There is no discussion for the Math Studies papers so I thought I would make one! This is for paper 1, there is a separate discussion for paper two, so feel free to share

I have recently done a paper for a group 4 subject and apparently I have not gained any marks for "the expression of ideas" as a result of using dotpoints. Somehow my teacher argued that dot points have no structure and thus I have gained no marks. Seeing as this is the most subjective bull**** I have ever seen, I'm just wondering if such a problem would occur in the real exam. Thanks

What sections/options did you do? I did G (ecology) and H (further human physiology). I have to say, that was one of the easiest papers I've ever done. A nice surprise!

Thought as paper 3 was quite small, we could combine papers 2 and 3 discussions to save space? So, how did everyone think it went? For paper 2, I did: Dysfunctional - the aetiology and treatment question. A godsend question. Psychodynamic - the gender considerations. It was the same question (basically) as my EE, so I was a bit in love with it Paper 3, I didn't think it was especially hard, I'm just worried I haven't put enough down, especially for q1 on interviews.

What do you guys think about the French B HL exam?? I thought the texts in paper 1 were reasonably understandable especially the literary one. I usually struggle to understand them, but the ones in the exam were ok. The essay titles on Paper 2 were pretty tough in my opinion. When I opened the paper I had to giggle when I saw the chickens...400 words on chickens in a cage?? Definitely don't have enough vocab on farming When I saw Sartre's quote "L'enfer, c'est les autres" I was wondering if I m sitting an A language exam. seriously how can they expect someone to write a philosophy essay after 5 years of learning french? my vocab is far too limited for that. In the end I…

Hi guys, I'm just wondering if any other schools out there are in the same predicament that we were in. My school only taught us a very limited range of the syllabus in the topic of wars. Specifically we looked at WWI/WWII/Russo-Japanese war causes and effects NOT practices and nothing about women. So yea, none of us higher or standard could answer an entire essay with anything we studied in class. Incidentally, I wasted large amounts of time studying those few wars in depth when I could've done some chem. I ended up giving much assumptions and speculation and otherwise trying to get something together which I had no knowledge of for a whole essay. Anyone elses' schools a…

So how did you find it? On paper 1 (TZ2 I think), there were definitely some hard question, but P2 was a piece of cake! On paper one, what did you pick for the question about... Interference of waves, are P and Q at minimum or maximums? A water power plant, what is the maximum power available?

I am doing chemistry HL, I keep getting the feeling that I made some stupid mistakes in the multiple choice and also ruined parts of my section A and B. The more I think about the more I doubt myself. Is anyone else getting a similar feeling?

Well, it has been over 24 hrs since I finished the IB Music exam. So, does anyone know the songs that were on the exam, besides Dido and Aeneas, and the Kyrie from a William Byrd Mass? EDIT: And there was an indian song "Soundz from the dez" by B Buttu (?)

Ahaha, will never, ever have to write a German essay in my whole life again! (Unless I end up studying in Germany....) I'm living in Europe, (so I presume TZ 2), and am taking SL. I found the both pairs of texts given to analyze in Paper 1 just plain stupid (I ended up taking the one about inflation) and Paper 2 went fine, I think, even though I didn't like the questions that much. Still ended up taking question about how the works read in the course have ethical or educational values in them, that can be applied to daily basis. So, how did yours go? Does anybody else take German A2 in the forum except me?

I did options E (Neurobiology) and H (Further Human Physiology). I was really disappointed with the questions this year: in option E, there was nothing on the ear or neurons! in option H, there was nothing on coronary heart disease or liver disease! Don't these things usually come up year after year, in some form or another? And also that 6-marker question in option H on the Bohr shift - whaaaat? I was originally planning to burn all my Bio notes...now I'm thinking I might keep them in case I do re-takes...sigh.

Okay, so most exams are over. Yesterday, after my exam, I was talking with one of my friends and we started sort of summarising how we think this year's exams went. We both agreed that we found this year's exams, in the majority, much harder than other years. A lot of papers we came across were extremely tricky and often you had to dig the question to understand what it was requiring. These type of annoying questions have come up before, but after doing quite a few past papers, we had seen a whole bunch of much 'nicer' questions. Has anyone else thought that this year's exams were quite a bit more tricky than other years? Or is it just us two failing X(

OMG Bio! What'd you think of it? I'm TZ1. I thought Paper 1 was pretty nice! I looked at the question w/ + and - as the answers, and I was like what the heck? But I got - and - as my answer. And I spent way too long on the pedigree one. The only one that could have made sense was the X linked, recessive, right? I wanted to make sure that it was right... What you get on the backwards recombinant one? I finally put A as my answer. Can't recall exactly what it was, but I remember it took me a while to get the answer. And I hadn't studied long-day short-day enough. I read about it, but when it got to the P red and P far red, I zoned out because I didn't understand... eek.…

hey guys.. i have made the most devastating mistake ever... instantly as I saw one of the question is about "Discuss the ideology of one left-wing ruler of a single-party state"..Hitler popped up my mind naturally, i wrote 4 pages on Hitler and his ideology. After the exam, whilst i was discussing with my peers, i realized i have made the worst mistake you could possibly imagine.. anyone of you know what will happen to the paper? would i score 0? How would the examiner mark this? sigh..i am still in misery...

Hey guys! How'd history go for you? -This is only for the first two papers- I'm in TZ1, and I thought that Paper 1 was pretty nice! I didn't review Ethiopia specifically, but I went of League of Nations stuff & we'd covered Mussolini earlier in the year, so it was fine. I almost ran out of time. I wrote the last question in 15 minutes, but I'm glad I finished! Paper 2 for me was decent. What'd you guys pick? I did one on the naval warfare question. I talked about WW1 because I didn't review WW2 battles. In fact, I didn't mention any WW1 battles either, so that wasn't the best answer, but I think I had enough to say about technology and peace treaties and strategies…

Overall, easy paper it was. I did settlements and globalization. Settlements structured question was completely theoretical. The resources given was perfectly following Hoyt's Model, and it was easy to describe with diagram. for essay I wrote about 3~4 pages about how Seoul can be explained/cannot be explained with Hoyt's Model and the reason for that growth. so I think generally 3~4 deducted? Globalization, I did essay. Which was fine. It was not bad AT ALL. How TNC, trading blocs can explain things and what not... I think I did fine there. 2~3 points deducted if I am unlucky. Overall, much better than my paper 1. I think because of this paper I will get my 6. My only …

You know you've been excited for this topic. Or not. I did Astrophysics and electromagnetic waves, TZ2. Astrophysics = not too bad. Didn't get the 'show that star X is a main sequence star' but otherwise, pretty darn happy. Especially as the O-V limit, I'd just gone over that the night before. Ah black holes I think I may have used 4/3xpiexr2 instead of r3 for the first question though. Woops. (Were we meant to find the volume for the density, yeah?) Electromagnetic waves = godsend. So happy. Especially with the lasers, those were the best questions they could've asked for that. I think that this paper probably could've gone better, but definitely could've gone worse. I …

hey everyone, finally, this paper is done! how was it? i think it's fairly easy. to be honest, i expected something about the setting and themes, those general stuff for the literary questions. but all three literary questions were easy actually. i'm not sure which time zone i'm, but the questions were like this: animals and animal imagery - contrast - justice. they were a little bit focused, right? i did the 9th one, about contrast, and i used Lord of the Flies, To kill a Mockingbird, and All my sons. it was an enjoyable exam! what about you? how did you do? did you choose questions other than literary ones? how did you find them?

Discussion for the paper. Did you find it easy, hard, confusing? A lot of my friends found the last question, question 5 a killer. I don't know which timezone we have, but it was about a cylinder and having to find the x value of the surface area and then differentiating the equation you have, and then having to find the minimum value for the surface area. It was really confusing

Hey everyone, So the May 2010 exams have officially started - I did my English SL Paper 1 yesterday, anyone else do that too? What did you guys think of it? I'm not sure which timezone I'm part of (I'm in England) but I chose the prose, which was an extract from a book called "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society" by Mary Ann Shaffer. Weird title, I know. Anyone else choose the prose too?
