I am about to enter the IB program (yr. 11 and 12). I have seen some seniors in my school who seem like they know it all or they know some secret about IB that is helping them average high scores with the least work possible. I could be paranoid but I don't think so - I am really sensing something. Is there some useful, real methods or secrets to adapting/succeeding in IB?

Okay so I registered for Language A1 in May and missed both the Oral and the exams parts... Does anybody know if it is possible to register for a retake the next year then? I would very much appreciate if anyone could give me some idea to the answer of this situation!!!!!!!! I've tried to contact my coordinator but did not get any reply from her. I know this teacher does not like me very much so I'm doubting that she might want to wait until the deadline's passed to dissed me out of the school!!!! I've also tried to contact other IB schools but they said they won't register the students from another school just for a retake... I feel like I'm in a very sticky situation ri…

For those of who you who are a bit preoccupied please post here the reason for your fear and what you plan to do about it. I will start. I'm not too scared but I'm dreading the constant deadlines, in fact they have already started. EE, WL, History IA and 2 exams in Math and Chem. I fear that I will go off track and not meet the deadlines. I'm kind of not meeting one now the EE first draft. What I plan to do about it, is to keep working out and plan out my day. My week days will consist of work will regular intervals of 15 minutes to relax and a 30 min run at least every 2 days to keep my mind fresh as well as body

I am in my first month into the IB course and I kind of still can't find myself to choose the right subject. I am Thai and my choices are... Physics HL Math HL Thai A2 HL English A1 SL Chemistry SL Business & Management SL My school offers very few subjects so there aren't much subjects to choose from. I really have no problem with English A1 right now nor with Business. However, I am feeling that Math HL and Physics HL is something that is hard for me to wrap my head around. I am pretty good at Mathematics or Physics (keeping up with the classes), but I just don't have the 'feel good' factor when learning those subjects. However, I am feeling like I want to change to…

Extended Essay grading deadline for examiners is 1st of May. most of your EE has already been 'graded' for those who is in May 10' session. .... How scary is that. I feel like I have crossed the river that you can never come back.

Hello! I am two weeks into the Full IB program and I am already dying. I am managing my time really really badly. My average day consists of this: 7:00 - Wake up/get ready/all that jazz 8:00 - 3:00 - Get through school 3:15 - Arrive home 3:15 - 7:00 - Facebook, Homework complaining, etc. 7:00 - 9:00 - Attempt to begin working 9:00 - 1:00 - Do all of work and have no time to study at all. I really need someone to help me set up some sort of time schedule so I really do not mess up and not get my diploma. Please please please please please help me, before I really mess up. I have an upcoming Biology Unit test and a Math Quiz (I suck at math, no joke). And I would really lik…

I was wondering if any of you were thinking of giving away or selling any new or used course companions? I'm specifically looking for Economics, Chemistry, and Physics course companions. It is absolutely necessary that if you are doing so that it's in Canada so that it saves complications (I am in Toronto). Please and thank you!

This is the thread for you to share your results. Please refrain from congratulating other people, even if they did achieve 45 points. Offer commiserations and felicitations in this thread. Congratulations if you've passed. Tough luck if you've failed, good luck if you're going to retake. Let the games begin.

I am considering switching out of IB French HL to get a free first period, however I need another HL class to replace it and the only one my school offers that I am considering is Math HL. So my question is: Can anyone tell me which class I should probably take, Math or French HL, to make my life easier this coming year (I am a senior)? and if not maybe someone can give me an idea of the rigor of Math HL or French HL? Thanks

i'm really keen on going to France to study with student exchange for five months in the second semester of year 10. Is this a good idea? since i know it will really help me with IB french. the only problem is i know i'll get quite behind when it comes to my other subjects because even though i'm going to school there, i probably won't really understand most of what they're saying! and i'm worried that having missed 5 months of school back home i won't be able to catch up in time for IB. has anyone else done this? do you think going to France will affect my abilities in IB? thanks for all your help!!

Hi everyone, I am writing from a small country located in Central Europe and I'm done with grade 10, thus I have to decide whether to take IB exams instead of my local ones. In my country there are only a few IB schools that offer the IB Diploma Programme and are all very competitive (the average assessment results range from 34 to 39). I am a good student, and so far I don't think I wouldn't be accepted at any of them, nevertheless there is an issue that is worrying me; if I take my local exams I would probably achieve a perfect score. I don't really know if a perfect score with a TOEFL exam would be enough to enter Oxbridge, Ivy League or other well known universities (…

Helow, basically i finished may exams with 22 points so i lack 2 points for the diploma... i chose ITGS, B&M and ENG... Until now i have passed the B&M Book and started the ITGS Computer Confluence book... my request is if someone can give me some tips, guidelines or plans on how to successfully get to know the subjects perfectly so that i am ready after 3 months. I had ITGS 3, BM 3 and English 5 on finals... whereas on Mock exams i had ITGS 5, BM 4 and English 5... i really don't know how i fell so much especially in ITGS where i thought i knew lots, but that is the reason why i didnt study much. If you were in my position, how would you study. Thanks

Hey! In november i'll be writing my IB Exams! I plan to start revising the fist day of september, as it is the time when I finish my IA's. I need tips from past IB graduates. How did you manage your time to study? How many hours per day? By the way IB exams relly scare me, although my predicted grade is around 28 (not sure for now). I'm really nervous because of the exams as I heard that some where really hard last MAY 2010. Please sooth my nerves! And also, do you have any study tips for the subjects I'm taking? Lang. A1 HL, Lang. A2 HL, Hist. SL, Art HL, Math SL, & Physics SL? thanks in advance!

Basically, I already have a hunch i'll be quite dissatisfied come July ...I know it's possible for candidates to retake in November, but my school only offers May exams/retakes, so you are personally responsible for finding a school that offers November exams, and organizing it yourself with that school...and obviously financing it (ouchhhh, but hey it's my own fault if i have to re-do in the first place...w/e) So, if you know of any schools offering November 2009 retakes please post!...preferably OUTSIDE OF THE SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE, conversely in Europe or the Americas... Also, are there any US schools that offer November 2009 retakes (I know this would be highly unusua…

Hi guys, so here is my story: I'm Italian and our colleges are 5 years long, after which you are allowed to enter any university as long as you passed the exams. I finished the 4th year in June and should kick off the last one on the 13th september.. it's just that I've been staying in London for six weeks to boost my English and I am supposed to fly back to my country in two weeks; the point is I love London so much I don't want to leave it and would like to complete my studies here, so i was wondering if i could enroll an IB diploma programme here in London but just for the last year (as in my country I have just one year left before uni). If so, am I still in time? How…

Hi, something I've been confused with: 1, I've seen people that take exams in November, then take the remaining exams next year's May. What if I am not satisfied of the results in the November exams? Do I get a chance to take them again in May? 2, Retakes... Assume that I failed 2010 May exams. Do I retake in 2010 November? Or do I retake them in 2011 May? What happens to the CAS, TOK, IAs? Do I have to retake all subjects? Thanks for helping. My school didn't explain any of these to us.

I hope I'm allowed to post this here. (Sorry if not!) Having finished the IB this year, I have a lot of books randomly around my room, which I'd like to sell. I've put them up on ebay, so you can reach them their. If you don't have ebay and would like a book, please PM asap. The books, of course, are all used books. However, they are all in very good condition. A few have my name in the front, but the pages are very readable and useable. I take paypal, so if you don't use £s, then I will take the equivalent of your money. A list of all books on ebay can be found here The books I'm selling are: Psychology IB Psychology Paper 1 Revision Guide HL&SL - £12.00 Mathematics …

Hello! I am a soon to be IB student and well I have chosen my subject choices I have chosen to do: English HL Chinese ab History HL Maths Studies Biology SL Philosophy HL I feel unsure whether to take Maths Studies and an ab initio language. How is this viewed by universities? Because to me having these two subjects make me sound less dedicated(?). I feel I am hopeless at maths (I am a B grade student) hence my teachers have suggested to do studies because I lack confidence it in and I agree. I want to do Chinese ab initio being Chinese and not being able to speak it is really the reason why I want to do it. My parents also like the idea of me studying Chinese too. I d…

Hi guyyyyss. I'm new here. Anyways, I transferred to a bigger school mid-last year so I could start IB1 this year, as a Junior. I skipped a grade though, so I'm a little young. (Still 15..) I'll be taking: Math SL (we don't offer HL) Bio HL, English HL, History HL, Physics SL, and Spanish SL, and of course ToK. What should I be doing in-prep? It starts in oh, a month. As it is I've taken and aced Math 252 (More or less Calculus AB) through the Uni of North Dakota, so Math SL shouldn't be a problem. I'm fluent in Spanish as linguistics is a hobby for me, and I've been studying a lot of Bio (I want to go into Evo Devo and neuropsych) so I've been reading a lot of books on e…

"Students Gamble on International Baccalaureate" http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/education/article6735896.ece (Click on spoiler to read article). I'm just curious to see what people's opinions are in terms of where the blame lies for this sort of thing and whether there ought to be a greater degree of IBO involvement with schools, rather than a franchise-esque model in which they allow a school to be an IB school, and then have little else to do with it.

YOU KNOW YOU ARE IB WHEN..... You And Reality file for divorce. You have great revelations concerning Life, the Universe, and Everything else, but can't quite find the words for them before the white glow fades, leaving you more confused than before. You begin to talk to yourself, then disagree about the subject, get into a nasty row about it, lose, and refuse to talk to yourself for the rest of the day. Five words: "WHY ARE WE DOING THIS?!?!?!?!?" You can spell "Baccalaureate". "I.B., therefore I B.S." "Friends" and "fellow IBers" are interchangeable. You've fooled yourself into believing that colleges actually care whether you're in IB or not. You frequently ca…

Sweden screws the IB 1 2 3

As of next uni term the universities in our great country of Sweden will be considering our hard earned IB diploma not as an international diploma, but as a foreign one. meaning that even a student who has taken Swedish A1 HL will not have a Swedish certified diploma. For those who do not know, the Swedish system of accepting students to Uni is to put them in three groups depending on various factors which no sane person would get. out of the three groups group 3 has the smallest percentage of acceptances. And guess which group IB diplomas go to... that’s right, group three! and whats more, it is not as if a 45 pointer with an ib diploma goes on the tom of that list... O…
