I'm hoping to apply to US colleges this year and so I need to sit my SATs pretty soon but I don't know how things are gonna work out for me!! So I sat the SAT subject tests couple of months ago and I didn't get the scores I wanted T.T I need to sit those again but I haven't sat the SAT reasoning test yet! I want to go for early decision for harvard but I dont know how this is all gonna work out before the deadline I can sit the October (deadline is tomorrow for registeration) and the November ones for ED but I'm not sure if it's realistic to sit the SAT reasoning test for the first time and get a good score ( can only sit either the reasoning test or the subject tests a…

Hi(: Yeah as title suggests, since I am doing the Nov 2011 exams, most American university applications actually close before the release of the official IB results. Please correct me if I got this wrong. Otherwise, would my IB mock exam grades be the most important indicator for academics as my high school results apart from SAT? Any ideas and helps are appreciated, thank you!

Hello everyone , I've been researching about some Canadian universities in which I'm interested (Alberta, Toronto, BC, McGill) and I have certain doubts on the costs of living, tuition, etc. Although I've found some information on this, I would like to get a more straigthforward response from this community. If any of you can tell me anything regarding the financial aspect of being an internat. student (including scholarships or loans) in a Candian uni, I would very much appreciate it .

I want to get a good score at SAT I, as I'm planning to apply at U.S top universities. I have a problem at the critical reading section. I tried some practice tests, and I always get 30-40 %. Is there any books that can help me in the critical reading section? I need to improve my vocabulary. I need some good advice. Please reply soon and thanks for your help.

Hey , my goal is to be able to enter one of the ivy leagues in US , mainly because of the 100% scholarship aid they can offer to those who need it . Anyway , besides having an amazing strive and passion and being unique over other , I want to know what else do I need ? I'm currently doing IB and taking my SAT in June so I just want to know what kind of IB scores and SAT scores would it require to enter Harvard , MIT , Princeton , Brown , Cornell , Yale . I know I seem like i'm dreaming huge , but I know anything is possible if one puts enough effort into it .

I took IB Pyschology and I can get credit for it. I do not plan to pursue pyschology anymore, I want to go into buisness or something. So, should is there any benefit for me to take credit for classes unrelated to what I am studying.

Hi! I am just wondering what king of scores I should be looking at to attend Upenn, with a scholarship if possible? My current SAT score is 2320 with 800s in Chemistry and Math II C. I play water polo and was ranked 4th and 10th last year and this year respectively in the province. Also I run track and cross country( I do fairly well in both). I also do a lot of other activities such as youth parliaments, debate, model UNs and organize some aactivities around school as well. My school is quite competitive, we usually have at least 3 or 4 that go to an ivy and 4 or 5 more that get into a good uni(Stanford, UC Berkeley, etc.) out of 80 or so IB grads. I was just wond…

So it appears to me that virtually every school I'm looking into (including ivy leagues) wants SAT with two subject tests OR ACT with writing. I have taken both for the first time this spring and plan to retake them in the fall. However, I did exceptionally well my first time on the ACT and sort of mediocre/poor on my first SAT. I guess I'm wondering if I only send colleges my ACT scores will the wonder why I didn't send them my SAT's? And will they have any access to them? If they say ACT or SAT do you think they have a preference? Any comments or thoughts would be helpful and much appreciated! Thanks!

So I'm about to enter my final year of the program, and I'm just wondering when do we get our predicteds for our hl's, which courses is sl math equivalent too, if our hl/sl's count as 3/2 courses when applying with your top 6, and if applying with your ib marks is a requirement? I'm quite certain my ib points are only going to be at a 32 or so before bonus points, so I'd rather apply using my top 6. Tanks for your help.

I am going to start IB in September and my subjects are HL= Math, English B, Economics SL= German B, Slovak A (native speaker), Physics I am thinking of studying sth like diplomacy or international relations and I was wondering if I have chosen the right subjects (in fact, to me they seem absolutely out of topic = I am interested in them so I chose them:) My question is: Do the Ivy league universities really care about your subjects? What would be possible better choice?

From Term 1 to Term 2 in my Junior year, I've made a few changes IB subject wise. I went from: - English HL to English SL - Chemistry SL to Chemistry HL - Mathematics HL to Mathematics SL - Geography SL to Geography HL How will universities in the US react to this? It's not really that my grades are bad or anything, but it's more that my interests have changed considerably over the course of the year. Thanks for any feedback on this!

I just took the SAT for the first time and these were my scores: Critical Reading 740 98% Math 660 87% Writing 700 96% Multiple Choice 65 (score range: 20-80) Essay 11 (score range: 2-12) I'm pretty happy with my reading and writing scores but not so happy with math, I know I could get into a lot of schools with these but what I really want to do is to attend a science oriented school and I think my math score will really hurt my chances of getting in. I didn't study or really do any prep for this and I'm thinking that could have had an effect... Any thoughts? Thanks!

Hi guys, I plan to go into Fine Art at University, along with a minor in English, and I'm split between Queens Uni where they've accepted me for a BFA (Bachelors in Fine Art) amongst 30 students, and UofW where I can do an Art and Business co-op with specialization in upper years. I only got around 5 more weeks before the deadline of my University List. I want to head for either East coast of Canada or U.S.A. , but my DP scores (Around 26) might make it harder to get into top-notch U. I want to study Mechanical Engineering so badly , that I've chosen Physics HL , Chemistry SL and Maths SL. Would I have a higher chance to be accepted by Canada Universities ? Or will US be a better option ? (Any suggestions?) *Please state if SAT, TOEFL , ACT are needed*

I scored 2360 on my SAT I and 3 800s on my SAT 2s (Chemistry, Math 2 and English Literature). But I'm on a predicted 36 (excluding bonus points) with HL Maths 5, HL Chem 6, HL Philosophy 7, SL Physics 6, SL German 5 and SL English 7. I'm thinking of applying to some top tier US schools because of my SAT scores, but I'm not sure how high I should reach seeing as my IB doesn't really match my SATs. How important are predicted IB scores? Should I apply to the top schools (e.g. Ivy Leagues) given my circumstances? Thanks guys.

So i was talking to my guidance counselor about IB scores and US universities. Basically the conversation watered down to her telling me to register for the May SAT tests, to treat this year (my first year of IB) end of year exams as if they are my finals and to study as hard as possible in the coming months. What my question is does anyone else have the same experience? I was advised that since transcripts and SAT scores have to be in by November, only my final exams for my first year of IB will be considered for the decisions most universities will make because even though my actual final IB exams will be May 2012, by then i would already have an acceptance letter from …

How does UBC and U of T compare to each other, academic wise? I know U of T is better than UBC, but how far is UBC from U of T? If they are very similar I will probably go to UBC - Vancouver as a city is better for me than Toronto as I'll have family nearby. However, if U of T is much better I will of course go to Toronto. I was also accepted in the U of A - how does this compare to U of T and UBC? Thanks!

hey! i finished the IB with 34 points last november. I started attending university at my host country and I like it, but when I was in 11th grade I dreamed about going to uni in the US or Canada, then I got stuck with IB and couldn´t make it. Do you know of any university that would take my offer NOW, after they decided the admissions? The features that I´m looking for are: *accepts IB diploma students for fall semester *gives credit to IB diploma students *gives scholarships Thanks!

So I was perusing the University of Waterloo's website for the requirements for their math program (which is what I wanted to go into), and it turns out their requirement is HL Math with a minimum of 6. Their Ontario requirement is Gr 12 Calculus and Vectors, and Gr 12 Advanced Functions with I think a minimum of 90%. WTF? My school doesn't have HL Math. Does this mean I can't get in? This is BS.

So i was accepted to mcgill with 36/42 predicted IB points....... but what do i need in the final exams to keep my offer. On my decision letter, it says "Maintain your current academic standard and obtain the IB Diploma" but i heard some people say that its unconditional and getting 30 points in the final is fine. I've been accepted to USC's College of Letters, Arts and Sciences for a biological sciences major, and am likely to enroll in their Freshman Science Honors program, which is basically an advanced version of the normal course with smaller class sizes and more opportunities/special events. I've also been accepted into McGill's Desautel's Faculty of Management and both UBC's and UT's Faculty of Science. I am a Canadian citizen and so Canadian schools will be significantly cheaper for me. For example, McGill will cost me just over CAD$7000/year, but USC will cost almost USD$58000/year. Based on the following, could any of you lead me in the right direction? Right now I am lea…

Does anyone know whether you can omit SAT Subject Tests if you submit your ACT scores to tier 1 colleges? I previously took the ACT and I did much better than I expected, considering I didn't study at all. I am looking to take it again this year, before IB1 is over, and again in IB2 if necessary. However, on top of studying for that, I would have to study for the SAT and the SAT Subject tests (most likely Biology: E, Spanish, and Math Level 2). If I can use the ACT to override the SAT Subject Tests requirements, it would definitely be a load off my back.
