Is anyone here going to apply for International Diplomacy? Thats the course I want to do and I found a really great university in Switzerland called Geneva Institute of Diplomacy and International Relations and they give internships at the UN (!!) but I'd like to keep my options open and was wondering if you know any other universities that offer the course? I know University of Kent does and it even gives you a year abroad in Japan or Continental Europe

I applied to The Netherlands because apparently the economics courses there are really good. I applied to Tilburg & EUR and got offers from both. If I had to choose between the two, which one should I go for? Both seem to be equal in terms of employment prospects and rankings. However, I did read that Tilburg had a better academic reputation. Could someone confirm this? Thanks a lot.

Hi, I've got a few questions about engineering. I'm good at Math and Physics, I've wanted to study architecture for several years, but now I'm leaning towards engineering. I've read many uni's sites about it, but still I've got no specific idea of what I want to study, baecause most of the fileds of study are infamiliar to me. I don't know if I want to design engines or if I want to build robots or cars, because I haven't done any of these things in my life... And I have to decide what I want to do even not knowing what I'm choosing... My questions are very general: 1.Is there a uni which offers "just engineering" and is good? Which one? 2. What do you do after engineerin…

Hello, I am simply curious about how many universities most people apply to, as well as which ones are common ones. So I am just hoping you could put down where you have applied, where you got accepted, and where you ended up/may be going.... All universities please not just in the UK or USA. Thanks. Miccol

Hi! I am currently applying for the Diploma Program and my subjects are: English HL Bosnian HL (native language) German HL Mathematics SL Economics SL Biology SL Many of my friends that are already in the Diploma Program said that my choice is good, but I am not concerned about that. Like many, I want to study abroad as my country doesn't offer that much quality education. I am either going to study economy or medicine in a German-speaking land and I already searched on the ibo.org/recognition but the description of the qualifications is not that good. I would kindly ask you to recommend me some universities for either medicine or economy in a German-speaking land in orde…

It's been my dream to go back to Oregon, Corvallis! And now it's actually possible. My dad has just told me that he's OK with me going and living on my own in America. I'm really anxious. Anyway, almost no college offers forensics as a major😒 but then I found that my dream university (Oregon State University) lets me major in chemistry with a forensic option! So here's my question: does OSU really recognize IB and not just say they recognize it like other universities do? Also what does a forensic option mean, I have a hunch but I'm really not sure😔

Hi guys So, I just finished my IB1, and, well I have to start with the whole thing with universities. I did not get my predicted yet, but it will be in the range from 33-36 without TOK,EE,CAS. My subjects are HL: physics, bosnian, english B; SL: math, chemistry, economics. I am mainly focused on engineering, something between oil engineering or mechanical, but I am also interested in film&video production. So, to come to the question, I am interested in, how should I start the search for universities? I know for the Shelby Davis scholarships, but they mainly cover US, and I would really like to go to europe (although i am not able to pay for my uni') Is there a list…

Hey everyone, I've just begun my IBDP last month (april) from India and I wanted to know what career options I could have with my current combination: English History and Economics at Higher Level, and Math SL, French Ab Initio and ESS SL. I could work with any of my three Higher Levels at University/College level, but I would prefer History and English to Economics.

Hi there! I would like to know the applications and deadlines for univs in US, UK and Canada. I will start my IB 2 in July and I will also have to give give my SAT exams. Problem is I have heard that we have to give 3 SAT exams ( which is one main SAT test and rest 2 SAT subject test). Problem is that I am focusing on business management and I can only see Science subjects in the SAT list. I had already gave AP exams for micro and macro. I would also like to know the requirements and deadlines for univs in UK and Canada . Thank you!

I want to study medicine, and still looking for unis, it's so complicated, I'm already the last year student, is there any possibility to get to medicine in any uni in the world without any admission tests, only good grade. I would like to point out that it is not possible for me to apply UK university, because I don't belong to UE resident, and most of schools only accept 5-10 International students, moreover, most of them need UKCAT and BMAT, thirdly, for international students the annual fee is between £19,000-32,000 O_o, apparently is too much. Furthermore, I would exclude US, since I will have to take SAT. I would really appreciate any help, because I'm really in t…

I just finished my SL math paper 2 yesterday, and I have to admit, it was horrible. Everything that I didn't study showed up on that paper, and I left like 2 questions blank. But I still want to go to university, and I still want to do science. If I apply for cognitive science at U of T or some other school, would it be a good idea to apply with the intention of switching majors as soon as possible, once I finished the appropriate courses? I'm not very knowledgeable with university, so excuse me if I made a mistake in thinking. It's not that I don't like cognitive science, it's just that I like the harder sciences more than cs.

NOTE: Please ignore my last thread about drugs... Anyway, my SL math exam is tomorrow, and I am scared sh*tless about failing it. For reasons which I would rather keep to myself, I only had 2 days to study, and I think I know everything. However, I need to study probability and trig heavily. I have a 96 in the course. However, I'm worried that I might fail and get something like a 60 something. JUST FOR REASSURANCE, does anyone know anybody who had a 60-something in a high school prerequisite course, and still made it to uni? I already had a really bad mark in SL physics, so I don't want another bad mark in math either...

Do you think that one's school's name value or reputation crucially affect one's chance of going to university? I picked these : HL: English B, French B, Economics SL: Mathematics, Biology, Slovak A But I want to get rid of French, because I've been studying it only for a year and a half and found out it's not enough to handle HL. Hey guys.. I have applied to NUS but I noticed that the admission requirements for Law and Medicine are insanely high (like 42 points or something). In the course brochure the only requirement they have listed is that one should have a high grade in math and physics HL (and yes, thats how they literally wrote it). so I was just wondering if anyone knew the general range of offers they made. Also do you think that because im doing Math, Physics and chem HL it will be lower for me? I am predicted a 7 for Chem and Physics and a 6 for Math..what do you think, do I have a shot?

Hi there! I'm just wondering if any of you have heard of/know anything about the likelihood of "negotiating yourself in" to HKU if you've missed an offer by a small margin. My offer is 43 IB points. Is it likely I will be able to get in if I only have 42 points? Thanks a lot! It would be VERY appreciated if anyone could contribute and put my mind to ease! 43 is a very tough offer!

I want to study Engineering, design, or architecture at university (either in the UK or US). I am going into IB next year. 1) Do the top universities in either countries (esp Oxbridge) require work experience for the aforementioned subjects or in general? Or is it recommended? 2) What would you say are the benefits or limitations of doing work experience? 3) How do students usually end up with an internship? Family connections? Why would companies want IB students at 16 or 17? 4) What are some internship possibilities for the subjects I've listed? 5) When do students usually elect to do their work experience? Summer of IB1? 6) What have you done in your final 3 summers …

I do not know a lot about the Italian system, but I am interested in studying medicine straight out of high school. I do not speak Italian, but I know that the International Medical Schools (Milan, P...) offer their courses in English. I want the option to attend school in Italy. So this summer I start applying to college. I'm really want to go to Auburn University, Ohio State University, University of Florida, University of California at San Diego, University of Hawaii, University of Tennessee( Was looking into Vanderbilt, but my dream of going there is over) (aka anywhere but my home state of Virginia). My issue is that I got my first SAT results back and they were only a 1600... I get 1 more chance at the SAT and 2 shots at the ACT to improve my scores. I also know my GPA isn't that great from the difficulty of IB. Freshman- Sophomore year my GPA was out of 4.5 and now it's out of a 5.0 scale. My cumulative GPA is around a 3.4 which is HORRIBL…

So this is my situation. I have applied to 3 universities. One of them has given me admission and want me to reply in two weeks time. The thing is I want to wait for the other universities to give me a reply (which isn't until April) and then make my decision. If I get any of the other universities then I would prefer going there but I don't want to reject this offer since if I am rejected by the others at least I can attend this university. So what should I do?? Is it possible for me to accept the offer (for which I'll have to sign a contract) and then decline the offer if I get admitted into the other universities??

I've decided not to take my IB bio credit in university (which I could use to skip Bio 107 at the University of Alberta) because I feel that taking the class in university should be a decent GPA booster. However, I'm just wondering how much more material there is to learn besides what I've already learned in IB Biology. Looking at the Bio 107 syllabus it seems like IB has covered all the topics (ie cell structure, cell respiration, photosynthesis, cell reproduction, DNA) but is this material explored in much more detail than IB or is it mostly the same? Hello everyone, so I'm strongly considering going for my physiotherapy degree in the Netherlands at Fontys University of Applied Sciences in Eindhoven. Problem is, they are not very descriptive with the whole requirement of grades and such. I'm a full IB diploma candidate and I don't receive my actual IB scores until July 2013 (I think? correct me anyone if I'm wrong!) so I'm guessing the dutch system with grades is also like the British one where it's all then based on predicted scores right? I was thinking about my Diploma package, it just dawned on me that it lacks absolute focus. I changed it once before the holidays from HL Chem, Bio, Economics; SL English Literature, Chinese B, Maths to HL Biology, Literature, Economics; SL History, Maths, Chinese B. I did have friends who were (some still are) thinking that I was absolutely out of my mind for changing my options (back story: I've built quite the reputation for being good at the Sciences and Maths, though well. It's not always my cup of tea. And then with Economics and Literature this year, I just found that the Humanities comes much much more naturally than the Sciences do.). Anyway, I'll cut the long st…

Hi! So I really wanted to study in the Netherlands but I thought it'd be too much of a hassle to apply for the student visa, scholarships, costs ect. I know I'm going to pursue medicine (Radiology most probably) but then I thought I don't have to apply to a Dutch university, I could just apply for an exchange program after getting into a university right here in Canada, or the US. I know that Math Studies isn't good enough for some universities especially outside the U.S. How would a university that does not accept deal with students who took Math Studies applying to their school? I mean do they simply flat out reject them or is there a way to compensate by taking a summer course or so on? I stayed a week in University of Toronto and decided I might end up applying there. However I took Math Studies and feel like I shouldn't even bother trying ;/. It's not like I knew better... IB is relatively new to Jersey City and my school (the only IB school here and only on its 2nd year).
