  1. My old school was similar to yours. Some IB students (esp. certificates) hung out with regular students, but most IB kids hung out by themselves. What was bad was that some them were really arrogant. Many thought that they are superior to the regular students, while that might not be necessarily true.
  2. [Hi, I’m reposting this because I edited the survey a little bit- so it’s a new link! For anyone who hasn’t filled this survey, please feel free to fill it out! If you have filled out the previous version, you don’t necessarily have to fill this one out] Hi everyone! So for one of my university projects, I’m investigating the effectiveness of IB program according to the themes that were studied in one of the education courses I’m taking. As all of you are in IB program, I thought that it would be great if I ask you to fill this out! I would appreciate it so much if you guys fe
  3. Contact your IB coordinator and notify him/her of the problem right away, as soon as possible. In my school, they said that they would go over our exam papers to make sure we did not do any number mistake, but you never know for sure. If you just finished it, the paper would not have been sent to IB by now.
  4. No, it doesn't mean not getting it done in time. It means putting things off until later, perhaps until the last minute. I've never heard anyone who completely failed to do something be described as a procrastinator, just someone who chose to do as many other things first. I actually made a song about Procrastination. I don't know if you will understand it all, AlmostisNeverEnough, but it gives lots of (increasingly severe) examples. My Language B class is Spanish, and according to my dictionary, 'procrastination' is dilación en español. If I do not start, "do" my homework on right

  6. Means you do not do your homeworks/works on time. A.k.a. it's a struggle that every person living on Earth go through..
  7. History is not about memorizing specific details, it's more about analyzing and explaining the connections between events in a historical period to support your position. This is what you have to do in your essay. Seeing the connections and cause-effect is very crucial to a great history essay. The essay gets enhanced if you offer counterclaims and then use them to support your claim. In my class, we didn't have a lot of debates. We did have some essays and presentations though, but presentations were for completion marks, and the sole purpose of the presentations were for the best of our es
  8. Well, first of all, I think the only way you can do well with your current RQ is if you define clearly and specifically what you mean by "authenticity." I think c) is a best RQ out of all you have proposed. IA is very short, it's better for you to deal with a specific event, army division during Nanzing Massacre rather than Nanzing Massacre as a whole. Personally, the RQs you have made sound like the ones fitting for a History EE. I do not know a lot about the massacre, so I cannot suggest better ones. Sorry I can't be much help Contact your teacher for help on your RQ.
  9. Okay, thank Okay, thanks, Emmi! Is it okay if I ask you which university you enrolled?
  10. This question most applies to schools in Canada, especially ones like SFU or UBC. Is it a bad idea to take 2nd year English course in your first term of your first university year after taking IB Eng HL? Is IB Eng HL an enough preparation for it? I have already enrolled in for this 19th century lit course(and the deadline to drop the course is Aug 01, or else I have to pay the penalty), but I'm wondering if this is a bad idea because this guy in Sciences in SFU has told me that many people recommend to NOT take the second year courses even though you have taken IB. But since the guy is from
  11. My best quality to be a student is my determination to do my best in an academic task that is given to me. What is your strategy to not procrastinate?
  12. I used to have a speaking problem. I stammered and my voice was really soft. My pronunciation still has that annoying Korean accent. But what was different is that I learned how to do presentations with confidence and express the information clearly. I literally yelled to make my voice louder. If your stammering prevents the audience from getting the information that you wish to express, then it can become really problematic. BUT you won't fail English. IOP and IOC is only a portion of your mark. If you do excellent in other assessments, you will be fine. But practice your speaking. Doi
  13. All that suffering in my secondary school would have allowed me to write more than that, but I restrained myself. Anyway, thanks for reading it although it's so long(if you read it lol) quote name="Yuki Kuran" post="218423" timestamp="1402236954"]Whew, 2998 words
  14. Hi, First of all, congrats on your results! To speak about the universities, they do not take IB results as foremost criteria to accept the candidate. I know a girl who got lower than 40 in her predicted grade, but had a great extracirruculars and great SAT score. She got into Ivy league schools. So make sure you build up your extracirruculars and SAT before you apply! You would not get into Fall term, because as of right now it would be too late to prepare for these. I think you have to apply on upcoming Spring or maybe a few years later because as far as I know, people spend more than a
