Hi, I am in despirate need of help. My maths teacher has said that she set the maths IA draft deadline for the end of the school term nd has said that of we do not meet this deadline anything we hand in later is considered a final draft and she will give no feedback on what we submit. Is this allowed? I wasn't aware of the deadline and have also had Philospohy, Biology and ESS IA's at the same time as well as the EE draft to be handed in and the TOK exhibition AND mocks the second week back of september. Any feedback would mean the world to me!!!!!

I've done research on some universities in the UK to study Veterinary Medicine but none of the ones that I've come across specify if I should take AI or AA, the only requirment being Maths SL and/or the grade (e.g 5 out of 7). Some don't focus on the overal points out of 45 but more on the individual grades of subjects. I've spoken to a few teachers, they said AA would be a better option as it'll give me more opportunities for universities but after receiving my prior knowledge test we did during induction for DP, I did not get a high enough mark and so my maths teacher doesnt recommend A

i’m starting my maths IA and my proposal is due tmr, im in AI SL and so far i’ve thought about doing somthing gymnastics related, analysing the data and maybe finding a trend between height and how good u score… somthing like that maybe?? i don’t know tho, i asked my teacher and she said that is very simple (it is i know) and that i would need to go deeper or develop my idea better in order to score well. i’m also not sure what area to do it, probability idk etc. also i kinda want to change my IA to somthing anime related ?? any ideas ? helpppop

Hii My IA idea submission is due tomorrow and I have no idea what I really want to do, but came up with the idea of optimization using differential equations. I thought of reducing the surface area of packaging in different shapes like sphere and prisms, and calculate the minimum point (minima) through second order differentiation equation. I am also planning to then apply this to different real life examples like Toblerone triangle prism or something like that. Do you think this is too simple at the level of maths HL because it is just at the level of maths HL in the syllabus? I am

Hi, I'm doing an IA on the volume and surface area of a torus, and I've already derived the equations needed. However, these equations and their derivations are widely found across the internet, so do you think it would turn up as plagiarisation? :0 Also, I'm thinking on optimising surface area with a fixed volume, meaning having the largest surface area with the smallest volume. How do you think I can do this, and whether the equations that I have just derived can play a part in this? Thanks a ton

Hello I take maths SL and my homework for the winter break was to come up with a topic for the IA. I'm considering f/stops in photography which has something to do with geometric sequences and some mathematical explanation why these stop numbers make sense. It seems good enough, I guess, but my concern is that it's not very authentic. May I have your opinions, please? Hadassah

Hello. I was wondering wether I should take AI SL or AA SL. I enjoy calculus and algebra more than statistics but I am not that comfortable with non calc. However I am worried that medical unis might not prefer AI SL? Would it be better to take AI SL and get a 7 or AA sl and get a 5/6? Thanks in advance

I have currently chosen to investigate tidal waves for my maths IA. However, I am unsure as to what other explorations I can do under this. (And whether or not this is too simple...) Is modelling and predicting future tidal waves appropriate? I have secondary sources that'll give me data of tides at different points in times at a beach, so I will be able to graph them. I will also use trig and algebra to find the ideal time to visit the beach with my "ideal" tidal height of 1.5 metres I am uncertain as to what other maths/exploration I can apply to this Any suggestion

URGENT HELP REQUIRED PLEASE I want to do a world studies essay with Computer Science (which I don't study, but will at uni), but I'm stuck. I had planned on crossing it over with economics (one of my standard level subjects) and doing it on the Cambridge Analytica scandal, but my idea doesn't have enough econ in it. I would love it if there are any ideas crossing it over with any of my subjects: Maths HL, Physics HL, Spanish HL, English SL, French SL, Econ SL. Hey! I was wondering if anyone has done a Maths IA (exploration) connected with sport and calculations around it, can be both HL or SL. I have to write an essay in Maths (for a competition) which is somehow similar to IA (but it's not really about IA), so that's why it doesn't have any specified level of Maths required. I was thinking of calculating something with skiing (or figure skating) cause I'm interested in that and I think I could find some Maths in it. Hi, My maths IA plan is due in a week and I am having trouble figuring out how I could further my investigation. My idea is to apply calculus and the principle of Optimization to minimize surface area to volume ration of a house. Does any one have any good ideia to how I could go beyond finding the optimum surface area to volume? Maybe an additional area of mathematics would be good. I'm now experiencing some difficulties (as majority of my classmates) because we had a very bad Maths teacher last year. I was always quite good at Maths and that's why I decided to choose AA. Hey guys! I just started IB1 and i’m having my mock exams soon. I’m finding IB hard (Because im not naturally intelligent) and I keep doubting myself. So many people in my school are redoing IB1 and I’m scared to see myself in that situation. The subjects i’m taking are quite difficult. HL Chem & SL maths AA especially my question is, suppose I dont get the requirements needed to be promoted to IB2, Will I be forced to redo IB1 or will i have the opportunity to resit some exams and do extra work during the summer?

Hi, I need an urgent help for my math IA. I have the attached graph, for my set of data. I need to find a suitable function for it and I really cannot find correct one. Hi guys, I’m currently working on my Math SL IA and I need help on what maths to use. I am investigating the variables affecting reaction time, such as sleep, gender and involvement in sports. My teacher approved my topic, yet he said simple statistics would not be enough for an SL IA. He said I could calculate probabilities from the distribution graphs, but I’m not sure what he meant. If anyone could explain how I could use probabilities and give me more ideas on what maths I could apply in my investigation, I would really appreciate it.

Hello, thanks in advance for your answer. My friend has a very high probability of repeating one year. Under what conditions does a person stay in the second year in ib (11 grade) ? If in the first term (grade 11) the student receives 1,2,2,7,5,6. And in the third term (grade 11 ) he has 7,6,7,3,2,4 + A (TOK) will my friend have repeat a grade ? (Retention one year ) (CAS has done ) My friend is very nervous about this, but I don't know anything about falling conditions in ib. Thank you 😊

Hi! So, I have been thinking of possible Maths IA topics for quite a while and have just decided to do it on Vectors (because I'm relatively better at it?). I have heard that quite a few game developers utilise vectors during the game development process, and so it would be in my greatest interest to base my IA on vectors in video games. However, I'm not quite sure on how to go about writing this.
