Hey guys! I was doing some revision today and realised I have pretty much done all the past papers for all my subjects from 2005 onwards. Since the spec changed in 2009, I was wondering if any of you knew where I can get papers from 2011 and their mark schemes too (obviously)? My teacher has already given me 2010 ones but I would really like to have the full set before my exams. Any help will be greatly appreciated! Have an awesome day, even though you are most probably suffering from a serious case of IB-itis. Rachel

I'm planning on booking a holiday as an incentive to work productively throughout the IB. I've been saving and would like to go to Majorca, Ibiza, Mallaga or Zante once exams are over. Though my parents trust me, they seem to think these places encourage nothing but violence and debauchery. I just wanted to get other people's opinions on this, have any of you been? Are these places overrated? Any alternatives?

Today was my last paper, bio paper 3 and even though I started miserably (stupid math paper) I ended with a bang How many other people out there are done? I'm happy but sad at the same time because even though IB has pushed me to my limits, both mentally as well as physically, I've also had good times like the bonding with my class mates, the late nights with friends, the complaining and procrastinating and realizing you aren't the only one out there screwed for an essay/test and so much more! What will you miss the most?

My cohort consists of ten individuals -including myself -and we all have contrasting personalities. The year above us were rather close and as a result we are pushed to build bonds and find a team spirit by our teachers. How important are strong relationships within cohorts and to what extent in your opinion, does the 'numerous heads are better than one' phrase play a part in achieving good grades in the IB?

Someone has any idea of which was Kim Jong Un's (Kim Jong Il's son) Extended Essay topic? I have been searching it on the Internet, but I only found a guy who said: "How to con the USA into giving North Korea food aid so that he could keep building the country's military and nuclear capabilities. ^^ just joking; but it sure seems like it." I agree with him, seems possible! haha any other idea?

I'm knew and don't know how populated this forum was a year ago but for the most members online it says 253 but all I've seen these past days are 30-40 members online. What happened? Maybe it's time to start advertising heavily? It seems like not much is going on.

First of all, hello (i'm new here, so i'm kinda obliged to be typical). This is mainly for the 2013 candidates. As my brother is finishing his IB exams, i realized that... this is it, we're next! Don't know about the rest of you guys, but i feel a bit anxious (maybe because i have 3 internals coming up, but the realization made it worse). Anybody else feel the same way?

I live in London and would normally use the word "cheers" to mean thanks if I was talking to friends or someone in a shop who'd served me. However I've recently moved to a sixth form in Kent and people almost never say "cheers" and find it weird that I use it as much as I do. I was just wondering where in England one would say cheers to mean thanks regularly in general conversation. Is it a London thing or would you say it normally in other parts of the UK?

I just want to give thanks to everyone who is a part of this website, both the community and staff. My IB class this year isnt so lucky because we have new teachers (first year teaching IB) and you lot have helped a lot! Anyways, that's all... I wanted to make it brief. Cheers, aceface

Amazon Kindle worth it?

Hi, I've been thinking about investing in an Amazon Kindle for a while now but I'm at war with myself! Reasons I want it: -to save space (this is a big one, I barely have any space left in my room to keep books and especially with uni round the corner, I don't want to be overcrowded with books) -it saves me from having to go to a book store every time I finish a book (or wait for the new one to be delivered) -it looks quite cool Things holding me back: -although the actual kindle isn't too expensive, the covers seem to be in excess of £30 (and yes, I definitely need a cover). In addition, I've read that you need to pay to have adverts removed from your kindle also…

Here's a logic question... I hate it. You are the ruler of a medieval empire and you are about to have a celebration tomorrow. The celebration is the most important party you have ever hosted. You've got 1000 bottles of wine you were planning to open for the celebration, but you find out that one of them is poisoned. The poison exhibits no symptoms until death. Death occurs within ten to twenty hours after consuming even the minutest amount of poison. You have over a thousand slaves at your disposal and just under 24 hours to determine which single bottle is poisoned. You have a handful of prisoners about to be executed, and it would mar your celebration to have anyon…

I've got a question about visual arts in the IB - is it necessary to take this subject on HL to apply for architecture? I'm going to begin the ibdp next year, but in my school there is one year of preparation and we need to choose some subjects now. I don't find arts at school challenging and I don't think I will learn very much attending the IB v.a. , especially when I have found an very good drawing course that provides excellent portfolio if you are not afraid to work hard. Please help

With Apple now revolutionizing the education industry with their new digital textbooks and study apps, I think we all could be in for a change. After all, Apple almost never fails with their ideas, so I think this could be an idea that reaches us all. I personally think the textbooks look really neat, and are a new way of learning, far more interactive and entertaining. My only doubt is whether they'll actually have IB textbooks for the iPad, that could take some time. I also think they'd save people a lot more money, seeing as they are just 15 bucks. What do you all think?

I know I'm still IB1 and you may say that I have no saying in that, that I'll see next year - but I just ADORE WRITING PORTFOLIOS for my math class. It just relaxes me and I really enjoy thinking 'outside the box' and ofc. finally using some of my knowledge gained in class. Am I the only one?

Hello helpful IBS members! I'm currently experiencing a bit of an interest dilemma. When I first entered the pre-IB program, I'm was attending a math, science, and technology magnet school and I was intent on becoming a paleontologist. By 8th grade I had also come to the realization that I also would like to be a video game designer, and as a matter of fact, I have begun writing a script for a game I have created the concepts for (I know what you're gonna say, please just save your opinions...). Now I'm now a freshman attending the only IB high school in my county and I've just now come to the realization that I would also like to be involved in the fine arts: singing, …

How do you handle those lazy kids who don't take IB seriously, but try to take advantage of the nice, helpful people (people like me!)? I got very angry earlier this month because I realized that far too many of my friends are failing, have failed, or are slipping in their classes yet constantly asked me for help and expected me to do so. I got so angry that I wrote a page and a half speech and refused to speak at school the next day. I attached the speech for any who may be interested in reading it (but I haven't edited it or backed it up really, it was more of just an impromptu speech that I wrote down). Do you think that I'm right for doing what I did? IB Motivatio…

So I was wondering if anyone else had been sick during the IB and how it affected them. I know that I annoyed my Japanese teacher to no end because somehow (not on purpose, I would have missed maths...) all my appointments ended up in her class or tutorial time. I did miss some extensive tutorials and BSSS (state) exams due to quarantine at the end of last year but most of my grades were approximated and I worked to catch up what I missed. But, I think I got off pretty lightly, so I fired I'd ask other stories.

I found this video on YouTube: I am the kind of person that complains about IB, but at the same time defends it when someone ( a non-IB person) criticizes the program. At this point of my life I am not sure how I feel about this video... But I am sure of one thing: "I am excited about my EE" <--- Really? come on!! :/ And the background music pfffffff What are your opinions?

Soooo, just wanted to know, Has anyone ever thought they lost their USB drive and freaked out. I just wanted to know because a few weeks ago, I was in the library at school and the bell rang. I printed out the things I had to print out before I went to class. I ejected my USB and stuck it in my bookbag (appartently I forgot I did this.....) because when I went to the computer to pick up the things I had and went back to the computer to get my things, I checked my bookbag in the pocket I usually put my USB in and...IT WASNT THERE!!! I was about to like scream and I nearly freaked out! All my work is on that thing! I was about to be late to class so I started looking ever…

It's an old old old question, and there are so many definitions for it. But why is there then only one word to describe it? (in English there are more, and there are more in other languages). Go listen to some Chinese songs (Especially Hong Kong with its many sad songs. And yes, china is not the only country who produces love songs.), they are so cluttered with metaphors and definitions, or just go read some love poems. Maybe the real question is if we all want our "own" love to be special and different from others, or if we just view it that way and try to make it look as if it's different from others love. If it's so, then why is it so important to have a "special" love…

I don't know if you've all heard of this, but I saw this one mention of turning ideas on its head in an article somewhere. The example: In some countries, murderers are executed. This does follow the Code of Hammurabi. So let's apply this to other criminals...arsonists, thieves and rapists for example. Now this caught my attention. And ensuing questions. What would society be like if we employed this idea? How different would the justice system be. Talk, debate, troll, whatever. This is open to everyone.

"When you start compromising yourself or your morals for the people around you, it's probably time to change the people around you." Do you think you should not change anything about your personality for the people around you? It sounded true to me, but then I thought..what's wrong with compromising yourself a little bit for the people around you? Perhaps your personality doesn't allow you to fit in any group in which case you have to compromise, especially if your personality has a lot of faults, which applies to morals too. This goes for relationships and jobs as well. People say very different things about compromising and they all sound more or less right, Here are …

The school I'm studying in has very few students in my batch and not all teachers are equally good. I have the opportunity to move to a much better school where there are about 90 students with much better faculty. Although moving might seem the best option, I really am settled here. Everything seems to be going well. My grades are alright.( But again, I don't really trust my grades because of the faculty here ). I seem to be doing fine here. I'm understanding the syllabus and IBSurvival is definitely making my life a lot easier. However, although I do believe that good teachers and competition would, in most cases, lead to a better overall IB Grade, solving past papers a…

I'm wondering how worried I should be about the mock IB exams. I'm a junior, (11th grade) and most of my teachers will be taking them as a test grade. Okay so today our biology teacher snapped (an expression meaning he got angry and started acting strict and somewhat irrational) because somme students complained to the head office that his teaching methods were hindering our overall learning. For example: he would often take 30 min to start the class, wasting time; usually stop in the middle of a class to comment on something random and we would get off topic, or randomly stop teaching all together if people were talking etc. Nothing too too bad but if you add up all that time wasted, it does accumulate to couple of hours... So he got mad that some students reported him and instead of taking it as constructive criticis…

Hey, so I had a question about the exam rules.I just read the rules and there is nothing specific stated about writing on your "extra notepaper" before the examination starts. I am not talking about passing notes to other students but rather about temporary memory. Are we allowed to write as soon as we sit down to write the exams(before the reading time etc)?

Hey all, I have a slight problem, I've been invited to my boyfriend's (i have no idea how I'm able to have a boyfriend doing the IB) cousins christening. I was baptised 4 years ago, but that's not the same thing as being invited to one, and I have absolutely no idea what is appropriate to wear. I've been told to wear something that is appropriate for church, but in my church-going days I usually wore jeans and a tshirt. I want to dress to impress but also be formal. I also have no time or money to go shopping, the christening is 26/27th may, one week after my final exams. Help?!?!?!?!

What do you think of cheating? How often do you use it? What do you think should be done about it? Go into depth, as if this were an EE! Lol. For me, from a student's perspective, I feel like I wouldn't get through without cheating a little. Like copying another student's homework/notes. I'm just being honest. I try to do my own work but sometimes I just slip through. Do you cheat? I don't think that at the high school level, cheating should be a huge issue. It's a lot of trouble to make sure students don't cheat. Now, obviously, if a student is copying in front of a teacher work for that class, or cheating on a test, the teacher should confiscate. But I don't think a pu…

This is in part because it's free, and in part because its addictive and can go on forever basically. If you're into gaming but haven't tried it I suggest you do. It's really fun. ^_____^ URL: http://na.leagueoflegends.com/ Also I play for fun so if you're not really good it doesn't matter as long as you're not rude or mean.
