Anyone know how to program smartphone apps? I've had this great idea for a long time now!

So for a long time now, I've had this idea for a unique puzzle game (around 10 years). Before, I started learning how to program in Objective-C on my own, but eventually had no time to continue, and forgot how. Anyways, I'm looking for a programmer and perhaps graphics design (Android and iOS) that could propel this idea forward, + for CAS, + we can make money! I can guarantee that the idea for this game is pretty neat, and with effort and commitment, will be successful. The game itself and the graphics are pretty basic, so you don't need to be an expert to program or design it. If interested, add me on Facebook: Mit Svn. It would be a great experience!

From what I have heard, there are many countries in need of a cheap irrigation system that works well. I believe we can develop one. As of now I know little in the area of irrigation, but I have taken a few physics classes. This summer I need volunteers to develop a cheap irrigation system that works well. As of now no progress has been made, and we must start from scratch. I do not know how we can get Cas hours for this. I do not even know if we can get gas hours for this, but I do know one thing. If this works, we can help all of humanity. Surely that is worth something. Success is not expected, but we must try, and give effort. If you feel you can help please reply, o…

I am currently in grade 11, and out of curiosity and boredom of everyday life I created this project called Project Dropship. >Project Dropship is a concept design of a quadcopter drone that can lift and transport heavy objects up to approximately 50-75 kilograms. The drone itself is called Multi-Purpose Aerial Heavy-lifting Drone, or as we call it the MAD. The MAD is unmanned and controlled wirelessly, with features such as live-feed video, GPS system, removable payload design, night flying, and much more. Its main objectives are search and rescue, disaster relief, scientific research, and supply transportation. This can save a lot of energy, space, and time, and can…

Hello IBSurvival forum goers! I recently had a meeting with my CAS supervisor, and he was worried about me running because of my possible running-induced asthma. After the meeting, he called my parents, and mentioned that he wants to see my action be more goal oriented and more like a sport than just running. My mother mentioned that we have a Kinect and a lot of games for it, including a workout fitness training game as well as the usual Kinect sports kind of games that are, well, more like games than workout. He made it sound like this was okay. What do you think? Are games on Kinect action? Should I stick with the fitness training 'game' or can I actually set goals for…

Hi I was wondering is it possible for me to start collecting CAS hours the summer before IB begins? As IB is very time consuming, I thought this would be a great way to lower my work load. I would still continue to do cas over the two years though. Would it still be okay?

I participated in a political demonstration exactly a month ago. Since I need more hours for action, I remembered that I went to a protest. Can it qualify as a CAS activity (since it achieves a couple of the outcomes like global issues, ethics, and commitment)? Or is it too sensitive to be acknowledged by the IB people? Thanks for your time

Right now, I'm pretty ahead in my CAS hours--a total of 88! But I do indeed have doubts: Should juniors even be this ahead? Or is it likely that I'm doing something wrong? One of my first activities was the Heart Walk in Atlanta last year. I did over and hour--probably two--of walking a nice 5 kilometers. But my adviser gave me 10 for Action. This probably included the planning for the event, but still, it's on my mind. What should I do? My school uses the ManageBac software. So does this mean that I don't have to fill out the CAS Summary/Log Form?

So, after summer, I'm starting my first year of IB, and I already started planning on what I'll be doing. Currently, I'm attending a martial arts class, Ju-Jutsu to be precise. It will count as "action" only right? Also, is fanfiction writing considered as "creativity"? If not, will I be able to chalk it off as a novel writing? For service, I'll be working as a volunteer at my town's activity center, so here I have no questions.

Hi, so im not really sure what to do, because my CAS Advisor just told us we have to do our CAS project with other CAS members for it to count. I was planning on singing for Creative, participating in school sports for action, and teaching the other kids in choir the music and notes for service but this new rule or whatever is throwing that out of the window. Help please?

Ok so at my school the CAS coordinator doesn't allow us to drop out of CAS but will always let us join regardless of the time in the term/semester I mean it makes sense to not let people drop out but recently I had some problems because I was in a service and a creativity CAS and I don't need any more service hours but I need creativity... And the problem is I get home at 6 pm 3 times a week because of this and I need more time to study I asked to drop my service CAs and he basically told me to suck it up.. Is this how it is in your school Just wondering?

For CAS, I am going to be writing a novel with a friend and using my fanficiton for creativity. My CAS coordinator said that writing is fine but I am not sure who I should and can use as my supervisor. Therefore my question is, who can I use as a supervisor for my fanfiction?

Hi everybody, Our school, THINK Global School, just finished up a term in Hyderabad, India, that included some pretty amazing CAS opportunities. We partnered with a local school in Kondikal village, and over the course of the term we were able to get to know the children that lived here better while we repainted their school and built a boundary wall. Here are some photos from our time there: http://thinkglobalschool.org/service-activities-in-india/ I'd be really interested to read about service work that others have done in foreign countries, and to see if anyone has had the chance to visit India. It's an amazing country, and I think that all of our students got a lot o…

Hi guys, Hope you IB year is going well! I am pretty much done with m CAS hours but I still need 30ish hours of action, I only have like 15. I was looking at ideas on a random website and it said you could get hours working as a camp counselor. This threw me off because I thought you couldn't use paid jobs as CAS. After further reading this is only stated for service hours which should be common sense but I was wondering if this is true. I work at the YMCA as an after school camp counselor and I can tell you now that there is a lot of action being done. I have actually become a better athlete from it. So I was wondering what you guys thought. I am going to ask my TOK teac…

Hello there. So I am starting CAS this year and I know what i could do for action and service. However, I am having difficulty in what I should do fofr creativity. I have this idea of making school bags, sports bags and other little DIY projects; I want to video tape me doing these projects and then when I complete them I want to donate them to local charities. I wasn't sure whether this this would qualify for creativity or not sincec what I am doing are projects that I will then give away. Any and all replies and advice are much appreciated and welcomed, thank you.

This topic concerns the statement made by charlotteee ( http://www.ibsurvival.com/topic/5-ib-students-starter-pack-ib-faq-syllabus-links/ ) 1)First of all, are the requirements stated above still up-to-date? (or: Do they still affect me if I start the IB in September 2014/ exams: May 2016?) 2) And what exactly is meant with the " Long-Term project/activity that last for at least the duration of the two IB years"? 3) Are there any other general information about CAS in general? Thanks

Scanning through the CAS forum I've noticed there's a lot of confusion regarding what's required for CAS. Each school has its own guidelines and the IBO is unfortunately highly enigmatic, making the acquisition of any formal guidelines unnecessarily difficult. As such, let me lay down the very bare basics to CAS. At the end of the day, however, you should follow your school's guidelines. First and foremost (since this has probably generated the most discussion), the 150 hours system has been abolished. Prior to 2010 there was a requirement that students complete a minimum of 150 hours of creativity, action and service, with an approximately equal distribution of hours acr…

Hi I'm doing a volunteered activity where I go after school to a classroom and help middle school kids with their math homework. Do you think that I would be countable as creativity? (for now it's service) I'm not required to do anything this year but I know that I'll need 150 hours for the next two so just making sure.

I recently started freewriting in my spare time and have written a fair amount and find it to be quite fun and a good way to express myself. I was wondering if there would be any way for me to verify this for creativity hours. I would very much like to have a purpose for all of this writing, but am not sure how to count it for creativity.

Hey guys! I have this idea for a CAS project but I'm not sure if it's possible and also if it's even of interest for people to do? The idea was some sort of book/writting club for people in IB across the globe. It could be sharing new stories or reading world literature whereafter it could be discussed in perhaps monthly skype-meetings.. Let me know what ya' think!

I think that learning a new language counts for CAS, as long its not your IB language. I currently take Spanish B SL and I want to learn either French or Portuguese to fulfill the 'Creativity' part of my CAS hours. I will learn my language at home through Rosetta Stone. However, the only supervisor available are my parents, but my guidance counselor won't allow parents to be CAS supervisors. How is it possible to learn a language for CAS? How do you log the hours in Managebac?

Hey guys So my school is having a "CAS Day" where basically all we do is CAS activities to help us to pass CAS. My CAS coordinator has asked me if I would like to run an activity on the day as it would count for a lot more than just participating. She suggested ball sports or something along those lines. Does anyone have any ideas for a few activities I may be able to run? Thanks a lot guys, great forum, really really useful!

So...I dont know how to read music, but I do enjoy learning how to play music on the piano by memorizing what keys to press. For example, i use the program Synthesia all the time. It makes it very easy to learn to play entire songs. Is there anyway this could be counted as creative hours? If there is a chance, how would i present this to my coordinator? Who would sign for this? maybe i could show proof of my hours buy recording me actually playing songs? If this could work, this would be so magnificent! as i already do it in my free time!

I'm trying to convince one of the cas administrators to let me use yoga as my creativity conponent.. In what ways could it be used for that? Also, what is the purpose of it in the end? She asked me questions like that and I'm unsure on how to answer, I just don't have any creativity options and would really like to use it for that!!
