Hello, Does anybody know any foundation courses in Europe in the fields of the art? (1 year) I am looking for a place to build up my portfolio as well as to explore different aspects. I am not able to apply to UK as I have used up my 5 UCAS choices (my plans have changed since then). I am therefore looking for a university, which does a foundation course, is english speaking and in Europe. Just to clarify: my grades are well above average, I am also doing Visual Art Higher, I still, however remain undecided on what I want to do. I am looking for a little bit of high-profile place, I believe what I have done so far would enable me to compete for places. Any help would be …

I am greatly enthralled by Trinity's history, appearance and accomplishments. I would love to get into that university. Will 36 points (out of 42) be enough?

I was thinking of applying to bursary applications for university, but I'm not sure if our family income is low enough to be considered as okay for bursary. Usually, in Canadian universities, what income is considered as one enough for bursary application? Does it differ from university to university? What about UBC and SFU? Or does it really depend on the essays that you usually submit in the application to prove to the universities how awful your financial situation is?

Hi guys, I've been having an internal debate with myself about whether I should study at a university in Canada or UK. I've received offers from my top 3 choices in UK and I haven't finished applying to all the universities in Canada yet. I'm hoping to study either management in UK or commerce in Canada. I just can't make my mind up on which country I'd like to study at! Even my friends' opinions are divided The universities in Canada I plan to apply to: - Queen's University - UWO - UBC The universities in UK I have applied to: - Warwick - Bath - Loughborough - KCL - UCL Location, school experience, campus life, the people there, future job prospects etc. are all import…

Or am I good? I'm in Year 1 right now. My predicted grades are this so far: Math HL: 5 Biology SL: 5 Geography SL: 5 French SL: 6 I want to bump myself up to a 6 in Biology and Geography at the May exams for this year (we do two of our SLs in Year 1, and the HLs and French in Year 2), and I'm working and making good progress towards that so far (I've been doing much better than last semester). I also started HL Chemistry and HL English this semester, and I want to work as hard as I can for both and score a 6 or 7 (I know it's difficult, but I'm working at it). But should I still be worrying? I'm also trying to keep my normal Grade 12 percentages as high as I can, just in…

I'm planning on doing Philosophy at Harvard or Law at Oxford. I have no idea which to pick and I'm divided between the two. My ultimate aim is to become a practising lawyer in the UK, so I thought Oxford Law ftw! but then I spoke to a lot of people in the UK legal profession, including a recruitment representative from a top top law firm, and they were all like, "It doesn't matter..." Oxford is Oxford but Harvard is also Harvard. So now I am totessssss confused. Tbh, I can see myself being super duper happy at either of them, so I thought... ...If given the choice, what would you choose? And why?

My subjects are- HL: Math, Economics, Computers, Business SL: English LL and Spanish. I want to do a B.Sc in Economics and I would like to study in the UK (possibly, LSE). But, I'm concerned about my subject choice. I take both Economics and Business and I've been told that it doesn't look too good on an applications. I'm possibly considering the US as well. I just finished my midterms and what would you guys say as far as my subjects are concerned. Should I change from business to say, history? The guys have finished three books in history and I wouldn't want my average to fall just because of that. As an alternative, I was thinking of doing a few AP courses: Macro, Micr…

Hey! I need urgent help on this topic. Currently I'm in Year 1 of a new IB school in Kolkata, India. My subject combinations are English Language and Literature SL, French ab initio, History HL, Biology HL, Maths HL, and Chemistry HL. I am capable of scoring a 7 on all my subjects apart from Maths HL (I stand on a 5 after my first semesters). I want to go for biochemistry oor microbiology later in college. My confusion is regarding the best approach, on whether I should drop to Maths SL. In general, I don't need a Maths HL for biochem in any of the colleges I'm looking at. But would a student with a 7 in HL Math have an advantage over me? Or rather is a predicted of 40…

Hi to all, I have received my IB exam results today, and even though I achieved quite surprising scores, I was let down by others. Overall I achieved 34 points: 5 in Physics HL 5 in Maths HL 5 in Economics HL 6 in Business & Management 6 in French B 6 English A +1 TOK & EE I under performed greatly in Maths and Physics. I expected to achieve 6s in both subjects and was let down when I saw 5s next to them. In addition, my Bath uni offer required a 6 in Maths HL for Civil Engineering. Thus, here I am asking for guidance on what to do next. I really want to go to Bath and I'd rather retake my exams in November and reapply than go through clearing. It would be amazin…

Hi I am about to finalise my personal statement and I have one quick question. I am applying to three Business Management courses and two Business Administration courses. If I would like to make a reference to the courses in my personal statement how should I do that? There are similarities between the two courses so on a basic level could I just say: "I'm interested in the study of business....." or is that not specific enough? Regards, Flomer

Short introduction: current 10th grader, German, living in UK Hey Guys, I just have a question about the recognition of my IB (probable) course choices in Germany. So I will take the 'German A: Language and Literature SL' course in 11th and 12th grade (as this is the only German IB class my school offers). I did some research whether or not this is acceptable as a proof for my German proficiency, but did not find anything. These days I have suddenly interested in University of Connecticut (UCON) but it turns out that school requires a lot of qualifications in academic activities, plus, social activities. MI'm kinda proud of my GPA and CAS hour (201 hours) but my SAT in reading and math in totally is 1000 (they require 1300). Should I apply for this school? I mean, not about if this is the right school for me or not, but do I have high chance of getting in UCON even though my SAT is lower than what they expected?

My school most likely won't offer HL Maths this year so I'm stuck. They've told me that they don't allow self-studying and it's really frustrating, as I might not even fit in their Language criteria. In facts, they don't offer any option to French B but German B, and I've never studied German. What they suggest is taking Polish A and English B, but that'd disadvantage me too much. I'm wondering wheter they're even allowed to forbid self-taught subjects in such cases. Do I have any chance of getting into any Computer Science faculty in the world without Maths HL? So far I've only found unis that consider it essential.

Hi, I was just wondering if it is necessarily important to send in a recommendation letter from my respective teachers when applying to universities located primarly in the US or UK area. This is due to the fact the significant part of my teachers hate me for personal or occasional reasons and would most likely write a negative letter if they would consider writing one at all. However, I consider myself as an overall manageable student; since I don't struggle with the workload and recieve remarkable grades on the small tests my teachers decide to have occasionally (besides chemistry, which takes up 90% of my study time and still provides me poor results ). So this bring …

First of all, I'd like to start off by saying I still have two years ahead before I can really be worried about my uni career. I haven't started the IB yet. As you can see, I'm a worrying kind of person. Or anxious, whatever you want to call it. Therefore, I'm already on the prowl for my perfect university. I know things don't always go as predicted, but if I work my butt off, perhaps, I'll have a minimum percentage of probability my plans will actually go as they were supposed to.
