I'm not entirely sure about when discussion on this can start... Can it? Haha. TZ1, this was my only IB exam. How did everybody feel about this? Did anybody else find the Paper 1 a bit trickier than a lot of past papers? I think there was a real cycle of extremes; sometimes, I'd know the answer EXACTLY and I could write it down 100% sure of that as the correct response, but other times, I just went, "Quoi?" I know I got two wrong already (the C'est pas moi one - how did I put it as literary? - and the étapé one. Soupire, stupid me.), and I'm pretty sure the reponse ecrit was a total fail... Just wondering, what did everybody put for: -the "un tel défi" question - I know…

I'm from Canada...i think i'm TZ1 o.o P1: i found it somewhat difficult...worst possible scenario would be a 29/40 P2: slightly easier...i can't do electrochem though...and probably screwed up the stoich one...danggg P3: it was freaking hard...o.o, i did food and human biochem...didn't know a lot of the stuffs going on... i'm hoping for a 6...but now it looks like i'm gotta get a 5

So, I am curious to see what everyone else thought, what questions they picked, etc. I took TZ1 at HL. Paper 1: USSR Under Stalin (act surprised now Aboo...) I thought this was pretty easy and exactly what I expected. I was hoping for something geared more towards the early years of Stalin since I reviewed his rise and the beginning of his rule quite thoroughly. The Warsaw Pact wasn't too bad or obscure, and the Sources provided a lot of information which allowed me to fill in the blanks. Paper 2: Yalta/Potsdam & Use of Foreign Policy to Maintain Power in 2 Single Party States. This was a nice gift. I had studied the origins of the Cold War as I had been planning o…

I'm in Canada, no idea if there's more than one timezone or not paper 1: completely screwed it...memorised the wrong case studies...so i had to start bs-ing in the middle paper 2: slightly better...i wrote four essays on lithospheric processes, ecosystems, settlements and globalisation...my first essay was the strongest...and my last essay was the weakest...confused counter-urbanisation with exurbation =.= how'd you guys think

So how did everyone go? I'm SL and I thought I would find it terrifying...though it wasn't actually too bad. But then again, you never know with Physics. I found the paper 1 multiple choice too easy though (I think I'm TZ2) so I'm very suspicious. Anyone else find that? But whoot whoot it's over Won't be long now till it's all done.

Hey everyone I used tippex/correction fluid for a couple of my exams, until I found out IBO doesn't allow it..! I'm REALLY worried - do any of you happen to know what the consequence/penalty of this will/may be?? I've heard that it won't be a big deal, but at the same time.. it IS still a rule.. what do you think? Anyone know anything about this? Thanks so much in advance for your replies!

I'm just curious to know what everybody else thought about the French papers! I'm in TZ2 myself. I thought the first three texts of P1 were unusually difficult - or at least the questions were even more ambiguous than usual. I was also disappointed to find that the réponse écrite was an interview, but once I got going writing it, it was perfect! I really felt I did well on that part, actually. I just hope the examiners have to read the whole text; I wrote three pages, going way beyond the dotted lines, so it's way more than 100 words. I just couldn't find a way to make it more brief if all the details should be included. In Paper 2, I wrote the letter to the author. I don…

It's been a week since we wrote the paper, but what did you guys think? I was disappointed that the range of text types was so limited - I wouldn't have minded a newspaper article or an advertisement. I chose the text about trains. Unfortunately I did not start very well, but it just kept getting better, so I think I'm ok with that paper I'm pretty sure that I compensated this with my paper 2 today!

How did you guys feel about this exam? My teacher said that the difficulty level fluctuates each year between "easier" and "harder" and that this year was supposed to be the "harder" year. I went in expecting to get a 2 or 3 so my expectations were incredibly low, but I think it was much easier than I had expected. However, do you remember the section in P1 right before the writing? It was like 5 questions where you just filled in the blanks with "nunca" "eso" "lo" or whatever. I think messed that up. Was the guy saying "All projects always start with a dream...." Any input? Paper 2...... I think I royally screwed up. My teacher told us that there would always be a lette…

Well I don't know what categories people slip into, but I did the Drama questions. Although the first of the two of them (something about the minor characters in plays contributing to the whole) was decent, I figured it was one to avoid as it required a lot of knowledge of all the little characters and was therefore disregarding the larger portion of my knowledge, to say the least xP So I did the one about "Drama, even in its darkest moments, underscores the strength of the human spirit" (or however that wording goes!). Unfortunately all of my plays are either depressing or trivial with no bright shiny redeeming features, so it was more or less an argument against the sta…

I just finished my French SL Paper 2 today. I did my composition on how I feel about seeing my friend cheat At the end I concluded that I should pick the most convenient way and just cheat as well. (I gave solid reasoning) But my friends are telling me that they are going to fail me because it's not 'good' enough Am I dead?

- Paper 1: Not bad; couple of trickly questions focused on those little details; still... not bad. - Paper 2: Again, not bad. Not too sure about one of the Section B answers; Data questions = relatively straight-forward; Other questions = can't say a lot before I get to see the markscheme. - Paper 3: Option A = Gooood; Option G: Weird Data Question; Overall = Good.

How did you find the exam? I did TZ2, and in P1 I liked questions 1 and 3, the microeconomic one about costs and the international economic one about marshall-lerner condition etc. I answered chose Q1 because it was more straightforward and I thought I would've needed more time to do question 3. In Paper 2, I was probably the only one in my class not doing question 1, the one on PPCs. Instead, I did questions 2, 3, and 5, the ones on oligopoly pricing, neg. externality of production, and the current account and Terms of Trade (I think). In general, I thought paper 2 was very good and Paper 1 was average. How did you find them?

Many schools in which the May IB exams were programmed to take place (starting from the 4th of May) have been closed due to the spread of the swine influenza. I wonder if the IBO will have to shift the dates for the exams in response to this.

Paper 1 - Stalin's industrialization All of our history teachers predicted foreign policy and that's what I focused on while studying, d'oh! I also regret not READING the cuba section... I actually watched the movie and know so much about Cuba >< It was pretty decent, then again, paper 1's a piece of cake. Paper 2 - #1 and #21, Causes of WW1&2 (i think most ppl picked this one) and Origins of EW Rivalry It was hilarious... the 90 or so history students were writing in the small gym, and as soon as the reading time for paper 2 began and everyone flipped open the paper, you could hear "YESSSS!!" reverberating in the gymnasium haha. I looked around and everyone was…

SL: TZ2, did the prose. I mentioned ambiguity, as well as growing tension, the building up of the setting as well as the diction used to describe Ian being kinda angry, and the way the two characters contrasted each other. Also managed to squeeze bathos in, so happy about that! And I did manage to stick to a fixed structure. The prose was "On the other side of the bridge" by Mary Lawson

so, I believe I can now start the discussion about paper 2 (TZ2), too I found that a lot harder than paper 1. I didn't solve the last exercise (the application of differential equations) and a few others (the complex numbers and some more, I don't remember exactely...) well, I hope to get 70 % right in this paper, but dunno whether that's realistic

Hello everyone! So, for everyone that finished taking this year's HL Bio exam, what did you think? I am dying to know how people felt because our seniors no longer attend school (so I can't ask them ) and I'm a victim, excuse me candidate, for next year. Overall: How did you prepare? What did you think of the MC paper 1? How was the wording in paper 2, or what did you think of it in general? Which options did you choose for paper 3? And how do you think you did?

hey what do you think about the biology exams? I was quite disappointed. biology is one of my best subject and I was very well prepared, but these exams were just ridiculous! some questions were just too easy, and some were asked in a way you didn't really understand what they wanted, so that even though I'm pretty sure I would have had the background knowledge I don't know whether I got them right. and the data-based questions were crap, they had nothing to do with biological background! and I'd rather not say anything about the multiple choice paper I think I could have come up with more reasonable questions myself... I mean, these papers are supposed to test your know…

I failed the whole economics exam :\. This year was the pilot year at my school for econ HL..very incompetent teachers who didn't even know we had to do IAs. Our tests were all multiple choice and we were never taught how to evaluate or anything. Also I had bio on the same day as eco, and I care more about bio since I'm going into the sciences so I didn't really study for eco. That being said, I found the exam difficult..and I have no memory of what questions I did o.o. I dunno if my exam was different though, since it was HL.

Ok so we finally finished math tests. Have fun? I'd have to say it was what I expected, no less no more. But is anyone itching to know how to do certain problems? I know for a fact that most people had problems with number 2 in paper 1, the one about sin(140), etc...So here it goes: 2. Given: Sin (40) = p, Cos (70) = q (a) (i) Find Sin (140) Easy question: remember that an angle is the same as its supplement (depending on the quadrant it might change signs so watch out). So in reality, Sin (140) = - Sin (140 - 180) = - Sin (-40) = -(-p) = p (ii) Find Cos (110) same thing except the sign is different because cosine is - in the second quadrant (110 degrees is in the…

Paper 3 - #5, 7, 20 (Italian unification, German unification, causes of WWII). Our history teacher spent two class periods going through really in-depth look at Italian and German unification our last two days of classes, so I think all 61 of us were really prepared for that. And then causes of WWII? How could I resist? =D

I am not sure where this discussion topic would be as it really doesnt talk about an exam or its answers in particular. To start off, I guess this is a place where anyone who made a mindless error can come to and let it out and try to regroup. I came out of my BIO HL Paper 2 today feeling great. I sort of thought it was a bit short as well. A friend comes up to me and asks ''Which question(S) did you do for part 2?.'' I reply with ''QUESTION(S)?'' If you havent caught on yet...I have just realized that I wrote only ONE of the TWO essay questions we were suppose to do. This is the worst feeling in the world....when you know you studied hard and a little mistake costs you…

Paper 1 - Comparatively easy - the tonnes question on the first page at first threw me off, but i just pretended it was grams and went with that =D - a lot of people got caught by the "increase in volume" when there's a 30C increase in temperature or something (the answer is 1.1) Paper 2 - Stoichiometry in Section A, my % purity looked right at the end - Followed by buffer solutions I believe, my definition was iffy and i said YES for both of the questions - Followed by...??? - Section B: I picked the equilibrium one and ended up kept repeating myself. Easy selection. - Got bored at the end and drew a Brownian motion graph just for the heck of it Paper 3 - Option A: cramm…

I liked this paper, I thought it would be much harder and involve some strange questions that would take 5 minutes to decipher. Lucky me. Question 1 - I did 'the reliance and confidence in science and biology in understanding behavioural change'. I backed it up with Descartes, Darwin, Broca and Phineas Gage, concluding with the assumption of BP that the endocrine system, nervous system etc should be studied in order to explain behaviour. Question 2 - I did fallibility of memory and of course used Loftus and Palmer 1974 backed it up with Bartlett 1932 (reconstructive memory) and schemas. Question 3 - I did Little Albert (longitudinal lab experiment) Question 4 - I did g…

Our Math HL was priviledged to be without the middle four pages of the Information Booklet, until 40 minutes later when photocopies had been made... Is there anything that the IB can/will do about it? They've been told, apparently... It really screwed me over; not only was it a HUGE inconvenience, but it also made me really stressed and anxious... :-(

Dear May 2008 Candidates, Thought of making this thread.. Might seem a bit early, but it wasn't that long since we started the IB and now it's almost ending. Days pass by so quickly, and poof! you're walking through the hall door and the examination papers are being handed in. The counter above is to count down the days, help you manage your time, give you an outlook.. See it the way you see it, it's your perception in the end. Feel free to talk about anything related to this.. Good luck and hope we all succeed. Yours truly, BIO-AQUA

How did everyone find this paper? I thought it was ok, as in do-able, but it was just... different. The questions seemed slightly different to other years or something. And the second last question? With Ao? What is Ao? I took the gradient of the equation given and subbed it in for Ao and think i got it, but it was all a bit strange. Nowhere near as easy as last years November paper, and even the May ones from this year. Oh well...

Wow were both Papers ridiculously easy. Like I knew studies wouldn't be hard but some of the question seemed designed only to test your ability to input data into a GDC. The question which gave you the formulas and then asked you to identify with a graph was awesome - no skill required. Fun times.
