  1. Hey.. You can apply elsewhere I am sure. But the deposit is non-refundable! good luck
  2. Hmm thanks! Do you have any idea about US? I know UCLA is good but any other names?
  3. There is a science club in our school which I have recently joined! During the first term, all their meeting coincided with my meetings for the annual school fair hence I din't get a chance to be in it. All in all, I have spoken to my CAS supervisors and its quite hard to do something within the boundaries of school to have lots of science related activities, however I think with my summer courses and workshops as well as my EE which I basing on drugs and medicine (as close to bio I can get with it) and like you said college essays I should be fine. I intend to apply to UCLA, Imperial, UCL
  4. Hi Everyone, I am currently in IB year 1 and in about 2 months I will be having interviews with my careers counsellors about my university choices. I have decided on pursuing an BSc in Biochemistry however I am a bit confused when I am doing my research. The top universities which I am inclined towards are Imperial College of London, UCLA, United College of London. However, I had heard some people in my school talk highly about the biochemistry course at MIT. Do any of you know a bit more about it since I can't exactly find a lot of information on their website. They have an undergrad co
  5. Hey! Even my teacher does a terrible job at explaining because literally everyone at the end of the class questions if anyone understood anything or not. As the 2nd reply says, use that youtube channel. 2 of my friends take SL chem and they have a very bad teacher as well. Use a course companion and make notes. Trust me more often than not, the book contains a lot of things which is just stories and not concept. In our school we use the oxford chemistry companion. And what I do is I use various books a compile a set of notes for each chapter as we go and make it coherent enough to only refer t
  6. Honestly I take Chem at HL and Bio at SL and from what my teacher says every lesson Bio SL is easier than Bio HL especially since we are the first year with the new syllabus. Chem HL is literally like my GCSE teacher said a new solar system because it defies almost everything you learnt in GCSE (okay a bit exaggeration but it does!). Just like the other people said above, it's very subjective. One of my friends have taken both at HL and she is often like what did i just learn in class!? Anyways not to scare but it really narrows down to what kind of a learner you are at this point. I had an am
  7. I thought you said you were struggling with a 2 or 3 in math hl, unless you moved to math SL or it was a complete lie? Hi Thanks for your concern! I had lots of good suggestions from people which I acted upon. I have been using a wide range of resources and with my teachers help I scored just a 6 in my calculus test last week
  8. Honestly I don't! Like I mean I have just this weird notion that I want to be remember for a long time in my school and leave a mark. And also I am one of those perfection craving human. Literally I wonder how people deal with me, because I think I have almost in all occasions reiterated that nothing is good for me. But thanks a lot everyone! It makes me feel really good especially since I spend a better part of the day considering why some people who are right now "assumed" to be the next head prefects more in the talks than I am haha
  9. What would you recommend I do to add an action event into my portfolio considering that I am not particularly skilled in that field?
  10. Thanks guys! HAHA sports and me don't fit in the same box. I am seriously pathetic in those so I am trying to really get my action hours through PE modules like zumba, aerial arts. I have 16 hours in total now. And I dance which counts as action HHAHA. For IB, I am getting 7/6 for all my subjects and I am prepping for SAT's now. I am doing the test in May.
  11. Hey Everyone! Firstly, thanks for taking your time out and offering help. I am one of those people who are never good enough. Its like YAY I got 90% thats a 7, while everyone congratulates me I just fight with myself in the head saying that I could have very easily gotten 100%. So good is never good for me. Just recently I got accepted in to the Senior Prefect Team for my school but now I am just worrying and striving for the head team. I am planning on majoring in biological sciences or biochemistry. I am checking out some universities here over the next week to finalise on one. Like everyo

  13. First thank you so much for your advice! Currently our school uses the Oxford mathematics books and we are currently on Unit 6 (Stats and Probability) and we, collectively as a class have labelled the book as the worst IB Companion ever - the questions are nowhere close to even the Level 3 questions in the IB paper. Its surprising that our school has provided us with that honestly. I have 2 other books on my mac. I am putting the details here. Have you heard of them before? 1. International Baccalaureate Higher Level Mathematics (Core) by Nigel Buckel and Iain Dunbar 2. Mathematics Higher
  14. Hi, I am currently in term 2 of IB year 1. I am doing pretty well in all my subjects scoring 6's and 7's. However there is HL Maths which I am struggling in A LOT. My school had early entry GCSE's offers, so I had finished my maths GCSE's last year in January - 6 months earlier than the usual lot. I scored a 95% and got an A*. Before finalising my IB choices, I went on a college major hunt and juggled between 1. Computer Science and 2.Biochemistry. I am interested in going into medical field but with a technological approach. Hence I am still not sure which would be the ideal major espec
