I want to learn economics or languages as my major. For minor, I want to learn something I'm interested in and unrelated to my major Eg. Arts, music.I'm not sure if it's alright for universities. Emmi Posted June 29, 2015 Report Share Posted June 29, 2015 While a major is (obviously) required, you actually aren't required to have a minor in most cases, at least in the US. They don't have to be related, but oftentimes complementary minors can make you more valuable to employers and graduate/professional schools. I myself am doing a chemical engineering major with a math minor, but I used to be doing a Spanish language minor.
