Hello, I was wondering how does the IB check for plagiarism in the Visual Arts course (for the visual content, like photos and images). I take Visual Arts HL Photography, and I am just worried that some of my content might show up online because I tend to publish stuff on Tumblr and such. My friends reblog my content and it's a heavy chain of reblog-repost action. Do you think I'll fail my diploma? It has been getting to me lately. If caught, they do contact you first, correct? I mean, you must be given a chance to explain yourself after all. Someone help out a sister

Hey guyss~! ^ ^ Just need some advice on my extended-essay RQ for art. So as of now, we are in the process of finalizing our research question and by next week, we are to create an outline. My research question is, "How did Edgar Wright translate the stylistic features of the graphic novel, Scott Pilgrim, into the film, Scott Pilgrim vs The World?" My EE supervisor was satisfied with the RQ. However, she advised me to narrow down the term "stytlistic features". Just having trouble here since I want to make use of art terms to further support the subject base of this EE which

Hey there, This is my first year of IBDP, and I've chosen Visual Arts at an SL level. We're already in our 3rd month of the course but our teacher is bit of a snob and frankly, I can't figure out what to do with this subject. I'm supposed to come up with a theme for all my SL artworks by monday, and based on that theme prepare a draft sketch of a installation we are supposed to make before December. I've thought about some theme ideas and this is what I could come up with: Desolation: How alienated and desolated we feel from our surroundings. Out of place: Being differe

Hi. I am just now entering my second year of IB. I am taking chemistry SL & psychology HL (online) and would like to change from both. Throughout last year I unfortunately didn’t take psychology that serious and am finding difficulty in it (my expected grade is probably going to be very low). And for chemistry, its hard and it’s going to require more effort than necessary. So I wanted to change from chemistry to arts (since my school finally has arts this year) and from psychology online to film online. Since I have a strong background in both, is it possible to do them both in the second

Hey everyone, I've noticed that there is a lack of Theater Arts students on this website and I struggle to find help and advice for my Theater class. Today I decided to put that behind me considering I have been through a lot during my theater journey and decided it would be easier for me to just create a forum for the new Theater Arts students from 2016 onward. This forum will be a discussion point for everything Theater based from the Nov 2016 session and for the years to come (unless they change the syllabus again). Please feel free to ask me any questions that might concern you

Hey! I'm thinking about my subject choices and I'm intrigued by theatre and visual arts. However, I'm scared they'll be seen as "soft subjects" in uni. Is this true? I'm thinking about either taking one of the art subjects or then global politics. Also, how would you describe the differences between visual arts and theatre? Is one harder or more time consuming than the other? Any and all experiences and tips are welcome!

So I am currently taking psychology SL. I don't like the subject, our teacher doesn't know ib psychology very well and the classes are just a mess. I also feel like I don't understand anything and everything just sucks. I was thinking of switching to visual arts instead if I'm allowed. Is that a terrible idea? Could I possibly catch up on their work? I know they haven't done a lot yet, and I'm also prepared to do a lot of work seeing as this is something I really want. Thanks in advance.

Hi, so I take Visual Arts HL (now Y13), and am preparing my artworks for exhibition 2017. Would I be in any sort of trouble if I published photographs, sketches, etc. onto the internet? For example, could Turn-it-in find it and penalise me (based on the same photographs, writing, etc.) even if the work was completely mine anyway? I understand that the IB is extremely strict when it comes to plagiarism, so I have refrained from doing so so far... but I had this idea a while ago because I think writing it out informally at first, maybe even presenting it online to an audience and getti

So hey guys, I have been struggling with my Extended Essay on Film. I have researched a lot on the director and on the movies I am going to talk about. My previous RQ was: How did the Director develop his use of filmic techniques to portray the detrimental effects of war on the individual and society as a whole within each film? The thing was I realized I had not have an exact thesis to guide my work like I was basically wandering and throwing a few cool terms to the work. Also, the war impact on people and society is kinda puny. So, as my supervisor advised me, my work, m

Hey guys, whats up? I am doing my Extended Essay on Film. I have redacted 6 pages, more less, though I kinda needed help with the visual aspects of the films, since I did not take Film as a subject. I am doing a good job I think, I grasped the "philosophy" of the guide, but tbh the help of a connoisseur of the criteria of the subject for an EE and with technical knowledge on the subject would give me confidence: even though I think I am doing well and read a lot on the theme, I have no aid at school (it doesn't have a film teacher) and the mood there is that I am suicidal by having chosen

Hey guys, since I had to upload my comparative study in a rush and I did not reference my work in the comparative study, I was wondering how much Ib penalises you for not referencing the work. I know that they are quite harsh with the extended essay, but I mean the comparative study was just introduced this year, so perhaps they are not that harsh? :/

Fellows, I am doing my Extended Essay on Film and decided to go for a comparison between Coppola's Apocalypse Now (1979) and Gardens of Stone (1987). I am really striving for the A. I just have one doubt. My RQ is still getting adjusted: how (successfully?) did the Director developed filmic techniques to portray the detrimental effects of war (on the individual and society as a whole)? By the way do you think I should just say "detrimental effects of war" or the whole individual and society as a whole thing? But thats not the point. I got in a dilemma on the "thesis" that wou

Hello there fellows, I am currently in the beginning of my 2nd year and I was planning to go study in the UK, though I am in a dilemma as to what what degree I should take. On the one hand, Law would be great, on the other hand I would also like to take something related to Literature or Arts, since I want to become a writer. However, english is not my native language, so being a writer in the UK or taking a degree in Literature would be harder for me than for other fellow british students. I have to get in touch with the universities now in September, so I am a little bit anxious wi

Hey guys, I am doing my EE for Film. I have got a topic and I am going to compare 2 movies within my topic, which is exploring the idealism search on Man and the inherent self-destructiveness. Although I have this matrix to make the comparison between two movies, I am having doubts on what movie adaptation I d choose. I am going to do Apocalypse Now (1979) vs The Lord of the Flies, and here s the prob I don't know if I should choose the first movie adaptation (1963), directed by Peter Brook, or the "recent" one (1990), produced by Harry Hook. Any help here, cinematographer fellows? W

Guys, I am currently going for my 2nd Year in the IB. Since I would like to study abroad, more specifically in the UK, August/September are the months "destined" to start thinking on college and courses. I am going to be honest: my dream was to become a writer. I have a few forgotten sketches in my room, and I guess I do have an imaginative and sensitive flair for that. I imagine myself waking up every morning with a happy smile knowing that I would spend the rest of the day with the placidity that writing gives me, I mean the fact that I am dwelling in another world, a more unpredictabl
