I don't know about everybody else, but did anybody find TZ1 Paper 1 unusually easy? Some of the questions looked challenging at first (i.e. finding the values for p and q of that stupid table!), but the rest of it seemed absolutely fine. Thank goodness I live in North America; the TZ2 paper sounds like a killer.

and on most practice tests we did in class, the max points was 90. and 6/90 was usually a 1.

LOL I mean grade 6 not 6 points.

ahahaha ok yea thats reassuring.

umm my teacher showed us the way they graded in 2008 and to get a 7 you needed 67-90/90 points.. randomly for paper 1 and 55-66/90 for a 6. but for paper 2 it was 74/90 for a 7. he told us it changes every year.. so we cant be sure

That's what I had at first, and got the same answer as in the question before. But then I noticed that was wrong! And fixed it. If I remember correctly, it was (-25 -12.5)...

for the matrix question? really?

oh, how did you figure that out?

Oh ok yea i had no time to check if it was right or not; oh well too bad ;)

-25 and -12.5 for a matrix question on TZ1? I'm pretty sure I got something like (0, -2, 2) or (0, 2, -2)... Are we talking about the 3 x 3 matrix question near the beginning of the paper?

You know what? My bad ;) I confused that question with a question from Paper 2. :/

oopsies.

Besides that question that was kinda tricky to me i found the exam relatively simple, except for #10 e. with the integral p to p + 3pi/2 . i had no clue how to solve it

Same. I had problems w/ the probability stuff because there wasn't any of that in HL, but the rest wasn't that bad.

I did too! About the (0, 2, -2) comment. It was

(26-26)

(12-10)

(-10+12)

I'm pretty sure.

I feel like the test itself wasn't terribly difficult overall. I didn't draw a blank on any of them except vectors... Our class just learned them the past few days before the exam, so we were all disappointed that it was an 18 mark question... but oh well. This is our school's first year.

Ah, that's too bad; the vector questions are normally pretty straightforward. The last part of the vector question confused me for a while, though. The "hence" really stumped me, and I couldn't forget out how to get vector AC without doing it the long way. I eventually realized that you could just add vectors AB and BC, so I had to cross out all my work from doing it the long way.

What did everybody get for the binomial expansion question? 25x^2?

yeah, i got 25x^2, it was 24x^2 + x^2

and i got the same answer (0, 2, -2) for the matrices question as well

what did everyone get for the volume of revolution? In the end, I got 128pi/3

all in all, a lot of the people from my year thought paper 1 was straightforward, and i'm fairly sure i got a 7 on it as well, even with a few careless mistakes

Yeah, i got something like that.

Paper 1 was pretty nice, there was like no probability on the one i took.

Yeah, I got 128pi/3. I was so paranoid about that one because I thought SOMETHING would cancel out, but I just left it in the end. My examiner's going to think I'm stupid or something; I have arithmetic working in pencil scribbled all over that page. ;) I'm guessing the mark boundaries are going to be pretty high this year.
