  1. I too am an arsenal girl. Although, my true love is Zlatan Ibrahimovic. He's just amazing, especially his 4th goal in the Sweden vs England friendly on Wednesday! 35ft from goal, bicycle kick, and he scores from an impossible angle! amazing!
  2. I agree with AWB. The IB should stay out of uni, otherwise I would be taking an informal logic exam in 3 years rather than in January. Although, (I'm not completely sober right now so don't judge me if this is a terrible thing to say) there are things that I did within the IB that I would like my uni course to incorporate. I'm a combined honours student, so I study 2 subjects, but I have said many times that I miss studying biology, and there are no biology electives either, it would be nice to be able to do some more biology. But Japanese this year is really stretching me too and if I hadn't
  3. Thank you! You've given me loads to think about! Conceptual analysis is essentially what Socrates did in the early platonic dialogues, when he broke things down to the "what is x?" Questions, eg "what is courage?" In Laches, or "what is piety?" In Euthyphro... Break the concept down into smaller ideas and so on :-) Thank you very much! It's much appreciated :-)
  4. Hey, I graduated from the IB in May 2012, I passed and got to my uni. Now, our Module tutor in philosophy has given us an amazing assignment for our first assessment: write a conceptual analysis of 1,000 words on one of the following concepts: love, friendship, happiness, forgiveness, goodness and trust. I'm trying to analyse the concept of forgiveness and I'm a little (a bloody lot) stuck. We're not allowed to use books either, but I have no idea where to start... So guys, please help me?
  5. I might be a bit too late now, but I'll give you my incredibly childish idea anyway. If you remember the Moomins by Tove Jansson from childhood, you could go to Nådendal, and visit the Moomin valley. My parents and I did that when I was 8. We took the ferry over from stockholm and stayed at a spa hotel and took the road-train (like those mini trains that go along the seafront in the uk) to the Moomin valley. I don't know if you can call it a theme park... it's nothing like grönalund though, which you must go to if you're going to Stockholm. I can't remember how steep the entry is... Sorry for
  6. I like the second one because you get to apply ideas and stuff.. However, the first one may be easier to research because you can go into psychological reasons for behaviours, as well as other things that affect the behavious of a character and so on. So maybe go with the first one?
  7. I wasn't attempting to be condescending or elitist, so I apologise if I came across that way. I was simply attempting (probably failing somewhat) to find out other people's opinions etc, because all of my friends who study A Levels have had to their first year, obviously for varying reasons, but the most common one being bad grades. And I also wanted to create a debate, and seeing as I was probably not in the most objective frame of mind when posting its perhaps not surprising that most posts are against me. I just wanted to hear opinions really... Sorry for any offence :-/
  8. Right, I don't know what it is with non-IB students, but to me, they seem quite lazy. Don't get me wrong, I know there are those who work really hard and generally do care, but then again there are some (like my good-for-nothing boyfriend) who seems to not give a damn because he can always "retake later". This really annoys me because he has 13 days until his final exam, and I called him 30 minutes ago, and he was still not up. If I had 13 days to go before an exam, I would be freaking out and studying really hard, but he doesn't seem to care. Ok sure, I can understand that because yesterday
  9. Like the above poster says. But I guess it depends on which one you wanna go most to. Although, to me it makes no sense to keep it like that, because if you fail to get the requirements for Nottingham, then chances are Durrham won't take you either, yet if you get the requirements for Durrham, Nottingham will definitely take you...
  10. I'm gonna propose some which are completely non-IB related: Most likely to be a WAG Best/worst hair Best/worst fashion sense
  11. Sorry, went away for a while to focus down on this week (had both my HLs) Hope biology went amazing for you. 2 exams to freedom for me! ah good luck with your next two!! I hope you do really well! yeah biology did go really well! How many hours has it been? more than 24 for definite there was a lot on Human Health and Physiology and i was so glad we didnt have to draw anything! could answer each question confidently, well, except for paper 3 - Further Human Physiology - last question, which i just outlined, didnt explain and then asked my boyfriend's father about, so i might have gotten a c
  12. all were pretty good i think. Paper 1, everyone finished in 20 mins, and it was pretty simple, not too challenging i think. paper 2 and 3 were also pretty simple, data questions werent too hard, opitons D and H (evolution and Further human physiology) were everything I'd revised, but lost a few marks on the last question in H because i didnt remember where the il... whatever its called was.. overall, very happy
  13. Well then it's a good tip, no? Well, can't be worse than being shouted at by your Maths teacher every time she finds out you complained right? Also, at least your Maths teacher knows some Maths, my Maths teacher just explained everything correctly for 15 mins, then explained everything wrong for another 15 mins so after 30 mins of the lesson we didn't understand anything so I was sat trying to work out, from the awful book, what the hell to do at the same time trying to explain it to a whining, and complaining girl who wouldn't listen to me and then accused me of yelling at her when she didn't

  15. I think that should be fine, I mean it was an honest mistake right? I doubt anything will happen :-)
