I'm doing full IB next year and class registration is due next week. I've already got most of my classes figured out (Spanish SL, Literature HL, History HL, Math HL) but I need to decide which science and art class to take: Biology SL vs. Chemistry SL vs. Physics SL /// Visual Arts HL vs. Choral Music HL Last year as a freshman, I had an integration of Physics, Chemistry, and Astronomy so I wouldn't consider it as a complete year of any one of those subjects. I'm currently taking a complete year of Biology and I hear that colleges like to see three years of the same science subject? Anyways, overall, science is definitely my weakest subject. Should I go with Biology, …

Hi guys, I'm planning to take 4 HL subjects next year and I'm being compromised with my choices. I plan on either taking a science-based course in college as I plan on becoming a research scientist, but I'm also considering law, although I'm borderline with that idea. What I drafted for my subjects are: HL Chemistry HL Physics HL English Language and Literature HL Mathematics SL Psychology French ab initio Now I know it looks like suicide but I'm confident that I'll pass the course with flying colours, pardon my arrogance. I'm currently finishing the IGCSE course, and I'm taking the same subjects in IB, sans psychology and french (although I have self taught mysel…

Can anyone explain what is meant by an "essay-based" IB sbject? I've heard the term being thrown around, but I'm not entirely sure what it means. Could anyone possibly list the possible subjects that are essay based? Yayyyy

Hi there. Does anybody out there have a sort-of have a recommendation for subject choices? I'm trying to figure out which courses I should take but I don't even have an idea as to what I want to do in the future, so I would like to keep options wide as possible. I've considered law, but I'm not entirely sure. For the subjects I want/have to do are: Psychology HL Math SL French AB Initio English Language & Literature HL Chemisty HL I'm not entirely sure what my final option should be since the rest of the subjects I have to choose from are kind of crummy. (They are: Biology, Physics, ITGS, ESS, DT, Art, Geography, Economics and Music) I know for a fact that I do no…

Hi! I'm going into IB after summer, and I am struggling deciding subjects. So far I've chosen: Norwegian A HL English B HL Economics HL Biology SL Mathematical Studies SL I need to choose between French B SL or History SL. I don't really any of the subjects, and I have little interest in them, really.. Which one would I be better of choosing? Which is easier to get a 6 or 7 in? In Norway, we have grades from 1-6, and I get a strong 5 with little effort.

Hi! A Pre IB student from Finland here! It's my first post ever on an internet forum so I apologize in advance if I make some kind of a mistake. I'll soon have to decide on my IB subjects, and I'm finding it hard (even after multiple hours of searching the internet) to choose the most useful combination for my future plans. I'm planning on going to study either economics or architecture, so I'd like to have a set of subjects that'll be useful for whichever path I later decide on. The first four subjects I'm rather certain on taking, though I'd like to hear your opinion on them: Finnish Literature SL (my first language) Global Politics SL Economics HL Math HL English…

Hi! Hey everyone! In a couple of weeks I need to submit my course choices for the DP programme and I'm still stuck on what to choose as my Group 4 subject. For the first semester of Grade 10, we have to stick with the regular curriculum. So I got accepted into IB yesterday and have received my course selection form along with it. However, it's really confusing... It has been divided into three components: (a) Math 20 IB (that's an option for some reason)?, or a 5- credit course, or two 3- credit courses. (b) One 5- credit course or two 3- credit courses. © A second language, or a 5 credit course, or two 3- credit courses. So according to this, I can take either 6 (3- credit) courses, or just 3 (Math 20, Second Language, and a 5- credit) courses? How does this work? In addition, where is the room for core classes if I…

So next year I will be going into grade 9 and I will be starting pre-IB right now I have to decide whether to do extended french or not. Taking extended french would mean I would have to take french class, geography in french, and theology in french ( It is a catholic school). Then in grade 10 I would also have to do history in french. I'm a decent french student but I'm afraid extended french paired with pre-IB would be difficult to manage. I tend to procrastinate... a lot.The way the extended french program works is that I will do all my extended french courses in the first 2 years of high school then do all the IB courses in the last 2 years. So I wouldn't have any ext…

Hi there, I am currently taking Spanish I in my middle school. I am wondering if I should take 'Spanish I' in my Pre-IB High school course or should I take 'French I'? Is the Spanish I in Pre-IB an extension of what I learned in Middle school or is that going to be tougher? Also since I do not know French to begin with will it be tougher if I take French in Pre-IB? Hey, so I'm a sophomore and choosing IB Diploma courses for the fall. Hello, I am going to start of with the IBDP in less than 6 months and I need some suggestions, opinions, and advice regarding my subject selection. I am interested in science and math. I loathe history and geography (no offence to ppl who like it). The commercial world too fascinates me. Kind of an odd combination but that's just me. Hey guys, yes... I highly doubt that, oh let's say, World History HL for Grade 10 (Pre- IB) is the same as World History HL for Grade 11 or 12. So... I write up an essay one day and my course teacher insists to edit it before I submit. She made A LOT of little corrections- 60% of which I do not agree with. However, another teacher (one of my Sciences) does the same and tells me not to change anything, because apparently "its amazing". For some reason, both teachers will be marking it... (including my Science teacher WTH). What should I do? Should I blindly accept the edits that my core teacher suggested, or stick with what I already have? It's all so confusing and I'm so lost!

As the title would suggest. A little background info: I am a languages kind of guy. I am bad at math. Not that I don't get good marks in math - well, my marks aren't exactly the best - but I am bad in that I don't learn math. I really just memorize the theorems and the ways to solve a specific type of question. However, I don't know which one I should take as the HL course. I, too, have been having trouble deciding what subjects to take. I'm in 10th grade Pre-IB in Sweden, but I'm a native English speaker. I'm hoping to study animal sciences, zoology, veterinary medicine, or something similar after graduating - but I often change my mind about these kinds of things so I'm trying to decide the perfect combination that will leave be prepared for a science-based degree but flexible enough to be useful if I change my mind. Hello all! :-) This is my first post here. I am wondering what to expect on the admissions exam for the Middle Years program. I haven't the slightest idea. What can I do to prepare for it? Also, just looking for some advice on first day jitters. I've never been in public school....never, not even in kindergarten or something. And I'm going in a public school for the first time...and in high school. Gulp. So I'm about 15% excited, and 85% seriously nervous. I'm not the best at socializing with other kids, even if I want to, so looking for some advice. What can I expect first day? Any tips? Thank you. :-)

Hey, I just registered so sorry if I'm posting this in a wrong topic (also i realised that I misspelled procrastination in my name) This is my first year in the PreDP program, and to be honest I'm very disappointed. When I got into the PreDP program I wanted to have a 5 or a 6 in every subject there is, however it has resulted in a couple of 5's and everything else a 4 (nothing less). I should mention that this is my first year talking English in every subject etc. What am I …

Hey people!~ I'm a student who did extremely well in all my school years, except for grade seven, which is the year I haven't really focused on. Is it alright for my report card to have many 90s as well as 80s with the exception of 70s on Computer? Does anybody know the "standard" report card that students who want to get in should have? How many sections are there, and how much time do we get for each section? Sorry for hammering you all with questions...

Now before I begin, this is a long story so I will not be telling all of it. So last week I have been called to the IB coordinators office for making a joke bomb threat. She said that Im suspended from school for 10 days until a meeting from the County Board is held to determine if I stay in the IB MYP program or get kicked out.
