In general, it seems like there are more IB girls than IB guys? What do you think this means?

Hi, I'm going to be a senior this fall and I just figured out a big problem. I am trying to go to an Engineering major and just until now I did not realize that one of the universities I want to go to requires IB Chemistry. Other universities require 1 year of Chemistry so I could try and fit in one semester of Chemistry (since I have already taken chemistry 1). However, the problem is that one college that requires IB Chem. Currently I'm taking Math HL, Physics HL, Computer Science HL, A1 English SL, ITGS SL, and Language B Spanish SL. Since one year had already past, is there any way I can fit in an IB Chemistry course? That would be next to impossible, right? Does a…

Is it possible to continue IB if you finished year one, but you had to move to another school that had IB. Would they just let you finish in their program? I don't know and am freaking out!

I just called my college and it turns out they haven't received any confirmation from the IBO that I passed and all that.. I though they would have received it at the same time we did! Did any of your colleges get them? I'm thinking maybe they've misplaced mine, it's kind of a hippie school and they've done that with other papers of mine.

What does your timetable look like? How many hours per day do you spend in school? Do you always start and end at the same time? I'll start: We change schedules 5 times a year, this is my 4th period. A few skip lessons here and there, but not too many in this period. Best I've had is nine skips in one period. I love the late mornings, don't really mind going home late that much. If someone can't decipher the subject codes they are: 1FiA1H = Finnish A1 HL 2EnA2H = English A2 HL 3EconH = Economics HL 4PhysS = Physics SL 5MathS = Mathematics SL

I can't help but wonder over and over again about what it will feel like to access my results online. In a way I think that it is so cold, seeing all your work flash in front of you on the computer screen, and I'm sort of scared. A letter would somehow feel more comforting, you know. I wanted to hear what sorts of experiences past IB graduates have had and what that day felt like to them. Feel free to reminisce the joy, sorrow or anything in between.

I heard somewhere that it is possible to have your predicted mark show up on your transcript instead of the one given by IB? Is this possible? I got a 5 in Geography SL but I was predicted a 6.

Today I got my results and although they're satisfying (776 on HL, A on EE etc.) no diploma is awarded. Candidate was found guilty of malpractice on ToK essay. I was informed of this accusation some time earlier and it appeared that the materials from the handout provided by my teacher were quoted wrongly, and I quoted them according to the handout. The plagiarism detecting software found the website it comes from and it became a plagiarism issue. However, the whole situation was explained during minutes with my coordinator and tok teacher, and even the materials from my teacher were sent to the IBO. In my teacher's statement he says he admitted to providing me with wron…

Hey, my friends and I were talking and we came up with the conclusion that theoretically, by taking HL courses, we're already self studying for the respective AP courses. For example, we can take the Bio HL exam and then take the AP Bio exam and be fine. I'm just asking for some input on our theory if it is plausible or not. Thanks for any replies

Hello IBSurvival! I'm wondering where certificates can check their results. Is it the same as diploma candidates http://results.ibo.org or is it through a different means because the page seems to emphasize it is for Diploma Candidates. Thank you for your help!

I have Math's HL, Physics HL, Computer Science HL, English A1 SL, Philosophy SL and German B1 One-year course SL. I dont have German next year anymore and i'm left with 5 subjects. I'm currently in year 10, and seriously thinking about taking the IB for year 11 and 12. I live in Australia (bit of background) and want to do Medicine or Psychology at uni. I don't know which maths to take, and at my school they only offer SL and HL. From what I've been seeing around here, the difference isn't that great, but I still need help deciding as subject selections for next year are due soon. The science subjects that I'm taking are Physics and Chem. This year in the IB MYP I'm doing Maths Studies Extension and am sitting on a 5. I have a fair amount of trouble with coordinate geometry but apart from that I'm going fine. Any help? Could you tell me how the SL a…

I am planning to do 4 HLs this coming september, which is when I start IB. I have not decided whether to do English A1 HL or Psychology HL (def. doing Bio. and Chem HL), so I am planning to take 4 HLs, and drop down when I have decided which one I have more interest in. Is this a good idea?

Hello! I was just wondering - how many countries in the world actually make IB students study both IB and the regular studies? Would be nice if people from different countries could just tell how it happens at your place? Cheers&best wishes, Kaneele

What is the life of an IB student like? I'm intrigued by the IB program and I'm considering my application, however, is it really that bad as many say? Like, can you give me an example of a question and tell me the average of how much homework is received on a daily basis? THANKS!

Okay, so May 2010 exams have finished. And I think it's fair to congratulate everyone for striving through the IB for the past 2 years at least, and getting to the end! So no-one has their results yet, and people may think that they've failed/may do resits/etc, but the fact is that we've all gotten this far, and I think we should all just take a moment and enjoy the freedom (Especially as most of my year are doing the a levels so they're still in school. *evil laugh*) So, congrats everyone!!! :D

Lack of Courses? 1 2

I was wondering if anyone had any experience requesting (or the desire to request) a teacher/class for a specific IB course not offered at the school. At my school, there are only two science subjects: Chemistry and Biology. Someone who's interested in Psychology might want to take such, or Business and Management. There are so many varied courses for the six subjects, yet my school offers so little.

Alright, so this is my current schedule for next year (Senior Year): - IB Biology II HL - IB English II HL - IB History II HL - IB Math II SL - IB Spanish V SL - IB TOK - Physics I I want to be a doctor in my future, maybe something with Neuroscience. So, my school is offering IB Psychology next year, and I might want to take that. It just seems like something that would benefit me with Neuroscience and I think I would get a lot more out of it. The problem is that if I want to take this class, I have to drop Physics. Everyone always tells me that this class is extremely important and Ivy-Leagues and other big colleges won't even look at you if you haven't taken Physics. B…

So in my school, I'm in the 2009 candidate class. There are like 110 something girls, and only like 14 guys. It'd be nice, but only a handful are semi-attractive. Whenever you talk to an IB girl, All they wanna talk about is bitch about how much homework they have, they're progress on their current IA, or talk bad about the teachers. It's really bad. Girls: Are you like this in other schools?

Hey guys, okay so while I was looking for helpful links for tomorrow's P2 English A1 essay, I stumbled across a link which pretty much includes links to a lot of subjects in IB, I would've found it very helpful had I been in the first year of IB or at least about to begin my final year It has links to guidelines about IA's, EE's, literature works analysis, pretty much everything! Check it out http://www.angelfire.com/wizard/ib-notes/ I hope you find it helpful! Good luck

Hello. Some of you may already know that I have been having some trouble trying ot choose my 6th IB subject. Here is what i am intending to choose: -Business and Management HL -English A1 HL -Arabic A2 SL -Maths Studies -Physics SL -Geography/History (in HL) I am puzzled in the Geography/History part. I definitley want to go into journalism and masscommunication and all the related, however due to our relatively small numbers in school we have limited choices. I am therefore stuck figuring out wether to choose Geography or History Many of my well-qualified teachers who have have had years of IB experience have suggested Geogprahy since it will give me, according to them…

Hello all, Well, I am prone to suffering from exam anxiety (it is ALWAYS wonderful when you go blank in the middle of a test, or question for that matter), and was wondering as to whether any of you may have any tips on relaxing or learning how to cope with exam anxiety. I think I'm going to give myself an ulcer otherwise :') Thank you, Pathos
