Hello, I would like to do the IB the next year but my parents don't want to let me it. Why? As they say that the IB isn't important, the French Baccalaureate is enough and widely recognized around the World. Which is not utterly true. The nearest IB World School is up to 150km from my home, so I'm forced to go to an outstanding IB boarding school in United Kingdom. I am fully motivated for this kind of experience except my parents (my father understands me a bit but my mother does not) are against this idea of wasting 2 years of doing a "useless" programme. It triggers me everyday, the de

I need your advice on this one guys, here's the somewhat summarized story: So I went to this IB school abroad for a year and came back home for the summer, turns out my parents ran out of money and now I've been out of school for 3 months and I'm still back home. IA's started about a month and a half ago and I was working on my history IA from home, Biology IA started and after talking to the teacher he told me the coordinator told him that I'm not allowed to work on them from home because of the "academic honesty" policy, they then asked my parents to give them another date; t

Hello all, Long story short I dropped the full IB diploma a few days ago and I am now currently doing the IB certificate. I am doing 6 subjects, 4 SL's and 2 Hl's. I dropped Biology HL to SL, it was just too much content for me to handle. Anyways, my question is will I be able to get admitted into a good school? I'm focusing more on Canada than America in terms of schools. I am in my second year of IB and my current score is 26 but I'm trying to push it up. My counselor and I emailed most of my American schools and they mostly said they don't care about whether it's the full diploma or ce

Hey, in case you haven't heard Texas got hit hard with Huricane Harvey. If you live in Texas and your school is cancelled, I heard you might not be back for up to 4 months and maybe more depending on the damages. There are IB schools all over in other states and I attend one of the top IB schools in Georgia. It's called Douglas County High School (Douglasville, Ga) and if you want to continue your studies so you don't get behind please come out. Our teachers are encouraging us to get you guys to come so you can finish out IB, especially if you're a senior. I wish you all the best of luck and I

Okay so a year ago a joined this school which had just started IBDP. I thought because it's new it will be better and they will pay more attention to us. We are only five kids. Four of us are not from India, (this is a school in India). Three of us are from Thailand and one is from Canada. So it's been a whole year and so far there are only some subjects we have done IB related. the rest the teachers are trying to make it as bookish as possible, because (a) The teachers have not trained according to the IBDP curriculum, (b) they are teachers of the CBSE board and they don't like the IB way of

Hey guys, this is my first time using IB Survival and I found out that it is really beneficial for the IB student. My Physics EE revolves around the effect wheels have on the recoil momentum of a potato cannon. RQ: To what extent does the rolling friction of wheels affect the recoil momentum of a potato cannon after launch? I just want your opinion on my research question and my topic, and if you believe it can be improved please let me know. As for the experiment itself, I am planning on building a potato cannon (with and without wheels) and comparing these three things after th

Hey! I'm going to be starting the Pre-I.B French Immersion (grade 9) program this upcoming September, and I been trying to get a head start. I'm going to be doing a lot of reviewing and studying to help me prepare for pre-I.B! I was wondering if any of you can recall what you all learnt in grade 9 pre-I.B (english, science, french, math, etc...). I've tried researching the curriculum online, but I never get great results! Thank you so much! I really appreciate all your responses! - Girl Online

Hi everyone! I have seen a post similar to the one I'm just about to make, but I thought this might be lots of fun. So during your school life I'm sure you did/said funny things which make you chuckle and/or cringe every time you take a walk down the memory lane. Since there are many things that happened to me, I thought it would be cool if we shared our stories and laughed together. I'll start In grade 8 I was talking to my friend how clumsy he was because he tripped over his bag pack. As soon as I finished the sentence I tripped over MY OWN FEET and fell face-first onto the floor. I hav

Hi guys, I'm in Grade 10. Although it's the end of the year, how should I spend my summer before the IB starts? List of what I'm planning to do: Practice for SATs Read books for English HL Literature Revise notes/ textbooks for HL history, SL math and SL Spanish B Do CAS hours ( prepare for MUN, go to guitar lessons, kickboxing, planning schedule for community service club) Thanks for any advice!

Hey all, So my parents are thinking of moving me to another school for my IBDP, but I like my current school. I'd love some of your thoughts on which school is "better". Current School: -IB Average of 30, though this year it's a predicted 35 (predicted). -Alumni have attended NYU, Berkeley, UCLA, Several Russell Group Unis, Parsons, but not Ivies/Oxbridge. -Does not offer English Lit. -Lots of friends, therefore more CV/CAS opportunities. -The CAS teacher wants me to lead a community service event next year, I'll create a program for our students and we'll travel to an island and do so

Hey everyone. So I'm starting IBDP next term. I'm very conflicted about where to study. In my city the prestigious IB schools are crazy expensive. They can cost about $20000-$35000 a year. There's this new school that's just starting IB next term. If I go there, I'll be in their very first batch. They're really really new (I think they've only been around for 4-5 years) and right now their eldest class is grade 9. They don't have gr 10. They're also pricey; about $13000 a year. Their compound is 2 hectares and the teachers, I've heard, are very qualified (mostly Aussies and Americans). I have

Hello everyone! So, for some of us, the Easter Break has just begun and we have two weeks of freedom. Now, I know that we should take that time and rest as our brains need to relax, but I can't imagine spending the next two weeks watching only Breaking Bad and some cat videos on YouTube. I want to change something about it, have something to talk about when we come back to school. I also think that this time would be great time for some revisionas the exams are coming up. I'm also the type of person that likes to explore new things and ideas, as well as learn new things. I think that knowl

I have a question that you guys might be able to help me with. I know that I want to go to school and be a teacher but I can't figure out if I want to be a High school or Elementry school teacher. I have pros and cons for each but nobody in my family wants me to be a teacher because they think it's stupid. I'm just looking for other people's opinions on the matter, and what you might do. Thank you for taking the time to read my post. :3

Hello everyone. Today's situation inspired me to create this topic and indirectly to comfort myself by realising I'm (hopefully) not alone. This topic relates a bit to the one about personality types, but lets begin. Today during my lunch break I decided to stay inside as I didn't really feel like running in the heat with my classmates, but the teachers wanted me to go outside (we have to, I don't know why). I have anxiety and they know about that, but my English teacher doesn't believe me and asked me (sarcastically) "Oh, do you have another one of your anxiety things?". I wanted to lie, beca

So a lot of people at my school have been talking about how if someone doesn't work hard, but still gets an A in a class (without cheating), they don't deserve the grade as much as someone who has to study a lot to get the same grade. I know how it feels to be on both sides, as certain subjects are challenging for me while others are more intuitive, and I found this almost offensive. Curious to hear other people's thoughts on this.

Today, my IB coordinator came and told us that from this generation, class of 2016, we must defend our EE ORALLY, and it will be recorded by camera?! Has anyone of you heard anything about this? It was a shock for all of us at my school... I don't know what to say. I hope it's not true...

What do you think? What is the easiest combination in terms of both workload and content that you can come up with? Help a lazy IB student over here!
