There are many threads around this giant forum that offer help, tips, advice, places to ask questions and get answer etc. etc. but like I said, it's a giant forum and finding them all, or finding the very one YOU need can be difficult. So here's a quick list of some awesome threads that you can use to help you with anything you might need. General IB Awesomeness 1. How To Not Fail at Writing Essays - READ THIS. Don't start your first essay without reading this. It's amazing, you just don't know it yet. 2. Citing The Sources - READ THIS TOO. If you do not cite right, it's plagiarism. Here are a list of IB official teacher support materials for various subjects, and proved to be invaluable for me while doing my internal assessments (and also external assessment for theatre) for all subjects as it provides many exemplars both good and bad. I couldn't find the TSM for economics though... (Thanks Vioh) Comment below if you have any other teacher support material (2016) so I can add it below: Theory of Knowledge - https://ibpublishing.ibo.org/server2/rest/app/tsm.xql?doc=d_0_tokxx_tsm_1305_1_e∂=5&chapter=2&mode=moderator Theatre - https://ibpublishing.ibo.org/server2/rest/app/tsm.xql?doc=d_6_theat_tsm_1408_1_e∂=1&chapter=1 Physics - https://i…

As we may have known, the IBDP course is available for examinations in English, French and Spanish. Which language are/were you doing IBDP course in? Is/was your school only offering that language type of course? Any interest in doing the IBDP in another language? I am doing IBDP in English. I think all IB schools in Indonesia offer their courses in English it would be great if we had it in Bahasa Indonesia but I guess I'll still prefer the English course because it will help me to improve my English and prepare me to study abroad What about you guys?

Just throwing this out there, because I see a lot of questions and a lot of wishy-washy answers about this... Your score in certain subjects is made up of components that are internally assessed and externally moderated Addition: some components, like your World Literature essay(s), ToK essay, and of course Extended Essay, are not moderated but assessed (i.e. all sent off) [thanks for lynyrd and imopotato for pointing out that the WL is not moderated] For others, like your IOC, Mathematics portfolios, Science Lab Reports, Economics Portfolio, (and so on), your teacher sends out a "representative" sample The size of this sample depends on the number of students in your cl…

Having done the IB I know full well it's not just me who has time management/procrastination issues, so hopefully other people will find this useful (should there be an answer xP). I've never actually gone as far as a timetable before, but I feel it has become necessary because I genuinely suck at doing anything decent with my time unless forced Does anybody know of some free software which I can use to make myself a daily timetable a la computer? Thanks in advance!

I just moved to a school with IB, I'm currently a Sophomore in Pre-IB, with a few IB and AP classes. Taking IB Pre-Calculus and it's not that bad at all. I'm a straight A student. What's the difference between Higher Level and Standard Level, what requirements are needed to be in a HL class? Does IB have any requirements as to which classes are HL and which are SL? What's the final requirement for the IB Diploma? I just feel so lost when people try explaining it to me. Thanks for any help ^.^

Sup people of the IB. I found a short guide that I wrote a while ago that deals with stress and procrastination. I'll add more to it later (the irony but it is late ) so hopefully it's helpful. There's more to come if I remember Stress Firstly stress at school is mainly caused by lack of organisation. So sorting that out could half or even eliminate your 'i want to rip the hair out of my head' feeling! How to organise work: Invest in a folder if you write notes with a note book and use folder separators to make things easier. This makes losing notes a lot less likely because they are in a named folder. Plus it makes you feel really professional If you're feeling …

Hi there, So for context, I am new to the IB and my subjects are HL: Math AA, Physics and economics and my SLs: Chem/Business, English LL and French B/Spanish AB. I want to take up computer science in the future. I am a little hesitant to let go of chemistry, what do you think? Also, I have studied French until Grade 10 and I was pretty good at it. I would prefer to take easier subjects as I am still getting used to the IB and I have pretty heavy HLs. Thanks for your help!

I’m starting DP G11 in a few weeks debating whether I should swap my Econ HL class for a Business Management HL class if I’m planning on studying Finance and Accounting at Kings College London. I know many users stating universities prioritise Econ over BM but I can’t find any information on KCL’s prioritisation. Not sure whether to prioritise grades (BM has a higher 7 rate while Econ at my school is allegedly quite challenging according to the upper grades) or subject course, please give some advice

I’m going to start IB next year and I’m taking Chem HL, Biol HL, Maths AA HL, Polish A SL, Business SL I’m not planning on studying anything related to humanities. I just want to make this sixth subject as easy as possible and many people are saying that English A is really difficult. Is taking English B HL and having 4 HLs worth it?

Hello, I'm taking IB starting next year. I'm planning to take English B, Math, Physics, and History HL with Chemistry and Indonesian A SL, but I'm really confused on what to choose because I have not decided my major in uni yet + I don't like chem at all. Do you think its an idiotic choice or should I go with it? Is it a too hard combination? If you have any experience with this combo, please do tell.

We've just started the spring term in the first year of IB Diploma, and I've been considering dropping my SL french for HL math (due to schedule overlap problems between the two). As a consequence, I would need to drop the diploma, but the classes would still be IB-based. I have a meeting scheduled with our school's IB coordinator in a few days, and I've been told the likeliness of joining are severely low. My math teacher has given the green light for switching as long as I do some catch-up work for the course, but the University Guidance Councillor says that there will be other problems such as the hour-quota for HL classes & additional scheduling problems. …

Hey guys, I had a question about the exam booklet. When I was writing my question numbers in the boxes, I accidetnly wrote number 4 when I had to write number 5. I crossed the 4 out, and wrote the 5 on top of it (but it was outside of the white number box and in the pink area). Will it be seen by examiners? I showed it to my coordinator and asked if its fine, she said it should be fine but didn't sound too sure. later I heard some people talking about how IB examiners won't see what is writter in the pink place at all. The thing is, my questions were not in order, I first answered question 3, then question 5 and then 4. Because I didn't know 4 and skipped it so I could wo…

Hey guys, i wrote my exam yesterday. I had to write the question number on the white box which is on the side. I think I mixed up the questions. Like, I think I wrote question number 5 in the booklet white box but wrote the answer for question 6 and vice versa. I’m not sure what to do because I was so stressed I’m not sure I even did that. But there is a nagging thought in my mind that I mixed the corresponding answers to corresponding questions. What do I do??

Hi everyone! Today, I had my Maths SL Paper 1. I study at EaB International - The Victor Hugo School in Paris, France. Accidentally, I wrote my candidate number wrong. Instead of writing 1443-011 I wrote 0443-011. I told my IB co-ordinator, who told me to darken a stick one as there are now digital numbers used. I could not change my answer booklet because I wrote my candidate session number at the end of my examination. I handed my exam in with a darkened stick one. However, it kind of looks like a zero. I am extremely worried that I may not be eligible to receive my diploma.

Hello, I have to confirm my IB subjects very soon as I will be going to grade 10, right now my subjects are: HL: Business Management, Math AA, Design Technology, SL: Visual art, Chinese B, Language and literature. However, my strong suit is not in math, I would be more confident in doing a humanities subject. I am not sure if I should keep to these subjects because I want to study business management or commerce (but pretty flexible) in the UK but they do not all require math. However, at top unis the requirements are mostly math HL a grade 7/7 for majors like economics or finance. I want to aim for some top universities, despite my major, would it be worth it to cho…

Hello, Due to a health issue my daughter failed 3 subjects at DP2 mocks this winter. The school is pushing to go to finals in May, but we as parents are sure she will not pass. Did anyone repeat DP2 year which is second year of DP? Or maybe the whole program from start? The school says repeating DP2 is not possible. Resits in November would not work as my daughter needs to undergo a health treatment. Resits next year in May may also not work due to subject content change. what would you advise in this case? Many thanks

Help me, I'm in BC, and pre-IB applications are opening on Jan 8th. My grades for term 1 are absolutely horrible. I got 3 'Developing' and the rest 'Proficient.' Right now, I need help understanding what is on the pre-IB entrance exam, the interview process, and how to prove to my teacher that I have what it takes to get into IB. Additionally, I'm seeking guidance on study strategies to improve my grades. I also need my teacher's recommendation. Currently, I received 'Developing' in English, Science, and French. I really want to get into pre-IB, so please help me.

Hello all! I am currently deciding on DP choices and would love some input from more experienced people! I am planning on doing biochem and/or international relations. Because of that, my current choices are as follows: Bio HL Chem HL History HL Mathematics AA/AI SL Italian B SL English A SL What math course applies best? I was leaning toward AI because it seems to work best with Biochem, however I really don’t know. I am alright at math but nowhere near where I need to be for HL. So. Any suggestions?

So I want to change my History IA question from my initial one but my teacher said she's not allowed/can't/doesn't want to approve of my new question, which is, "In what ways did the role of communism in North Korea affect the persecution of religious freedom?" Should I change my topic to this as my original isn't very personal and I would find it hard to work efficiently on it? Is this question valid, and appropriate to ask? The Criterion A also due for me in 2 days.

Hey! My exams are in May 2025 and so far I've been doing these subjects: Math AA HL Physics HL Econ HL English LaL SL Italian A SSST SL Chemistry SL My goal is to get into a top university in the US or UK in physics (astrophysics) or aerospace engineering, right now I'm predicted all 7s and a 6 in AA (although I know this early it doesn't count for much) except for chemistry where I'm predicted a 5.
