy with the number of arguments) conclusion However, my question is mainly centered around the body part, how should they be formatted? Should it be in terms of for example, Lets say I'm arguing that causes and effects of the Mexican-American war (I'm not doing this but just an example) Would for example I follow this way for each argument? My EE RQ is due soon and my question so far is "To what extent did WWII lead to the decolonization of India?" But I've been told that's not specific enough. Can someone help making it more specific? I thought of "To what extent did WWII lead to the British Decolonization of India by 1947?" But I dont know.

Hello, For long story short, I'm currently trying to come up with an EE question. I really would like to do something on the feminist movement in the 60s, but I don't really know how to formulate a question. For some extra context, I was maybe going to try to focus specifically on the reproductive rights aspect of the feminist movement (ex. increased access to birth control, abortion, etc.) but I don't know if focusing on an aspect like that would make my essay too narrow? If anyone could help that would be really appreciated because as I'm standing now i'm stuck at a roadblock.

it's already mid-august, and i haven't gotten much done (if anything) for my history ee. i am focusing on the vietnam war; my question is "to what extent was the ho chi minh trail a significant factor to the victory of north vietnam" i've been looking up articles and such for debates and different perspectives, but maybe i haven't been searching hard enough because there is practically nothing that satisfies my question, which has started to make me more and more anxious about completing the ee. i can't get a hold of my supervisor to help me narrow down my question and guide my quest

I need some urgent guidance regarding my IB subject choices for next year!!! This is what I've entered; English Lit A HL Economics HL History HL Maths SL Environmental systems and societies SL Mandarin ab initio SL However, I still have the opportunity to make changes so I thought I'd ask for some thoughts on them before I finalise. Hi, So IAs are coming up, and I really need to choose a topic. I've come up with a few already, like I'm really interested in feminism, and I was thinking perhaps something to do with Barbies. I've spoken with my supervisor already, but he says that I should give him a more focused topic idea. I want to do my EE in History about the Fall of the Berlin Wall. Maybe look into the international response, or compare two responses (e.g. China's vs Britain's). Hello, I was wondering if historical interpretations and direct quotations of historians are essential in an essay (paper 2 and 3) for an "evaluation of different perspectives". Sometimes I find it hard to find historical interpretations for everything (plus, do you know how I can find them more easily if they are not in the textbooks?) Thank you in advance!

Hi everyone, I am researching for my history EE, and I am having troubles with finding the evidence for an event. The event consists in a conversation between the king and Mussolini, which is mentioned in multiple books but without any reference to a primary source, but always to other secondary sources (other historians' books ) or no reference at all. My supervisor was bemoaning this, however it seems fair that there is no "transcript" of a private conversation. Is it common\acceptable? How can I back this event better? Thank you in advance -
Hello! I am a rising 11th grader and initially selected the courses: HL History, HL Geography, HL English LL, SL Spanish LL, SL Biology, and SL Math Applications and Interpretation. I am considering to switch from HL Geography to HL Biology, and change to SL Math Analysis. However, I would then have two very content heavy HL courses (Bio and History), which I have heard very bad things about. How do-able is it to do these courses together?
