I was talking to some of my friends and I told them that my EE was of probability. To be more precise it is of probability on a casino game named craps. My idea was to make an analysis on how the casino always has more chances of winning than the player. My concern is that they told me that this topic is not going to get me a good grade. I am writing an IA on the math behind RSA encryption, but I am struggling to find topics in the SL curriculum that I can apply to RSA encryption. I was considering using perms and combs/stats and prob but I can't find that much info on either. Any help or pointers would be much appreciated.

Hey guys, I was woking on my maths internal assesment when I decided to look up soome examples online about my topic (golden ratio on my local city) and I found out that the topis is "overused" and that I could get a bad grade because the topic lacks from creativity. This golden ratio in architecture topic really interested me and even more considering that theres no information about it being used on my city online (Im from Montevideo, Uruguay) so I would be the one that makes the whole progress and maybe, that could compensate tge creativity issue. Hi, For my math IA, I chose to do traffic flow. So far, I narrowed down my potential questions to: a) How do trucks contribute to traffic jams and b) What causes traffic jams. Hello, I've been having a lot of trouble settling on a question. My advisor is not replying to my email so I can't get anything approved. My idea is the application of calculus in numbers of different bases (normally we go by base 10 so I can investigate the applicability of calculus in base 9, base 8, etc. ) Does this question look alright? Some other ideas: Does finding the number of prime numbers in any range using the Euclidean algorithm work? I've done research on some universities in the UK to study Veterinary Medicine but none of the ones that I've come across specify if I should take AI or AA, the only requirment being Maths SL and/or the grade (e.g 5 out of 7). Some don't focus on the overal points out of 45 but more on the individual grades of subjects. I've spoken to a few teachers, they said AA would be a better option as it'll give me more opportunities for universities but after receiving my prior knowledge test we did during induction for DP, I did not get a high enough mark and so my maths teacher doesnt recommend A

Hey, I am planning on doing my Extended Essay in Math. After doing some revision on my previous choice of topic I came up with a new topic: The geometry of GPS navigation My research question would be: What is the role of mathematics and geometry in particular in GPS navigation? Would that research question be specific enough? Or do you have any ideas for improvement or refining it? Hi guys I have a math Ia due by the end of this week, and I basically am not close to finishing. Im using probability and statistics to find the outcome of a football (Soccer) tournament. I need to find ways on how to do this. So far I used the poisson distribution to predict outcome of matches, but does anyone know how I can use the graphs in my IA (like how should I analyse it). I have my first rough draft of my math IA due in one month, and I am having trouble understanding if my topic is too simple, difficult, or vague for a Math IA, I would appreciate some advice. NOTE; I DO NOT TAKE PHYSICS, NOR WILL I BE TAKING IT. I’m a year ahead in math at my school and am taking SL A&A as a Junior. I am testing this year. My teacher told me that my next class would be HL A&A and I would take the class but not test. However, that class is notoriously difficult at my school and I’d rather not take it. I’d much rather take the easier non-IB statistics class. So, is 4 years of an IB math class required if I’ve already tested out? Or could I take a non-IB Stats class and still get the diploma?

My school only offers AA, and as someone who doesn't like math, I'm scared. Hopefully I can handle AA SL Math is my weakest subject, and I plan on studying International Law or something along those lines in university. Does anyone have advice, is AA SL really that hard? I know you can't use a calculator on the first paper so hopefully, you don't need strong mental maths skills in that section. I know you can take courses online but I think that will be even harder for math, plus I'm already going to take French & English Lit online. Anyone who has done AA SL please let me know abou

Hey guys! I've been doing my Extended Essay about the Traveling Salesman Problem, but now I realize I'm not sure about my Research Question, and by the way, not even the subject (Math or Computer Science). I wonder if you could give me some feedback on it. My actual research question is: Proving the Traveling Salesman Problem is an NP-Complete problem. I'm thinking about maybe changing it to see how a specific algorithm (the simplex one, by Dantzig) actually helped to solve large instances of the TSP. Help, please, I'm lost. Thank you in advance! -
I am am work on my mathematics extended essay, and I want to do it on: 1. Coming up with a general formula for the volume of the five Platonic Solids (I need to know from other mathematics higher level students if this is two simple). 2. The proof(s) for Euler's polyhedron formula. 3. The Travelling Salesman Problem (not sure how much math is involved as opposed to computer science). I am most interested in the first but willing to drop it if it is too simple. I am also open to suggestions of other interesting topics in geometry (the subject I have the most interest in).

Well I'm new here and i was wondering if anyone could help me out. I am having my IB entrance exam on Monday and i was told that it would be on math and english; which would both be one hour. so my question is " how does club head speed affect the distance of a golf ball" im just worried that this is too simple, im doing it on correlation as i find that the easiest (if you have any other topic suggestions please tell me) however i was thinking about changing it to "how does club head speed affect spin and distance of a golf ball" is this better and if so how do i do a correlation with three variables. Hello! Recently, I have come up with calculating the volume and surface area of wine glasses for my Math IA (I am in Maths SL). I am just wondering whether if this idea is suitable for Maths SL and whether if it shows personal engagement. Since this idea would involved relatively more heavy calculus as I am at SL level, would it show personal engagement because I am attempting to learn something more challenging and outside the scope of the syllabus? In my opinion, it is not exactly unique or crazy creative compared to the sample IA's I see, for example graphing cosmetic contact lens patterns.
