Just throwing this out there, because I see a lot of questions and a lot of wishy-washy answers about this... Your score in certain subjects is made up of components that are internally assessed and externally moderated Addition: some components, like your World Literature essay(s), ToK essay, and of course Extended Essay, are not moderated but assessed (i.e. all sent off) [thanks for lynyrd and imopotato for pointing out that the WL is not moderated] For others, like your IOC, Mathematics portfolios, Science Lab Reports, Economics Portfolio, (and so on), your teacher sends out a "representative" sample The size of this sample depends on the number of students in your cl…

Here are a list of IB official teacher support materials for various subjects, and proved to be invaluable for me while doing my internal assessments (and also external assessment for theatre) for all subjects as it provides many exemplars both good and bad. I couldn't find the TSM for economics though... (Thanks Vioh) Comment below if you have any other teacher support material (2016) so I can add it below: Theory of Knowledge - https://ibpublishing.ibo.org/server2/rest/app/tsm.xql?doc=d_0_tokxx_tsm_1305_1_e∂=5&chapter=2&mode=moderator Theatre - https://ibpublishing.ibo.org/server2/rest/app/tsm.xql?doc=d_6_theat_tsm_1408_1_e∂=1&chapter=1 Physics - https://i…

Having done the IB I know full well it's not just me who has time management/procrastination issues, so hopefully other people will find this useful (should there be an answer xP). I've never actually gone as far as a timetable before, but I feel it has become necessary because I genuinely suck at doing anything decent with my time unless forced Does anybody know of some free software which I can use to make myself a daily timetable a la computer? Thanks in advance!

I just moved to a school with IB, I'm currently a Sophomore in Pre-IB, with a few IB and AP classes. Taking IB Pre-Calculus and it's not that bad at all. I'm a straight A student. What's the difference between Higher Level and Standard Level, what requirements are needed to be in a HL class? Does IB have any requirements as to which classes are HL and which are SL? What's the final requirement for the IB Diploma? I just feel so lost when people try explaining it to me. Thanks for any help ^.^

Sup people of the IB. I found a short guide that I wrote a while ago that deals with stress and procrastination. I'll add more to it later (the irony but it is late ) so hopefully it's helpful. There's more to come if I remember Stress Firstly stress at school is mainly caused by lack of organisation. So sorting that out could half or even eliminate your 'i want to rip the hair out of my head' feeling! How to organise work: Invest in a folder if you write notes with a note book and use folder separators to make things easier. This makes losing notes a lot less likely because they are in a named folder. Plus it makes you feel really professional If you're feeling …

As we may have known, the IBDP course is available for examinations in English, French and Spanish. Which language are/were you doing IBDP course in? Is/was your school only offering that language type of course? Any interest in doing the IBDP in another language? I am doing IBDP in English. I think all IB schools in Indonesia offer their courses in English it would be great if we had it in Bahasa Indonesia but I guess I'll still prefer the English course because it will help me to improve my English and prepare me to study abroad What about you guys?

I just want to share the reality that is happening at Australian International School Dhaka, Bangladesh. This is so unfortunate to find out that the mentioned school is a prestigious IB World School in Bangladesh where the MYP coordinator is not competent enough to conduct her activities at school by showing negative attitudes towards the parents and supporting a teacher who is not capable enough to conduct classes as well. The coordinator is very much biased towards the science teacher who is having chemistry background and do teaches Physics at the 9th class where she is not being able to even teach the very basic issues. We the parents have complained again and again b…

hi all, i am currently a year 11 student attending an international school in asia. as such, i am currently preparing to sit my igcse exams in 2023 and beginning the process of selecting ib options. for some context, i am still unsure of what i want to pursue in my post-secondary education. my two main potential routes are classical music (i come from a musical family and play both classical piano and violin at a diploma level), and an undecided area of study in the humanities/social sciences (my main interests include economics, international relations/geopolitics, etc. - i have also considered a ppe (or equivalent) degree as well as law). i have also recentl…

Hi all, I'm thinking of doing my Math IA (I take Applications and Interpretations at the standard level) on the correlation between two factors, using Pearson's Correlation Coefficient and Chi-Squared Test and perhaps as an extension comparing the precision between these two methods. Is this too simple, or can I still score well (as in a 6/7) in the mathematical understanding aspect? Cheers.

Hi guys, I was just wondering if there's anybody with the same problem as me. I just came to another country from Russia and was not expecting that at all, but anyway i got to IB, started my lessons and I was shocked at how the whole process of teaching is different. It feels like nobody's teaching us, but we must do it ourselves. Maybe somebody from countries near Russia, which I know has the same process of studying and teaching as there, faced the same problem as me? How did u handle it, taking to the point the speed of the whole IB and how fast are u passing the topics?

Hi Y'all, I'm wanting to do my History IA on the berlin wall because I'm interested in the German culture. I don't really know much about the topic at the moment to create a proper question to make an analysis. But with the research i have done im interested in how the nation made agreements and or treaties to "allow" the wall to be brought up and how it affected the civilians in Germany. so my struggle is to create a question to make it sound semi solid. Maybe the idea of "The effect of the berlin wall during 1958-1961 on societal and geopolitical standards" any ideas? :) thank you for whoever helps

I'm good with I'm not rly good at my subjects but I'm sure I can pull them up if I try harder. The thing is PHYSICS. I got 1 on my last test ( and usually get low grades such as 3). Idk what to do. So if I start now will they give me good ones? Overall what do u think bout it? Also the thing is technically I can drop phys and c…

Hello, I'm currently in G10 but I just want to ask and prepare for the IB in advance. I haven't studied in overseas for a long period so my english ability is worse than others. (I'm an EAL student.) Though I got high score in the english proficiency test, I'm not sure if it is okay to take the English A SL instead of choosing English B HL. I heard that English B has more disadvantages compare to English A SL... what should I do?

Hi! I’ll be choosing my subjects this year and I really need help in choosing them. I’d like to study astrophysics or astronomy later on but is it possible to choose physics and biology HL? I can choose only two as my school requires that we take English as one of the HL’s. I was thinking about it and heard bad opinions on HL maths, but I have a thing for biology so would it be possible to get into astrophysics with SL maths, HL physics and HL biology?

Hi! I'm doing the Ib entrance exam for Alexander Mackenzie High School. I have no idea how to practice nor does the website for the school have anything helpful about the exam. Does anyone know any books/websites that can help with the french and english portion of the exam? Or even for the math portion. Also does anyone have a link for a practice exam? Do the grade 7 final report card marks weigh a lot on the application? (My average was 93.5) Sorry for all the questions, but you would be a lifesaver if you could answer them! Thank you and have a nice day.

I'm an international IB student who got into Cambridge's Veterinary Medicine program but cannot afford to pay their overseas tuition (9x the domestic student fees!!). I applied to the Cambridge Trust's scholarships but none of them answered me. I also tried to look up some national scholarships from where I'm from but none of them get close to covering a significant portion of the tuition. Going to Cambridge is my lifelong dream and I'm not ready to let this opportunity go away, especially after all the effort I put into these past years. Can somebody help?
