I started a similar thread back in May, without much success...but now that people have their scores maybe there are others who also want to retake in November and have some ideas... I'm looking for ANY schools offering November exams (retakes), I did the IB in Sweden, but now I am back in the states, where retakes are not offered in November. So, I need to find a school. The IB has NOT made a list of schools offering November exams (yes i know if i look up each separate school on the IBO webite it will say 'Students at this school usually take IB exams in May' [or November], but sometimes schools offer November retakes, even if they usually test in May, AND, i simply do …

With the IB results' date coming within a few days, I'm excited as many would be. Anyways, I'm feeling like a philanthropist; so, when the results come out, I'd like to donate/upload all of my IB work to IBSurvival.com as a way to say thanks and also for my documents to serve as examples to other aspiring IB conquerors. I wanted to know how would I be able to do this uploading so that it may go into the correct subject area and also put my grade on these documents so others may see it? Thanks and good luck to all!

Hopefully this is the right location for this discussion! I was thinking about how bizarre all of our IB IAs have been, at least where I am. Even between departments we had massive discrepancies in terms of how IA terms were delivered. Some subject teachers allowed drafts to be written for Science subjects, and therefore for improvements to be made, whereas other Science teachers used any questions you asked them as an excuse to drop marks from your final IA grade, and certainly would never consider a draft anything short of cheating. I know it definitely changed my grades for those subjects to have considerable help with one, and nothing short of negative help for the ot…

Hey not exactly new here, been lurking around for quite some time since I haven't started IB yet, doing my IGCSE's at the moment, but just submitted by choices for IB1 and have got a concern that my choices might seem a little easy or something and therefore universities could look at my diploma and think that I have chosen easy subjects for HL and decide to reject me in favour of another candidate who has chosen harder HL's... Anyways my choices are: Arabic B HL (I am fluent in Arabic but the highest level of Arabic my school offers is B HL) Business and Management HL Computer Science HL Physics HL/SL (I'm starting it as HL but gonna drop it to SL, just taking it as HL i…

Hello, i was just wondering what would happen if you get like a 2 in one standard level subject or a 3 in hl subject during the Ib 1 final exams in school? would you have to repeat the year again?? or can you go into the final IB year?? Are there any specific provisions on this mentioned by the I.b??

Well, obviously, I know how to get a 7. Do all your homework, study a lot, have a little bit of natural intelligence, listen during class... However, I would like to know what technically counts as a 7. For example I thought 5-85%-89% 6-90%-95% 7-96%-100% Well, that's what I thought originally. I later found out that a level 7 in HL for my school is actually 78%, because HL math is so difficult. Is my school different or something? Do you need a 96%-100% for every subject in order to get level 7s for those? FYI, I'm taking HL: English, Bio, History SL: Business Management, Chinese, Studies

Hi everyone. I've been doing IB for about 4 months now and I heard the weirdest thing a couple of weeks ago. My ecos teacher said she and IBO prefer hand written reports, IA papers and that will make difference if someone's mark is the highest 6. (If its hand written, the person will get 7 but for printed stuffs, the person will get 6) And I thought that was completely insane! I myself, reckon its always always easier to read something that was typed or printed or whatever. Is this true? since I SUCK at handwriting.

Our school started the IB program in September 08 but after one year they are planning to stop offering it as an alternative to A Levels. This decision does not affect my year however I feel it is the wrong decision. The reason that the school has given is that it can no longer run the course due to financial troubles. Please Please Please can anybody suggest a viable solution or solutions as we can all agree that no school should have to discontinue the IB after only one year. Thanks in advance for any solutions. Especially if you are involved in a school which has undergone a similar situation.

Did anyone hear about the paper 1 for Math at standard level? Almost all of the grade 12 Ibs that I have talked to said they failed it, mainly due to vectors. It really worries me because it was our teachers who said to them that vectors will not be a huge part of the exam. But what do you know, half of the paper is on vectors. Makes me wonder if my current teachers are keeping anything away from us. If anyone else knows about this situation or actually took the exam, feel free to post a comment.

I'm trying to buy some books. I'm allowed to buy only three though... I want books for Math SL, Chem HL, Biology HL and maybe Psychology SL. Should I buy Heinemann or Course Companions from IB? I want the better one, not the cheaper one ^^ Heinemann is publishing their HL level Chemistry book in a month.

In my school, it is basically agreed among the students that English HL and Math HL screw us over the most. So, I wonder if this is the case at your school also? What are the IB subjects perceived to be the most difficult in your school?

I've been wondering... How do IB schools work in countries where the school year doesn't start in the fall and doesn't end in the spring? I know for Japan and India, school starts around springtime. Do the IB schools just operate on the set IB calendar? And if you go to one of these schools, what is it like? Do you guys have overlapping holidays with your friends who are not in the IB program?

2 months before exams and I only thought of ordering revision guides today. Late, but still. Before I actually order any, I have some questions. How long does it take for the revision guides to be delivered by post? An answer from someone who's ordered them to a country outside Europe would probably be what I'm looking for. I live in the Middle East, and it take about 2 weeks for post to reach me from England. Is it the same? Do they send it by regular mail or can it be sent express? Also, is it worth buying the Chemistry, Biology and French guides? I checked the price with postage for 2 of those, and it would be 58 British pounds/60 Euros. I don't want to ask my parents…

Has anyone moved halfway through their diploma? I'm moving in about a month and a half to Australia (from Switzerland) and will complete the IB there. Since they're on a different school year, I have to repeat 6 months of the first year again... fun. Does anyone have any advice? My teachers seem to think it will be beneficial, but I'm only seeing it as a complicated mess.

I'm having a bit of trouble studying and doing homework. I'm just too slow - whereas other people might take one hour to do an essay, it might take me two. Or three. When I'm doing reading assignments I tried making outlines, but it takes me three hours to do two pages, and I just gave up recently. How do you guys get all of your homework and studying done in the time you have and still get any sleep?

From what I understand, a minimum of 24 points are required to earn an IB diploma. . . . I"ve done the EE and TOK and CAS requirements. In case I get a final score below 24 (like a 20 or 18 . . i dunno), what will my status be? Does that mean I am automatically a certificate student. Are all students who don't qualify in diploma category, put into the certificate category? Or, are there minimum point requirements for certificate students as well? If a student gets a low score in the teens, is that student also a certificate stduent? Also, if anyone has the guide for assessment details . . . and could share it, that would be great. Thanks.

My English class (it’s a pre-IB enriched class) recently had a test. The test that we were having was one that really pissed me off. It was the sort of test that one wouldn’t normally receive in IB. Basically, it was to test us on whether we finished reading the book or not. Being a prospective IB student, I was one of the few students who had read the book. The test was unusually difficult for me, and I knew that I did poorly. When we got the test back, I was slightly shocked to see that I received one of the lowest marks in the class. It was like a slap in the face, since some of the members of my class who hadn’t even read the book, got better than me. This slap still …

by no means i want to get into your personal life, first of all. i was just wondering, you know, as a IB student, we have to undergo a lot of pressures. we want to do great in every perspectives, but does that mean we have to spend 18 hours on school works? a lot of my friends don't study at all, and guess what they make on their report cards? 100 or above. that is crazy!! one of my girlfriends ( female friends) study literally 6 hours or more, and she said it is worth it. personally, i study at the last minute, and just like a normal human being, i didn't do so hot, of course. i mean, do you have to give up your social life to trade for that diploma? if that's true, do y…

I've become convinced that my history teacher doesn't like me. It's hard to describe it but he doesn't even acknowledge my presence, (Last time my friend and I were late to a class, we told him we were sorry that we were late and he didn't even look at us ) and there is something, perhaps intuition, that tells me he doesn't like me. Is anyone out there in the same boat? And do you think having a teacher who doesn't like me will affect my final grade? Thanks guys.

I've recently gotten a few of my predicted IA scores back. Specifically, for TOK, we're asked to report the mark we felt that should've been given to us in the presentation (the final one ). So, I'm just wondering if we're allowed to give ourselves... let's say... a 17.5/20 as opposed to an 18/20?

Hi, I am attending a school who has just started offering the IB Diploma this year. My concern is that becuase it is their first year, that something could be overlooked or go horribly wrong (as can sometimes happen in the first years). It should be noted that all of the teachers who are teaching us are IB accredited, and one (soon to be two) of them have been teaching the Diploma for several years, and they're all highly competent and well educated on the IB, i still can't shake the feeling that something might slip through, becuase its the first year. I was wondering if anyone has any comments or suggestions which could put my fears to rest. Cheers, Rob

Hey everyone. I'm not sure if it's only my school... but to my knowledge, a lot of IB students take the exams in yearly chunks. I don't know many people who take all 6 in a year. So, I was just wondering... what exams did you / are you going to take in Year 1 and then Year 2? My year 1 exams are French B SL and Economics SL. My year 2 exams are Math HL, Chem HL, English A1 HL, and Bio SL.

Next year I'm about to visit some schools and have presentations on the IB program. So, I've been planning the composition of my presentation and considering the things those students might want to know. If you were in a situation like this, what would you like them to know? What were the reasons that made you finally take this program? What didn't you know about IB before taking it and what would you have liked to know? Are there some things that you find extremely important to be aware of? From a student's point of view, what is the best thing in this program? etc. I would be delighted if you answered any kind of questions that would make IB sound more and …
