So, how did you guys find the Paper 2 for Maths Studies (TZ1)? I thought that the questions were generally easy, just didn't have time to fully do justice to question 5.

How was the ITGS Paper 1 everyone? In my opinion it was the easiest Paper 1 that I have come across! But I was just wondering - what is the technique used to convert the BMP to JPG? I put lossy compression because that's the only technique I can think of... And the last question regarding the keylogger and password thing. What's the process in which hackers steal your password or whatever the question was? I have no idea and just made some random stuff up.

At the time of posting there was no topic for this exam, so how did everyone find it? I personally did section B, I was actually surprisingly inspired by both texts considering that's sometimes a problem with A2 paper 1... I found it pretty normal, I expect I did fairly well although it's so hard to say with languages.

A really good PSYCHO P1 Paper... Only one question. In the question regarding factors influencing conformity I mentioned gender, culture, unanimity and group size. Should I mention only 2? Tell me how you did in this paper! Really interested!

Hello, I Just took my Romanian A1 HL Paper 1 exam today, and I chose to write my commentary on a poem. What is the maximum grade I can get if I kinda missed out on the main idea of the poem completely, but brought other valid interpretations with proof from the text? I wrote quite a lot, focused on Imagery, Diction and Structure + Lit Devices. Thanks in advance.

Ok so I took my paper 1 and I'm really disappointed. I answered everything for section A but for section B I barely knew anything! I only answered a few of the easy questions and didn't even know how to take a guess or make something up. If I did really well on section A but really badly on section B, could I still pass with like a 4? Also, how much does each exam count for in the final grade? Thank you!

I found this exam to be a bit harder than most of the past P1 exams, actually. The question that really got me was question 10, where we had to graph the cosine function! I think I got two points right and the rest were probably wrong since there were like 5 minutes left so I just drew a wave across my paper haha. The probability question was OK, just that I realized that there was one student who was taking neither art nor music! That threw off my calculations so I had to go back and fix those, which wasted a bit of time How did you guys find it?

So, what are you feelings after P2 exam? I personally consider it much easier than paper 1. The questions qere more predictable and only the time was the problem. I didn't have time to make the last question as a whole... Now your turn!

Thought it went pretty well! I did the prose and didn't have too many issues with time, though it is an exam. Missed a couple points in my plan but it was a good way to start the exam period.

I'm starting a thread again! How did everyone find the papers? I found paper 1 quite hard- the indicator question got me rather confused. Paper 2 I thought was average. I made something random up for the mass spectrometer question and the bromine water question.

Well, I'm not sure how many people on here are actually in DT anyway, but I thought I'd at least make the topic. x) How did everyone feel about it? There were a lot of things on Paper 1 which I was split on- I would eliminate two answers and decide between the last two- and talking to friends after the exam, it seems that I answered a lot of those wrong. >_< I also felt like there were a lot more materials questions than I would have expected. A friend who reviewed past papers said that there was a huge decrease in the number of materials questions after the curriculum change, but I still felt like there were too many materials questions. That may have been because …

Hi guys, what question did you answer with your paper 2 test? I'm very curious! I answered question 8, it was about how regret played a role in at least two books read. I discussed Othello, Brave New World and Frankenstein. I wrote a little more than 4 sheets, so 8 pages. xx

How did you guys find the paper? I did the prose for paper 1 because I didn't really understand the poem (It usually takes me some time before I get a poem and I didn't want to waste heaps of time on that)Because most people at school seemed to have done the poem, I don't have many people to compare my interpretations with. I think the main message of the prose is to do with passing on an experience to someone else. I think the questions in paper 2 were generally ok. I really liked the one about setting.

hey! can we start discussing this paper now? OMG! i've never seen a paper like this before! there were questions that are extremely easy, and some are really haaaard!! i enjoyed the question about the hypergeometric distribution! lovely! i also had fun solving the question about apples, pears, and peaches! by the way, this year's exam has someone named "Brian", May 2009 paper also had someone called "Brian", what's with the IB and Brians? anyways, i couldn't really figure out how to solve the negative binomial question, i tried, but stuck! also, how did you solve the chi-square question? what about question two? how did you tackle it? Question 1 was mostly GDC stuff. Di…

Not sure if people want a separate thread for Paper 2 discussion. What did everybody think of this paper? It seems to be a general consensus that in TZ2, it was fairly better, but in TZ1, it was around the same or a slightly higher level of difficulty. Incidentally, for TZ1 people: what did everybody put for the very last question on statistics and probability? I always guess when it comes to probability, so I just randomly wrote: (0.25)(0.7) ------------ (0.866) = 0.202 It was worth 4 marks... I hope there weren't any other higher thought processes involved. Also, who disliked the binomial theorem question? I ended up with a seven degree function that I plugged into po…

How did everyone find the exam? Overall, I thought that it was okay, In terms of difficulty I would say fairly similar to both of the May papers, although perhaps fractionally more difficult than TZ2 and slightly easier than TZ1. I liked that there was lots of calculus, and that, despite having a conditional probability part, the probability question was very straightforward. Also, I liked that a lot of the questions were in the 'prove that a=b' style. And the trigonometry question was super straightforward For me the worst part of the exam was question 7 and 8; natural logs and matrices are just annoying. I know that I did the method right but I am pretty sure that I end…

Might not be around tomorrow so just wanted to post my thoughts now. Psych P2=one of the best exams ever! I got EXACTLY the questions I wanted for both options! I do Dysunctional and Social psych as my options. For Dysfunctional I did 9 (discuss concepts of normality and abnormality); I had so much prepared on pretty much this exact question - I talked about 4 different ways of defining the concepts and evaluated them, showing how they were limited, then talked about cultural variations in the concepts, culture-bound syndromes and the role of diagnostic systems in shaping the concepts. For Social I did 21 (a-Distinguish Prejudice from discrimination, b-describe 2 studies …

Those lovely perspectives! How did you go/ what did you think? Part A: Biological- Sperry (1968) and his methodology (although I struggled a little- should have outlined the study a bit more I think) Cognitive- Theories leading to an explanation of dysfunctional behavior (depression) Learning- Reaction to the psychodynamic perspective to become more scientific Humanistic- Human potential for growth and Maslow's hierarchy Part B: Learning- free will vs determinism (but forgot to define the terms in the essay! whoops) Overall I thought it was a great paper, they could have made it easier (wasn't a massive fan of the bio question) but it could have been much, much more diffi…

So... which question did you choose and what was your angle of attack? I did the one that said "Science is for those who learn, Poetry is for those who know"... Upon reflection, i've realized that my essay lacked a thesis other than discussing the different ways that poets convey their knowledge. The general Literature question on irony was tempting but irony is one of those things that you can either nail, or completely miss the mark so i took the safe bet. What did you do?

Lets discuss history- the subject that worried me most in the last two weeks.=) There is a general agreement at my school that the topic in paper 1 was a little obscure than what we expected. People were expecting more 'general' topics such as Manchuria or the Versailles Treaty. I think I did alright in that paper, except for the fact that I got dates mixed up- for the life of me I couldn't remember whether the Ruhr Crisis was in 1923 or 1924. Also, I didn't know whether I discussed the events between 1920 and 1926 enough in my mini-essay. Paper two was A LOT better than what I expected. I was stressing out so much before the exams (I can't remember being that stressed o…

How did everyone find P1 and 2? I was so dumb on P1, seriously, I found it such an annoying paper, full of questions that to me were tricky Usually I have trouble with the first 5 and then the rest are okay but in this exam I was fine for the first 5 and struggled for the rest Even Q30 which is usually so easy you don't need to think required some calculations (admittedly they were easy) but still. I overanalysed things, was paranoid of things, and I know I got quite a few wrong. I'll be lucky to come away with 25 or 24. The worst question were the ones about the pH 1 and pH 2 acid. I think I put that acid A was stronger than B, and there was one where it was about isom…

It's slightly late for this thread because the exam was more than a week ago, but I just noticed there's actually no threads on the topic. So how did everyone go? I found paper 1 slightly more obscure than normal, but section B in paper 2 was really good. I didn't like the data response though. (They are always tough because you never know what they have exactly on the mark scheme)

Hey people, Didn't you think that this year's papers (specially paper 2) were somewhat too focused on data analysis? For example, paper 2 was 1/3 graphs that regarded GMFs, 1/3 some superficial stuff on cells and 1/3 the usual section B. Paper 3 (esp. options A & B) was also really focused on data analysis; the options were half data-analysis and half questions on very specific topics (eg. option B asked about appetite center, which practically never appeared; option A asked about food miles, which are also an unusual topic for this paper). Good luck y'all

It's been over 24 hours for me since the exam, so I hope it's okay to post this... What were your thoughts about the exam? I LOVED it! I did the poem (The Heaven of Animals) At first when I read the two texts, the prose seemed far more appealing than this but after reading it a few times I came to like the poem. I said that it was essentially about the cycle of life; I talked about the relationship between 'it' (the landscape) and 'they' (the animals) to show how it was about the cycle of life and death, talked about how the heaven was essentially a simplified and idealised depiction of reality and how 'they' were essentially a simplification of all animals (and related …

How did you find the Maths P2? Especially that last question on the Ferris wheel- I thought that was the trickiest question on the paper. I ended up finding that the height after 6 mins (Q) was something like 36 meters... wondering how you went about it/if you go the same thing? But I did think paper 1 was more straightforward than this paper. Thoughts?

I don't think many people will have done this exam, but I wanted to post my thoughts on it anyway Overall: I thought that it was a harder paper than the May 2010, the questions in Paper 1 were a bit harder and more ambiguous and the Paper 2 questions weren't great. Paper 1: Section A: Pretty simple, the hardest thing was probably the first sentence which completely threw me off at the start of the exam It was a bit of an obscure text and the picture of the meals looked disgusting Section B: The history of chopsticks part was great, very easy, but for me the worst part of both exams was the bit about the book on inventions. I hate those multiple choice questions where t…
