Just throwing this out there, because I see a lot of questions and a lot of wishy-washy answers about this... Your score in certain subjects is made up of components that are internally assessed and externally moderated Addition: some components, like your World Literature essay(s), ToK essay, and of course Extended Essay, are not moderated but assessed (i.e. all sent off) [thanks for lynyrd and imopotato for pointing out that the WL is not moderated] For others, like your IOC, Mathematics portfolios, Science Lab Reports, Economics Portfolio, (and so on), your teacher sends out a "representative" sample The size of this sample depends on the number of students in your cl…

Here are a list of IB official teacher support materials for various subjects, and proved to be invaluable for me while doing my internal assessments (and also external assessment for theatre) for all subjects as it provides many exemplars both good and bad. I couldn't find the TSM for economics though... (Thanks Vioh) Comment below if you have any other teacher support material (2016) so I can add it below: Theory of Knowledge - https://ibpublishing.ibo.org/server2/rest/app/tsm.xql?doc=d_0_tokxx_tsm_1305_1_e∂=5&chapter=2&mode=moderator Theatre - https://ibpublishing.ibo.org/server2/rest/app/tsm.xql?doc=d_6_theat_tsm_1408_1_e∂=1&chapter=1 Physics - https://i…

Having done the IB I know full well it's not just me who has time management/procrastination issues, so hopefully other people will find this useful (should there be an answer xP). I've never actually gone as far as a timetable before, but I feel it has become necessary because I genuinely suck at doing anything decent with my time unless forced Does anybody know of some free software which I can use to make myself a daily timetable a la computer? Thanks in advance!

I just moved to a school with IB, I'm currently a Sophomore in Pre-IB, with a few IB and AP classes. Taking IB Pre-Calculus and it's not that bad at all. I'm a straight A student. What's the difference between Higher Level and Standard Level, what requirements are needed to be in a HL class? Does IB have any requirements as to which classes are HL and which are SL? What's the final requirement for the IB Diploma? I just feel so lost when people try explaining it to me. Thanks for any help ^.^

Sup people of the IB. I found a short guide that I wrote a while ago that deals with stress and procrastination. I'll add more to it later (the irony but it is late ) so hopefully it's helpful. There's more to come if I remember Stress Firstly stress at school is mainly caused by lack of organisation. So sorting that out could half or even eliminate your 'i want to rip the hair out of my head' feeling! How to organise work: Invest in a folder if you write notes with a note book and use folder separators to make things easier. This makes losing notes a lot less likely because they are in a named folder. Plus it makes you feel really professional If you're feeling …

As we may have known, the IBDP course is available for examinations in English, French and Spanish. Which language are/were you doing IBDP course in? Is/was your school only offering that language type of course? Any interest in doing the IBDP in another language? I am doing IBDP in English. I think all IB schools in Indonesia offer their courses in English it would be great if we had it in Bahasa Indonesia but I guess I'll still prefer the English course because it will help me to improve my English and prepare me to study abroad What about you guys?

I just started my Pre IB year, and i am confused about my subject selections. I was planning to take Physics HL, Chemistry HL and Math AA HL, but my teacher Chem teacher suggested that i should rather do Chemistry and Biology (since i wanted chem to be my major). Thats why now I am only confused about math, like what math should i take? Math AA HL or Math AA SL or Math AI HL or Math AI SL? Also, do you think it is a good idea to take Bio HL and Chem HL (and probably psychology HL if i cant take math HL)?

Hello. I am selling math notes that I have created myself and compiled over the years. I have recently started using a new format that I have used on one topic, namely Complex Numbers. It covers all the things you would need to know about complex numbers in IB and even goes a bit further for those of you that are curious Let me know if you are interested and we can take the discussion further to discord. I can also provide examples.

Im a year 11 student now going into year 12 ib curriculum and i've recently decided that I want to pursue a business related major such as mergers and acquisitions or consulting. The subjects i'm planning to change to are HL english langlit, business, maths AI, and SL spanish B, biology and geography. Originally i was going to pick SL psychology instead of geography but i heard geography is easier to get points and doesn't really matter on college applications. Also i've heard that maths AI gives a better advantage for business majors in uni because it works with statistics more than AA and its easier? Please let me know if my subject choices are good. Thank you so much!

Hello everyone, I finished IB1 and I got 24 points as my year grade overall and my ib coordinator says that I can’t move to IB2 because my points are too low. On the first semester I got 25 points and on the second semester I got 21 points, then we had final exams where I got overall 14 points. I admit that I have been very stressed and anxious and often unwell as a consequence which affected my finals especially. My IB coordinator said that she strongly recommends and is going to kick me out of IB and do American high school. In the summer, I worked really hard and submitted my first draft of Extended Essay, I also took tutors for each subject to catch up and understand…

Hi there, I'm currently about to start the IB diploma program, and I still undecided on my major; thus I've selected my subjects to keep things open. The two main options in my mind are medicine (in my country) or engineering/materials science (in the UK). My logic was as follows: I want Physics HL because its useful for engineering and I enjoy it. Chemistry HL is generally recommended for medicine (but its NOT required in my country) As for math, I want the calculus especially for the engineering, but with 2 sciences at HL, I prefer it to be AA SL. Now, with the year about to start, I'm beginning to doubt my choices. I'm thinking of lowering the Chemis…

Hello, I have to confirm my IB subjects very soon as I will be going to grade 10, right now my subjects are: HL: Business Management, Math AA, Design Technology, SL: Visual art, Chinese B, Language and literature. However, my strong suit is not in math, I would be more confident in doing a humanities subject. I am not sure if I should keep to these subjects because I want to study business management or commerce (but pretty flexible) in the UK but they do not all require math. However, at top unis the requirements are mostly math HL a grade 7/7 for majors like economics or finance. I want to aim for some top universities, despite my major, would it be worth it to cho…

Help my friends, I am currently entering the first year of the IB diploma and have chosen the following as my subjects: Math AA HL Biology HL Chem HL Italian B SL History SL English Lang Lit SL I like all these subjects, and I am not bad at any of them. However, I have heard repeatedly that this is pretty much suicide(Difficulty wise and generally studying wise), so I am wondering if I should change it. I am trying to aim for at least a 38 out of 42 (without extra points). And it is recommended by the uni I want to attend that I have a HL in Math (IA is not available in my school), a HL in science, and a HL in English…

Hi so I am going into pre-IB grade 10 in late August 2018 and I was wondering if someone wanted to study over Skype or Discord (although I would have to text because I usually can't video call) mainly grade 10 pre-IB, and IB year 1 and 2 topics. I would mainly like to study science and mathematics but any other courses are welcome (I am horrible at french btw). I am particularly interested in someone who is at or 1 higher my grade level, and also who is from either Canada or the US (I am from Ontario, Canada) so the course material will be similar. I am not saying these are requirements but I think it would be beneficial. So, if you are interested, let me know! …

Heyooo so I’m selling my gold RV account if anybody is interested It has everything - maths, biology, physics, chemistry… as i bought it a few years ago. I’m a m23 graduate and honestly my general experience with it: It helped me so much with maths AA SL - I got a 7 on the exams. It’s great for practice and also the mock examinations are top notch for all subjects tbh. I also used it for biology HL and chemistry SL practice.

Hey you guys, so i got my results yesterday, and i was absoutely gobsmacked.. because i did revise long and hard for them but they came out really rubbish. i'm not going to post what i got on here, because it was really REALLY bad. i did not get my firm or conditional offer for pharmacy, (through UCAS) as i was 5 points off my entry requirements. do you think the university may still accept me? or do you reckon i get some of my papers remarked? because apparently when you get your papers remarked, they could be brought down aswell as up, but i doubt my papers could get any lower to be honest. what do you think?

Hello everyone. I have just received my IB results, and I was not rewarded the DP diploma due to my lack of points in my HL subjects. I am currently 1 point away from a 4 in Physics, and that's the key for me to pass right now (since I have 11 points for all my HL subjects and the minimum for the HL subjects is 12 points) Do you think it's worth it to request for a remark in this case? Thank you for helping me out! PS: I need this pass since my university will need me to provide the DP certificate.

hi so I have just finished my gcses and im taking IB next year, but I want to look ahead to see the details of what is studied in each subject. I looked on the IB website, but the syllabus outline is very vague. At gcse, every exam board produces specifications with different points outlining EXACTLY what you need to know, but from what I could find, for IB if is much more brief i.e. for languages it only has recommended topics within themes as opposed to a specific vocab list and grammar list. For the sciences it has topics (e.g. kinematics for physics), but not points WITHIN topics (at gcse it would say kinematics as the general heading and then detail what you need to …

Hello there, While writing my math P1 this year, I finished question 7 on the first page of the answer booklet but was a little too concentrated, so I accidentally flipped straight to the last page of the booklet to write question 8. I didn't realize the mistake until I had finished the question so I didn’t want to copy the whole thing to the right page. I wrote a note in a box on the first page indicating where the examiner could find each of the questions since they were out of order; I thought I made it pretty obvious but you never know. I had forgotten about this until now since results come out soon and I started panicking suddenly that the examiner might have …

I come from the German system, which is quite demanding. Last September I decided to do my A Levels instead and have been extremely bored by the little amount of work I have to do. I'm getting As in both mocks and official examinations and need a new challenge in life. Would it be possible to complete the IB Diploma Programme in one year, considering that I wouldn't have to study for my HL subjects if I am already taking them as my A Levels? I would only have to focus on my SL subjects and TOK/EE/CAS. Thanks
