In my EE for English B, I forgot to add footnotes or in-text citations. However, I have a full bibliography in MLA. Will my work be considered as plagiarism?

Hey guys, Trying to find the IB external deadlines for this year (May 2019). I am not talking about exam schedule but the external deadlines for EE, ToK, WT, IA...etc., the deadline when the school has to submit those work. I have found dates for last year (2018) here: https://isa.edu.gr/uploads/files/5adec6dc6ce90/DP Assessment Procedures.pdf but I couldn't find any for this year.

Hey guys! Although I'm merely a freshman, my sophomore year classes dictate what my future IB subjects are, so I have to get this figured out. I'm leaning toward a major in engineering or computer science, but I've always loved literature since I was young and it's extremely hard for me to find a focus. Assuming I were to major in something like CS when I'm in college though, would the following IB subjects work? Math AA SL Economics SL Spanish SL Physics HL English HL Design Technology HL (Our school's Computer science teacher doesn't exactly do her job well...) Thank you for your insight!

So I just finished my History HL IA, and it counts for 20% of my grade. My teacher sent our IAs without informing us, and it was practically one of my first drafts. I think I'm at a middle to high 5. History is one of my stronger subjects, so I'm really worried because it was one of the subjects I was banking on for a 7. Is it possible to get a 7 if I get a 7 in the final exam? Given that for most subjects, the IA is 20%, like in math, if I score a 7 (theoretically, I know its unrealistic lol but yeah) in all my final exams (the papers), would the scores for these subjects have a chance of being at 7? Thanks.

Hi. Hello. You may be wondering when in the ever loving god am I going to start posting my problems, and I promise you I'll be starting soon. First, I'd just like to say I will be going into the IBDP programme this upcoming August. Woo-hoo. Much enthusiasm. Anyways moving on, if you've read the forum title then I guess I'd skip the part where I'd start ranting about how I've always wanted to pursue law because of those criminal justice and injustice documentaries I've been watching as of most recently. Well, just last month myself and many others have started selecting the courses we'd be taking in the diploma programme and I would just like your input on…

Dear Ms/Mr, I am Ananya, an MYP-5 student studying at Sreenidhi International School, Hyderabad, Telangana, India. I am sending this mail to talk to you regarding the possibility of talking to your students regarding some information for our IDU project. IDU, Interdisciplinary Unit, is an initiative taken up by the MYP-5 students to make a product to address a world issue keeping in mind the various subject disciplines and inter-linking them. We, a group of six people, decided to work on making a documentary about smartphone addiction, paying attention to its causes, consequences, and solutions to curb it. For this year’s IDU, it is c…

So I don't know if it is only my retarded ass school that has gone rogue from the IB system and decided to implement their own system of predicted grades that don't make utter sense at all whatsoever. I am fortunately a senior(thank god I can leave my ****hole school) and we have received something called "projected" grades in October of last year so that we can send those grades into university applications. "Projected" is a term that I have rarely come across in IB and no other schools should be using this term. Isn't it meant to be predicted grades? The schools defense insists that they both mean the same thing but please correct me if I am wrong, I f…

Have anyone experienced being in a class with many (over half of the students are unmotivated and lazy) unmotivated students? If so, could you tell me your experience or how you handled it? And can you maybe give me some tips to how I can stay motivated despite other people influencing my motivation? Honestly, for me it is really tiresome and it sort of drains my energy every time I enter the class. And the group works are the worst. Because if you are placed in a group with other people, you will often find your self doing everything. If you are lucky, you will at least find one who actually do something. However, since many of the students are …

Would the IB penalize someone for writing a fact on a paper without saying where the information was gotten from? If you are talking about a relatively famous person, and mention when they were born or when they died without "citing" that information, would you risk failing your diploma? I have heard the iB has some degree of tolerance for these things, but in this case, it also isn't really an idea, but an objective fact. How does that work?

Math IA - what exactly is math exploration/math project? what is the difference? Can anyone help me understand the difference in essay and presentation in TOK? the difference I mean that, is the content of essay and presentation have to be the same? Hi, I was wondering how the final Chem grades are calculated. So I know that the IA is 20% of the grade so does that mean if you get a 7, it will be (7*0.2) I barely got a 7 in my IA (one point away from a 6) and was wondering if that matters at all. Like are all 7s the same or do the individual points matter holistically?

Hello, I am currently at a school running the IB diploma for the first time ever and my grade has become the Guinea pigs. This is fine but students are convinced that the school is not running it properly. At the moment, my predicted grades are a concern. In french class, my teacher has not converted any of our grades from IB to the regular diploma scores. In addition, she is not weighting the ib-styled exams as much as content for the province’s curriculum. Meanwhile in math class, my ib-styled exam was higher, so was my IA and so is the mean of all my tests and assignments this year. I have risen my math mark up 20% since the beginning even though before this year…

I'm doing a secondary research on "Viability of Cactus mucilage in purifying polluted drinking water during flooding in Rohingya camps”. I'm looking at all the water sources of the coastal regions in Bangladesh and at scientific data on cactus mucilage cleansing performance on different contaminants. I heard secondary research isn't good enough , so I'm really concerned. Any comments ?

So Im about to go through course selections for IB11/12 pretty soon and I don't know if I should take Math Studies, Math SL or Math HL. I am currently getting a low B in Pre IB Math 10 (Math isn't my strongest subject). I am wanting to go to UBC, McGill or UT in either Biochemistry or Biology. After, first year, I am planning to apply to a forensic science program at UBC/BCIT which can lead to a career in medicine (surgeon), forensic sciences, teaching or detective work (the career paths I'm interested in) or the marine biology program.Additionally I'm also interested in criminology/psychology but that has little to do with math Which math course would be the best fit for…

Hi, I am currently taking both Pre IB Spanish and French 10 at school. As course selections are coming up, I don't know which to take (I cannot take both since I need 2 sciences for uni). I am a former French immersion student in BC but I know that French is really hard although French is one of Canadas official language and it will be useful. However, I heard Spanish is super easy and I have been noticing that it is super easy as well but it isn't relevant to where I live. Please help!

Well, is it possible? I get good okayish grades in every other subject, but I'm bound to get a 1 in math studies. I've worked hard in math but I'm just not a math kind of guy, and I've heard a sufficient grade average makes up for a 1 in math, but I've seen people on here claim a single 1 keeps you from getting the diploma. Can I get a final verdict?

I've seen people talking about their predicted scores, mostly in relation to applying to universities. Upon asking my SL Math and HL Chem teachers on separate occasions, they said that teachers aren't allowed to tell students their predicted scores. And after talking to IB seniors at my school, they said that you apparently never get your predicted scores. Is there an actual answer to this question? If so, how would I get my predicted scores? And on another note, I'll be applying in the summer to college and have heard that predicted scores are what are considered by high ranking universities when deciding on your acceptance. Is this true? And do the scores aut…

Thoughts of this topic for English EE? To what extent are C.S Lewis and James Matthew Barrie successful in rendering their child protagonists in The Magician's Nephew and Peter Pan sympathetic to adult readers? I spoke with my EE possible advisor and she said to maybe look at doing Slam poetry. The problem is that there isn't much research on Slam Poetry. Can someone please help and tell me if they've ever written an extended essay on slam poetry or an interesting comparison or analysing research question I could do.

There was a topic here that was discussing how heavy the workload in IB and there was a response saying that their IB experience was pretty similar to the GCSEs/iGCSEs, how true is this to those who did their GCSEs/iGCSEs? Is the workload and studying time similar? Is it ten times more intense?

Hello, I'm new here! I'm planning on applying to the I.B. program at a nearby (45 minute drive away) school that has it this year, and I wanted to know a few things, and maybe grab a handful of anecdotes or some advice. A funny story, I actually applied last year but got denied because I blasted AC/DC at max volume over the gym speakers during my first (and last) school dance and got suspended for two days. This year, my behaviour has been very good and my grades in my Honors classes excellent, and I'm pretty sure I'll get in this year. I'm in the 9th grade. As someone who's planning to major in physics/theoretical physics, is I.B. a good choice? I heard rumours tha…

I'm in grade 8 and i'm having my IB entrance exam in a month, and i want to study to make sure I get in. I have seen all of the sample questions and i can do them after thinking for a while. (math and english) From what i heard, There are 4 sections to the test- the math, the reading, the writing, and the problem solving/group work. I think I have the group work and the reading down, but im worried about the math. (I usually get good marks on my math tests, and i consider it to be one of my better subjects. I also do extra math homework assigned by the teacher for me and a couple of other kids) I just want to know what to prepare for. I go to eagle mountain middle school,…

So, first term exams (halfway through the year) over and I have done pathetically. I am probably getting a 28 or 29 overall. Is there any chance of recovering from this? I know there are no excuses except my own procrastination, but I have decided to slog for the next three terms to pull up my grades? So, am I over or is it just that I can have a bad first term and still get into a good college with better grades in the other terms like my school counsellor said?

For my IA I am building an automatic pet food dispenser. However, the problem is that the materials are unattainable for be because they're so expensive (Im talking almost $1,000, which I don't have). The prototype is a mandatory aspect of the IA. So, can I make my prototype out of different materials than I listed the actual product would be made out of? I planned for the product to be a combination of plastic and stainless steele, but for the prototype I wanted to make it out of wood. Is there a problem with that because from my understanding prototypes are functioning models, but they don't have to be made of the actual material, unless I'm wrong. Please help!

Hi everyone, I'm a DP student and I'd like to help the MYP students revise, by providing notes for all their units. I've done most of physics, chemistry, Maths and Humanities, however I'm struggling with Biology as I don't take it. By the way, if you don't know MYP stands for Middle years programme and is the course before DP, offered by 1400 IB schools. The course content is pretty similar to IB DP. So, i'm wondering if there's some people here who take Biology and would be willing to write up some short notes, on the MYP Biology units. My friends did half of the units already so there's not many left. I'll list the units i'm still missing below and put …
