I'm a 12th grader in high school. I've done some research on universities. As I know, I have to take one major and minor. I want to learn economics or languages as my major. For minor, I want to learn something I'm interested in and unrelated to my major Eg. Arts, music. I'm not sure if it's alright for universities. Do my major and minor have to be related? Thanks!

According to my research Germany is a good destination for studying engineering and physics. I am interested in studying physics, therefore I would like to ask people about all the language requirements and application procedure.

Hey guys, so I'm going into my senior year and I've finally started to think about uni. However, there's alot of questions I have so I'm hoping you guys can help me. First of all, how does co-op work? Do you have to apply to program that offers co-op from the start? How exactly does the process of being in a co-op program even work, what do you do? How do you get into one? Also, what is the diffidence in types of degrees for some programs? I have seen a lot of programs with the same name (computer science) but some are bachelors of arts and some are bachelors of science, how exactly do the programs vary? How does a program even work (stupid, I know)? Do you get to c…

Hey y'all I am really just wondering, is it possible that let's say you do worse than you expected in your IB exams so you don't get to your dream course (let's say medicine for example) in a particular uni, and so you take another course sort of connected to medicine for example something involving chemistry or biology. Is it possible to either re-write your IB exams next year so you get better score (while doing the chem or bio course) and so you can transfer courses and even universities, or can you just transfer to medicine without re-writing IB?

Hi all, I tried to look for info and I even asked the university myself but they said that I cannot join their courses because I have Business in my IB subjects list which isn't considered as a human science. What they needed was either History or Economics. Is there anyone who got into Germany University without having 1 or 2 of their requirements relating to the subjects requirement in Germany? E.g. Maths study? If so I need some help and assistance. Plus I dont want to waste 1 year learning pre-uni in Germany! what to do?

Hola, recently I found this hotel school in Switzerland that seems quite nice in my opinion, SHMS. http://www.shms.com/en/ Is anyone here attending this school? In that case, what is your opinion? (If this is not allowed/suitable for IBsurvival, I am sorry)

Hi, I am now finishing my 10th grade(pre-ib grade) in my school and I am going to take IB from the next year, so my question is:"Do universities look only for ib grades or they look for pre-ib grades aswell?".

Hey guys, i'm in my second year of IB, graduating in Nov '15 and I still have no clue as to what degree I should be looking at. All my subjects interest me to a certain extent, although I tend to do better in some more than others. I'm not looking for a definite answer, but perhaps a few suggestions to degrees that I might be inclined to, based on my subject choices and my results as of now. 7 for HL Chem 7 for HL Bio High 6/Low 7 for HL Econs 7 for SL Math 7 for SL Mandarin Low 6 SL English Literature My interests are probably greater towards the sciences and math, but I do enjoy english and economics as well. So far i've only really extensively explored medicine, but…

Hi, I want to study law in the US, which is post-grad, and then I decided to go for a bachelors in economics before that, for example in England. The problem arose some days ago when life was fine and the sun was shining. All Economics or management faculties I have looked at require a 7 in Maths HL (LSE, Oxford, Cambridge, Warwick). I have done pretty okay in Maths SL this year, think I will get a 7 in the calculus test we had some days ago. Until christmas, maths HL & SL had the same teacher, at the same time, in the same room, studying the same things. What I have missed, is basically just one module of Statistics. Is it worth to stress over the summer and …

Hello, I'm currently in Gr.11 I'm aiming to enter into HKU (University of HongKong), but one thing I worry is that I take Math Studies. To jump right into the question, is it 'acceptable' to apply for Business or Economics in HKU? My predicted score for Math Studies is 7.

So I've just got back my first set of official predicted grades: Chem HL: 6 Bio HL: 7 French B HL: 6 Math SL: 5 Business and Management SL: 6 English A SL: 6 I've been really struggling with maths ever since the beginning of the year, and I had been getting 4-5 in all my tests but my teacher predicted me a 5. This was all with the help of a math tutor, but I had to stop with the tutoring because it was getting too expensive, and my most recent math test result was a 3. I do know for sure that if i go to studies I'll get a 6 or 7, but I don't know if i can get above a 5 in math sl. If I drop to studies then my overall grade will be at around 37-38 without core points…

I mean, I am planning to study in Germany as a foreign student. Computer science and maths will be my major, for my minor, I fond of psychology and philosophy, However, I am not sure it would be wise to study a heavily language-based subject when I am not that confident with my german language ability. SO in terms of language requirement , which one is harder? thanks

This is not an important question, nor even relevant yet, as my university entries are over two years away, and most likely I can't afford MIT anyway nor get in, but I'm just curious, are there any restrictions on how many times one can apply to MIT? Or universities on USA in general?

Hi, what is the minimum grade do you need to graduate IB with to accept at least 30% scholarship in university? I'm considering in studying either in European or Oceanian universities, although American ones are also in my options. I figured that since I'm going down the research/engineering path I would need at least a 37, and I just want to make sure. Thanks!

Hi, I was just wondering how many IB points do I really need for the listed universities? UBC McGill Kent I am in grade 11 semester 2 and currently getting around 30 IB points. However I do take hard subjects like Physics HL and Chem Hl. I think I will be able to get around 34 points by the end of this semester.

Okay guys, I'm currently in 10th grade and planning on taking German B SL in IB, Do you think I can manage to do well in a German university that offers English courses? The problem is that I live in Poland with my family, and my family prefers me to go to some university in Europe as opposed to the US. I'm not sure about the quality and the viability of the universities that allow these courses for English speakers, and also what are their IB requirements? Is it worth it spending so much time trying to understand everything in Germany or just go straight to a UK or US university where things will be more expensive because they're out of the Eurozone, and is further away…

Hi all, I'm looking for someone with expertise in regards to U.K universities who can help in regards to this topic. I'm currently an international student studying in Nottingham, about to finish the first year, undergoing a degree which is the length of three years and would really like for a variety of reasons to be able to take the modules of the final year over the course of the coming year, thus enabling me to finish my degree by the end of next year.. I understand some modules require perquisites, which is why I would sit the 100% exam modules during the summer ('retake) window and take the rest during the next year. Is that possible? Thanks!

Okay, so I decided to ask what you guys think of the situation I am in. I spent last year in Taiwan as an exchange student. It was awesome, my Chinese improved a lot and I was planning to study in China~ And here my problem starts. I am absolutely sure I want to study medicine. However, China expects prospective students to pass exams from biology, chemistry and physics. Well, I didn't know this from the very beginning, I've found it out recently but it's already December so it's too late to change anything about my class choices. Also, in most countries biology and chemistry are enough, in some of them (like the UK) you can even have chemistry only and it's still fine…

I'm applying to the Gates Millennium Scholarship, and I'm still going over my essays. The prompt for Essay 2 is as follows: "Discuss the subjects in which you had difficulty. What factors do you believe contributed to your difficulties? How have you dealt with them so they will not cause problems for you again? In what areas have you experienced the greatest improvement? What problem areas remain?" In my essay, I've only brought up mathematics, but the prompt as for subjects, plural. Should I bring up another course I've had trouble in?

Hi, I wonder if switching from Maths SL to studies will decrease my chances of getting into let´s say Harvard or Oxford to study law? The only subjects I have involving any kinds of maths is Economics HL and Physics SL. I feel like Maths SL is a bit hard but not at all impossible and maths studies would be an easy 7 and give me more time to focus on my other subjects. Thanks

What do you think would be a useful course to take with compsci? I am interested in economics, finance, business, math, and physics. If you are interested in my IB courses, for HL I have Math, compsci and econ and for SL I have mandarin, English, and physics. Thanks a lot in advance! Any suggestions would help a ton!

So I have just started my adventure in the IB programme (currently in pre-IB due to education demands in Poland) and I have no idea what university course is best suited for what i would like to do later in life. My passion are cars and I want to go into car design/design overall. My highers are going to be English, Physics and Economy. Right now is the last moment I can change my subjects of choice (atleast in my school). Does anyone know of a good university/college that has such a course? If anything requires clarification, please notify me. Thanks!

Hi guys, I just came back from Cape Town where I was volunteering for a little bit over a month. I fell in love with the city and South Africa in general. Does anybody know the process for applying to a South African university through the IB? Has anybody had any experience with SA unis or studies at one right now? I'm interested if not solely, mostly on UCT University of Cape Town and any feedback is more than welcome! Thanks!

Hey Guys I have recently started my IB diploma Since the last two months I have been looking at some of my possible choices for university. As mentioned above I would like to study either Economics, Management or Accounting & Finance. I am obviously aware that those courses are not really related that closely however I am not able to specify my choice exactly at this point. Now to my question ! I have of course done research myself but I cant really interpret all of the business school rank…
