I am thinking of doing my IA on the optimum volleyball net height based on average player height? My teacher has given no guidance, so I'm not sure if this is even somewhat doable. Does anyone have any thoughts or advice? Thanks!

Hey y'all, I need help with my IA for chemistry. I want to look through a couple of options related to stoichiometry or anything actually. Also, does this look like a good question: Does cooking temperature affect the concentration of ethanoic acid in vinegar, measured by acid-base titration? Thanks, R_M✌️

I want to study astrophysics at university and my IB option choice deadline is in a few days. I am debating between taking SL Chemistry or Theater Arts. Currently I am planning on taking: HL Physics, Maths, English Lit SL Economics, Spanish B, Chem/Theater The problem is that I love both chemistry and theater equally and consider myself to be pretty decent at both. I am not willing to drop any of the two because I thoroughly enjoy both so now I don't know what to do as I don't require either of them for studying physics or even astrophysics at university level. (I am taking HL English because I might consider studying Law btw) Can anyone help me…

I am currently in IBCP at my school but thoroughly do not enjoy it. I LOVE learning and regret more than anything taking CP instead of DP. I have been very upset about my decision lately and want to change. We are halfway through the second quarter of the first year but I want nothing more than to join the diploma program. It is regarded more highly by colleges than CP I believe and I want the challenge of the DP and am confident that I can handle it. Have you ever been in this situation of know of anyone that has? Is it possible to make the switch? Please help me out. Thanks so much.

HL's: ECON, HISTORY, SPANISH SL's:ENGLISH,MATH AA, CHEMISTRY Chose Econ and History because its interesting and I think I could do well in them. I chose Spanish because its easy and I wanna get some free points. I chose the SL's because they are not that hard and would keep me interested. The only thing I wouldn't change is ECON HL and ENGLISH SL. Is this a good choice that could maximize my points.

Hi, I'm in the middle of a mental breakdown. I'm about 6 months into my first year of ib and my classes are: English Lang Lit HL Geography HL Biology HL Art SL Math Applications SL French B SL What courses can I take in college?? I should've sat down and thought more about what I wanted to do with my life before school started :( Now I'm thinking about becoming a nurse but I'm not taking chem HL, is it too late to switch my art? Should I take math app HL instead of SL because it's the closest to math studies and I'm afraid of how colleges will perceive the subject. I'm also into marketing and careers related to crime .. not being a crimi…

Hello IB students. I have got emergency situation regarding revising of up coming Mock exam. I think some of us know the really useful resource of all past papers, which is called IB Documents Team. https://www.ibdocuments.com/ It is kind of clouds that everyone can access with either no pass words and ID, and there are around 10 years of past papers on all subject. However, it is taken down under DMCA organisation and IB Documents Team trying best of complying. Fortunately, they left some of other link of resources. Then the problem is we actually cannot access to the mirror of IB Doc. Once we click the link which says Examsnap, you can go to t…

Hey guys! I just started IB1 and i’m having my mock exams soon. I’m finding IB hard (Because im not naturally intelligent) and I keep doubting myself. So many people in my school are redoing IB1 and I’m scared to see myself in that situation. The subjects i’m taking are quite difficult. HL Chem & SL maths AA especially my question is, suppose I dont get the requirements needed to be promoted to IB2, Will I be forced to redo IB1 or will i have the opportunity to resit some exams and do extra work during the summer?

It's no secret that the IB comes up with different variants of the papers so that everyone gets a fair shot at a good grade. (Edit: sorry! Head's gone all fuzzy!) But what I find bewildering is the whole thing about the IB in May is said to be easier than the November session. It's something that's been floating around my school for awhile, but I never had the chance to find out for myself. Now I'm not one to believe these kind of stuff, after all, the grade boundaries would shift accordingly, but this is something I experienced when I did the IGCSEs too. The May session is significantly easier than the November ones and it's ridiculous how obvious it is - the same questio…

I'm starting the IB Dp program next year and I'm still quite unsure about my future plans, however I'm definitely inclined towards the STEM subjects. I want to keep my options open and still have time to decide about whether I want to do engineering, medicine or something in between (like chemistry). Which science subjects do you think I should choose? I have a good mind for maths and I love biology. Physics is a little tough but I still really like it and I'm not a fan of chemistry, but I know that it's the best subject to choose as it's useful for both medicine and engineering. Would it be possible for me to do 3 sciences? (I've heard that the IB can make exceptions and…

I'm in grade 7 just trying to prepare to try the IB program for Port Moody Secondary, I am wondering if you had to take all five "groups" of exams. I looked for practice papers on the ibo.org and they had five groups. Group 1:Language A1, Group 2:Second language, Group 3: Individuals and societies, Group 4: Experimental sciences and Group 5: Mathematics and computer science. Thank you!

Hi, Me and my wife are looking forward to enroll our son into IB PYP. He is currently 2 yrs old only. So we have some time on hand. However, we do have a few questions and we will be grateful to get some guidance. 1. Our nature of jobs require us to travel constantly. Sometimes, every year to a new country. How does this impact our child's IB education? Could he straight away start where he left from in the new country? 2. How are the exams structured? Are they every year or every 2nd year? 3. If we are travelling to a new country for a few months only, could we enroll our child to the IB PYP in that new country for a few months? How does that work…

I can't decide which of the two to take. I am fluent in English so the difficulty of the subjects is not really at question. I prefer the topics of English A, the teacher, and the class size which is smaller and thus enables more discussion. But, I don't really like literature that much and dread the concept of reading (not an avid reader at all). I think English B would be a breeze, I wouldn't have to work nearly as much for a 7, and I would have more time to devote to my ECs and college requirements. What do you think I should do? What I want to study: Economics and Management/PPE at Oxford

I'm taking the German B SL test this year(it's my first year of IB), but my school doesn't offer HL. I have found examples of people having self-studied a language-b, but in most cases people say it's not allowed. I'm meeting my coordinator about this soon. Does anyone know anything further about the possibility of self-studying a language B/Have done it?

I was awarded IB diploma for May 2019 session. The problem is I am not happy with my university course (Russian language). I would like to study veterinary but I am not sure if it is possible to do so. I need Biology HL and Chemistry HL for this. I studied only Biology SL and no Chemistry at all. Could I somehow get enrolled for exams for these subjects? Do I need to attend these classes at school beforhand? Or could I take Pajama online course? Thank you for help.

Hi everyone, So i am in my final year of high school doing IB and starting to apply to uni. I want to study Criminology and social policy at birmingham which needed 32 points and 655 HL, I think i’ll be predicted 34, with 655 at HL. However in Chemistry which is one of my standard subjects, i think i will be predicted a 3, which is a fail and i’m worried this will look back to the uni. Will it look bad to the uni and effect my chance of acceptance??? Thanks!!

I'm not sure whether I should take it or not. My subjects are: HL English LangLit HL Global Politics HL Economics SL Biology SL Maths AI SL Spanish ab initio I would be taking HL Economics online. This is so that I could take both Global Politics and Economics together, which I could not do without the online course. I’m an ibcp student and taking US history honors and I have been trying to switch into IB history of the americas for 3 weeks now but my school isn’t letting me because of the seat time requirement. Especially because now I would be 8 weeks behind, but that seems like a very minimal value out of 2 whole years right? Is seat time mandated by IB or is there something i can do to still switch in and make that time up? If you’ve switched into an IB class late, how late and how did you make up the seat time? I want this class so badly. If you have any advice please help before it is truly too late because so much time has already passed. Thank you.

My son is finishing the HL IB math this year (at the end of his 10th grade), but the IB program is saying that he can't be allowed to take the HL exams until the end of 12th grade. Moreover, they would ask him to take the math HL classes again. Has anyone heard of people taking IB exams early? Thank you!

Hello all, I’m reaching out because of a situation with my teacher ... Here’s some background: I am in my last year of high school, and last year, I took the French B SL exams in May 2019 as an Anticipated candidate. I thought I did well on the exams... In fact, I was 3 marks away from a 7. I got the individual marks for each assessment today (from my IB Coordinator), I got what I expected on the exams, but the written assignment (externally marked) a surprise... I noticed that my Written Assignment had a significantly lower mark (about 20 percent lower) than the papers, even though I greatly considered the expectations the teacher gave and pu…

hello everyone. I am trying to choose which subjects to have in a HL. I know that I have to take HL physics, that one is sorted and decided. but i am wondering if I should have math HL. the career counselor of my school tells me that I am capable of doing it, but my credits would decrease as it is a really tough subject and that is the important stuff. but I also know that I might need to have the knowledge for what is thought in math HL. i really do not know whether is better to have a 6-7's on math SL or to take it HL and to have 4-5's but I would know more content. help please. i need togive them in 3 days. if it's helpful, these are the subjects I've chosen …

Hello everyone, I have to choose my IB subjects. My current subjects are: Math AA HL Physics HL Chemistry SL English A LAL, SL or HL Turkish Literature SL (I am from Turkey) Economy or Itgs HL So, I couldn't decide on which group 3 subject I will choose. (I am going to take HL from group 3 subject.) I intended to take Itgs at first, because it is easier than economics (less studying, more points) and I am either gonna study engineering or mathematics/computer science, therefore it fits. But I learnt that Itgs is considered a weak subject and universities don't even recognize it. So, I switched to economics which is also an…

Hi. I am just now entering my second year of IB. I am taking chemistry SL & psychology HL (online) and would like to change from both. Throughout last year I unfortunately didn’t take psychology that serious and am finding difficulty in it (my expected grade is probably going to be very low). And for chemistry, its hard and it’s going to require more effort than necessary. So I wanted to change from chemistry to arts (since my school finally has arts this year) and from psychology online to film online. Since I have a strong background in both, is it possible to do them both in the second year?

I'm needing to choose my HL subjects soon and I'm doing 3 sciences (Maths, Physics, Chem). I've already decided not to do Chem HL as it's definitely not my strong point, which leaves me with either Maths or Physics. I've already chosen English Lang & Lit HL and Business Management HL but I've heard that Physics and Maths HL are by far the hardest IB HL subjects. Considering I'm not too good at maths (but I have amazing tutors) and I'm also not top of the class at physics, I don't know what to do. Is Physics Hl or Maths HL easier?

Hello, I'll be starting IB this August and was wondering if there are any study guides or textbooks anybody could recommend? I will probably just use the textbook which my school uses for my subjects but revise using these study guides. This is my 6th week of grade 11 DP and from the first week i have been taking Computer Science, our teacher decided that it would be best to first start on topic 4 that is "computational thinking" as she believes that it is the hardest topic and should be covered first, today I had my first unit test on computational thinking and i found it to be very very challenging, the quiz out of 48 marks covers purely algorithms and problem solving, will the computer science exam be purely problem solving or will there be other components such as textbook theory and such? In other subjects i believe that all topics are evenly distributed in the exam and have generally the same numbe…

Okay, so to begin with some context, I'm going into my final year of diploma. Here are my classes: English (HL) French (SL) Math (SL) Chem (SL) Biology (HL) Geography (HL) Plus the obvious TOK, and another HL English extension. I'm a solid 90+ in everything except 3 things: Math, Chem, and French. I'm just lazy in French, but I plan on getting it together this year so its irrelevant. However, when it comes to math and chemistry, I have never experienced so much difficulty with classes in my life. I'm obviously no savant, but even for my standards, the grades that I get in them are awfully low. In Math 11, I got a 79. In advanced fun…

Hi all! I'm on here because I'm super nervous about getting a bad mark or even failing my math IA. I'm worried I didn't use complicated enough math required and that I relied too heavily on one of my sources and that they will think I plagiarized. What will happen if that happens? I'm a prospective IB student hoping to get a >40 and my classes are HL A&A, Psych, Chem, Bio (I'm locked into some HLs because some SL classes aren't available at my school) and SL French and Lit. Hi friends I am new to this forum who will be writing my DP exam in may 2021. I am in process of finalising the subjects right now. I am inclined toward math and computer science as career and want to opt for analytical math, phy and computer science ( all HL) and english and French ( both as SL). regarding the sixth subject, I need to take one subject from group 3 but my top choice university ( EPFL Switzerland) has a requirement of history or geography which my school doesnt offer and at the same time EPFL requirements ( for IB students) makes chemistry ( of course at SL level)an option to be eligible to apply at EPFL. I noticed a lot of the people on here are worried if they should risk a remark or not. In my opinion, it depends on your current mark, and the subject. Although the Math SL and HL marks don't tend to move, since they are comparatively more objective than, let's say, English and History, I risked it! I needed just 1 mark to move up from a 5 to a 6 (I had a 64, and the lower grade boundary for a 6 was a 65). I talked to my IB coordinator, and he was hesitant with my decision, as there is a possibility that my mark might go down as well. The reason why I decided to get my paper remarked was because of the university applications. If I were to apply to the Universi…

Hi I'm looking to go into the medical field in university but I'm not sure whether I should take HL Math or HL Psych. As of right now, I really want to study neuroscience in uni and I know Psych would help with that but at the same time, HL Math might be really important especially with calculus and all. My current subject choices are: HL Biology, Chemistry, Psych/Math SL English Lang Lit, Chinese B, Psych/Math Please let me know what you think is best and in general what you think of the subject combination. I know it will be extremely challenging and I'm scared but I like the subjects and I really want to head into the medical field. Thank you!
