So at my school, we finish French B SL, our only Group 2 option, in May 2009, which is in about... 3 months. We've spent the better part of the last 2 months doing tons of orals and the occasional essay. Thus, we've began writing mock exams. We had a mock Paper 2 yesterday that we finished today, and immediately after, we received a Paper 1... ...and I literally died. We had barely done any Paper 1 work since around October, and here it is, strung out to us so randomly and with barely and prepration. I had glanced at some sample Paper 1s from 2005 and on, and they didn't look trop facile. This exam was from MAY 1999 and was utterfly confusing. The questions were ex…

Hey guys, Does anyone have a link to English A2 past papers of May 2011. I've got math HL may 2011 papers last summer already with the single help of their code from some member here. Therefore I am pretty sure they're out in internet somewhere. I can indeed provide with math hl papers whoever needs them. love and love

Is it true that if you write your EE in another language, it only has to be 1,000 words? I read the guide lines for group 2 for the EE, but it said nothing about it being only 1,000 words, but everyone at my school in ib is saying it.

what are the differences in HL and SL spanish B? sorry if this has been asked before. i'm in spanish B SL1 and i have an A... so i was thinking i should do HL next year. i am not a native speaker. also, did they change the individual oral for B languages? i thought you picked a topic and presented it and then your teacher asked you questions about it, but my teacher said that they give you a picture and you have to describe it and then your teacher asks you about it... which is it? sorry if i seem kinda stupid in IB stuff haha... i start the whole program next year but they let you take your foreign language early if you have all the prerequisites at my school.

Ok so for language B papers, I always had a preference for the HL papers compared to the SL papers..probably because in SL if you lost 1 point you would lose an entire percent, whereas with HL if you lost 1 point in paper 1 it would be < 1% because the paper is out of 60! And also you would have much more choice in paper 2 and I just found the topics a lot more stimulating like to do with social issues and stuff much more than in SL exams!! For my mocks we were given a HL paper I scored a solid 7 (93%), for my finals I got a 6 in SL! And the HL results were generally better (2 7's and 2 6's)! Whereas with SL it was 1 6 (me) and then 5 5's. Is it just me or does anyone …

Hello, I'm having a Chinese oral this Wednesday and I am very worried about my tone in Chinese. I started learning Chinese in 9th grade which is considerably late compared to my classmates who had been studying Chinese for at least more than 5 years. Some even learned chinese for 10 years! I am probably at disadvanatage, but I took it because I felt like it was better to be good at one language than to be so-so at many different languages. Okay, I'm rambling too much. Haha. So, my main concern is the tone in Chinese. I am horrible with tones. How do we get better at speaking Chinese? Listen to the Chinese book CD's? I know confidence helps, but I can't help but feel smal…

I am currently in yr 12, doing both chinese and eng A language n literature my chinese is not very good compared to the others in my language a class Most people in my school do one language A and one B, so I am worried that choosing 2 language A s will give me a lower IB score, n the work load might be too high. so i am now considering if i should change to chinese b SL. (i cant do chinese B HL, as I 've already got 3 HL subjects, which i do not want to change i am still considering as I am worried that chinese B sl might be too easy for me, as i dont want to change to a class where I cant learn any thing new

Hello everyone. My question is: approximately what are the equivalencies between DELF/DALF levels and IB French levels? I would suspect that French A1 HL would be equivalent to DALF C2 of course, but what about the other French IB levels (i.e. French AB Initio SL, B SL, B HL, A2 SL, A2 HL, A1 SL, A1 HL)? What DELF/DALF levels would these correspond to (i.e. A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2)? Thanks for taking the time out to read my query (and hopefully answer it).

I have my IOP for Spanish B HL the week after my holidays, so I need to start preparing. My teacher told us that we need to talk/present for 10 minutes and after this we'll have a class discussion about the topic. However, I just checked my OSC guide and there it says 10 - 12 minutes for the entire presentation including the discussion. I also read something similar in this forum, where the presentation is broken up into 3 chunks of 3 - 4 minutes. Is my teacher wrong about the presentation being 10 minutes followed by a discussion? So what do I do? Do I prepare a 10 minute presentation on the topic (without discussion) or a 3 - 4 minute presentation? I can e-mail my tea…

Hi, so I'm the only student doing Latin this year and I'm pretty sure I'm the first ever student to do Latin at IB level at my school, so my IB Coordinator and I are pretty lost. I have private Latin lessons from a teacher who works at a public school, so she knows nothing about the IB at all. So, I have a couple of questions about the dossier. Please correct me if I'm wrong. It has to be about an Ancient Roman topic, right? Can it be a comparison of some aspect of society (e.g. women's rights) in Ancient Rome AND Ancient Greece or must it be solely about Rome? Also, it has to be in the language of examination (English for me), not in Latin, right? At SL maximum word cou…

You don't even have to upload it you can just tell me which one it is, like from 2009 or whatever? PLEASE. THANK YOU:D

Hey everyone! My current program is: HL - Modern Greek, History, German B SL - Math, Economics and Biology I'm thinking of changing Economics to English B, standard level. I can speak pretty well English, my best friend is American, so we speak in English with each other, I don't think I will have a problem. The level is anyways pretty low in B languages. My only concern is that I lost three months of the course (IB1 student) but I've read the book they studied (Lord of the Flies). Please tell me what you think! By the way, I want to study Politics in the US

Personally, I'm a very outgoing person and I love to perform. I'm in forensic speech, choir, and orchestra, so I'm very used to and love to be in front of people. However, when it comes to Spanish, I find that I'm suddenly taken with a sort of stage fright and can hardly get out a sentence. It's my favorite subject and I'm quite proficient in the language though, which makes my nervousness even stranger. Any ideas how I can help this?

Hey guys, i'm in one of those unfortunate situations; i first started this course with the idea that it would be very easy and I wouldn't have to spend much time on it, because to me it wasn't that important. I thought that I could instead spend my time putting more effort in to other parts of my timetable. To my surprise i got put in a ab initio class that does more work than the highers (I think the teacher has problems - i'll leave it there). Long story short, I'm putting a lot of effort in to this class and my grades aren't improving. One of the reasons why this class makes my skin chill is because the way we are graded in class is so random. Sometimes we are told we…

Hi guys, as I understand most of the students write an extra chapter/scene/pastiche or a diary entry as their poetic communication written task, however I saw a poem which was based on gatsby and got a 7, soi looked it up and 'discovered' that there are acutally many different kinds of texts one can write. Has anyone done a cartoon, parody or song lyric(not srue what that means actually) on a book? or travel writing? I wrote my first written task on death of a salesman, did a poem but my teacher wasn't sure if it was a good idea.. but at the same time we're the first ones to do IB so she has no experience.. hm so any ideas?

I'm taking Spanish ab next year, which is in 3 months and I was just wondering if learning the language a bit beforehand would help. At first I thought learning extra would be nice but then I reconsidered that once the lesson reached where u dropped from ur self-studying, you'll be the same as everyone else, so it would be time-wasting anyways So should I take informal classes/ self teach Spanish ab before starting IB course?

Hi guyss, My german exam is this friday >< I know that it is a little late to be asking questions but for paper 1 "Teil B" [part B] what do they mean by "without undue copying". How much copying can we do?? :/ I like to copy out large chunks because I find it hard to rephrase. A second thought, I am soooo doomed for german. Es ist zu schwer. Ich sollte eine andere Sprache gelernt.. [if that sentence is even correct :/]

Hey guys, so I have my IB french oral coming up with my teacher and I'm doing it on the painting "La Trahison des Images" by Rene Magritte and the painting's theme is basically that a word and an object have no necessary connection other than that we collectively assigned that word and that object to go together. I was wondering if anyone, whether you speak french or not, could just come up with questions that you would ask me about the panting (which is the the second part of the oral). I want to be as prepared as possible and I am not entireley sure what type of questions to expect. So if any of you have any experience with doing orals on paintings, or if you just hav…
