Hello. I've been trying to find a topic and research question for my extended essay but I have been unable to do. I have found an experimental technique in the calorimeter which measures energy content/calories and I want to measure energy contents in different foods but I do not know what I should investigate specifically and expand on this. I don't want it to be as simple as "as x increases, y increases". Testing out different foods and seeing which one(s) have the higher calories is way too simple and I'm basically stuck..Please help!

Hi, I wanted to do an IA investigating the relationship between either: - the refractive index of a material and Brewster's angle, or - the wavelength of incident light and Brewster's angle I am not sure how to even measure the wavelength of incident light, and to calculate Brewster's angle I would also need the wavelength of the refracted light which I don't know how to measure either. I also don't know how to measure refractive index, so I'm kinda stuck there. I was wondering if someone could help me find a source which would explain how to carry out an experiment to find

I don't know if I should choose Chemistry HL, I was a Core IGCSE student and I'm not very good at chemistry or an overall intelligent student , I was in the top 5 but as a class we are not very good anyway.Should i choose it i have until the 3rd of November to choose my options. Hi, I am currently in the process of selecting a chemistry IA topic. I want to do something in the realm of environmental science. So far, I have the idea of investigating the effect of benzolphane on the bleaching of corals? Is there any way to replicate that in a lab setting, and in regards to chemistry concepts? Or, are there any other ideas around this topic? Thanks!

Title. Science doesn't exactly relate to my intended major (economics) so I'm really just choosing whichever is the easiest one at SL. Also, I'm not considering chemistry to be an option cause I'm learning it right now and absolutely hate it.

What is Nature of Science? It seems like the IB is beginning to ask more and more questions on it in the exams. Is there anything that I need to know or understand for it? I know that you can just use some common sense and logic to answer these types of questions, but is there any way to prepare?

Hi, I'm looking for an EE topic right now, but I'm not sure where and how to start. Personally I want to do something related to artificial intelligence, but I'm not sure if that would be a good idea. I've heard people say it's easier to do an ee on World History, but I don't think I'll be able to do a good job with social since it's one of my weaker subjects. 😅 Also do you have to choose a topic that relates to an ib course you're taking for the ee? Dear all. I am a grade 11th student and recently our school informed about EE. I am very interested in cosmetics so I hopefully want to study the science behind cosmetics at the university, and now I am looking for the topic of EE on something about cosmetic science. is the first year my school offers ESS as a science and I chosed this subject for my EE (a bit crazy I may acept). So like is the first year there is no examples for an EE in ESS. I would love to know if any of you know where I can find any example for it. Hey So for my Bio IA I conducted a T-Test and I got a value of 0.08, which is HUGE. All the times I've done T-Tests I've gotten values less than 0.05 that allowed me to say that my values were statistically significant, but now I'm worried. Should I not include the T-Test in my IA?

Hello everyone! I'm going into the 10th grade this year, and am planning on doing the IB program 11th-12th grade. In the future I am hoping to be a pediatrician, so I was looking online for what IB classes you should take in order for medical school. Most sites said Biology and Chemistry HL. I like chemistry a lot and am hoping to HL in that, but I'm not so sure about biology. So, first of all, would HL biology be necessary for medical school? Also, if I did do HL bio, would it be important to take biology this year too? (Pre-IB) I'm currently signed up to do physics, and I did biology in 8th

Long story short, I did a bio extended essay, messed up the experiment, instead of isolated colonies I got a single weird blob. No data collected. Failed the experiment. Am I allowed to use external data to support my arguments?

Okay, so our biology teacher is a noob and we need help. She doesn't know what she's doing at all. She gives us the same tests that she gives her standard biology classes and we haven't covered the whole book at all. What do I do? I know for a fact that whatever she does won't help. So how do I save myself? What can I do to teach myself one of my least favorite subject? Please help me. I am dying and I don't want to fail.
