Manageable or not?

Hi! I'm on Pre-DP and I'm currently about to make my choices and here they are:

HL:

Mathematics (Partial self-taught)

Chemistry

Physics

SL:

Biology

Finnish

English

Businnes

I may drop business out if they accept my application for extra-ordinary diploma.

I know my HLs are gonna be tough deal, but I don't know what else really and those are most benefical for my possible careers.

I have my grades from Pre like this on scale 4-10 that Finnish schools use, to get what would be somewhat IB equielevant I've subtracted 3 (later number)

Finnish 7 / 4

English 8 / 5

Swedish 4 / 1

Biology 9 / 6

Mathematics 10 / 7

Physics 10 / 7

Chemistry 10 / 7

Psychology 7 / 4

History 6 / 2

Social studies 6 / 2

Do you think that based on my success this far I could survive The IB? :D or should I reduce the workload some way?

Well, you did well in the subjects you plan to be HL, so that's good. You do need to keep in mind that those HLs, I think HL Math in particular, is definitely going to take some time to do well in.

Are you taking 7 IB classes though? That's a lot.

In the end, it depends on you. Is it manageable? It depends on other commitments you have, natural talent, perseverance, and desire. If you have the time to devote to all of those classes, it's manageable.

I heard that HL chem and physics are killers, but if you can do it, go for it. 6 IB subjects is a lot of work already let alone 7. Know that pre-IB does not necessarily define how well you'll do in IB. Marks can drop a lot once you hit the actual DP because IB tends to expect very specific things for you to get the marks. Maybe you could drop one of your SL's if you don't want to drop your HL's at the moment?

If IBO accepst my application for extra-ordinary diploma (= 3 sciences, no individuals&societies) I will drop 7th.

I've also done self-taught mathematics courses of 2nd year finnish math A students, and scored 10 also on those. (This is because I want to prepare to math HL).

I am not sure about that but in some countries like India, they are allowed to do 3 science as it is the basic requirement for the universities in india. So I think it is not about the IBO, it is about your school....

I think that will be extremely difficult, 7 IB subjects and HL in maths Chem bio will be really difficult to manage. Don't do that to yourself if you can avoid it.

As weird it sounds I love being on the school. I've had my share of difficulties and my social life is unexistant so if I don't have homeworks to do my life is empty. I have taken hardest possible schedule I can have during Pre just to get some content to my life. So hard work kind of helps me to keep going, and even with the schedule I have now (that has similar amount of hours to lightish IB schedule) I feel like I could do a few more courses here and there. So I guess I could give a shot. I don't have to worry about sacrificing my other life for school, there is none :P

Believe it or not, it was actually also the biggest reason I chose IB. I love the workload overwhelming me and I could just simply work and focus on nothing but work. I am that kind of person that really has problems with socialising and making friends and so on.  And now, even though my subjects combination are not the hardest, it is still quite challenging and demanding. I think there is no point torturing yourself and do the hardest thing ever in order to make your life not empty , doing IB is more than enough anyway.

It is utterly up to you, I think it is really commendable that you like challenging yourself, but just really really be prepared. I thought i was prepared for the IB and then i realised it is still quite a lot to handle. So follow your heart and go for it and don't regret.  And when people say you can't do it, it just means they can't do it,  you just have to prove that you can with success. :)

I'm currently in my first year of IB and I have the same HLs you are thinking of taking. It's really not as bad as some people make it out to be. You seem to have scored well in Pre, so I'd say you can probably handle it. As for your SLs, the languages are generally pretty manageable, Biology you did well in, and business is in general a pretty easy course. In the end it really depends on you. The HL combination you have is one of the hardest, but if you have a genuine passion for those subjects, and it's essential for your career path, go for it. Good luck :)
