Hi, I would really like to do something useful this summer so I was thinking to go to a summer school this summer, the problem is however, i dont find any. That's why I'm asking here if anybody knows about any cool school in Europe, preferably something that has to do with humanities or social studies, and not too expensive, for less than 800 euros a week. Thanks a lot if somebody can help me with that.

While walking around a small town near my own a friend of mine kept making comments about how my lip ring made me stand out as a city girl and that people around us will think, "Boy, that girl is trouble". So I was curious as to what inital judgement people actually have when they see body piercings of any sort. As well as if all body piercings give off the same message or do certain ones provoke stronger judgement than others. I know people always make inital judgements whether they admit it or not, so go ahead and voice these, I won't be offended as I know people make judgement on way strange things than just piercings.

No matter what I do I can't seem to focus enough on my school work, and I end up going on sites like facebook, or I randomly start gaming at 2 A.M in the morning, even though there's still homework left... Does anyone have any tips to stop this procrastination ?

Although I may add more colours soon, I need to decide which skin will become IB Survival's new default design. Please vote and let me know what you think! The skins can be changed using the bottom left dropdown menu.

I've taken a few personality 'quizzes' before - you know, those short, informal ones you can find on Facebook or whatnot. I never really liked/agreed with them, because they often asked very obvious questions and the results never really tell you antyhing you don't know. But recently in our Career and Life Management (CALM) class, which is a localized mandatory course similar to health I suppose, we took a personality test that has an extensive amount of research behind it. It's called the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator - has anyone taken this test before? I found my results very enlightening and thought that the descriptions were fairly accurate. What are your opinions…

Do you have that in your school? From 9.25-9.45am, the bell goes to signify dropping everything and reading wherever we are: in the corridors or classroom. It's preperation for World Book Day.

Hello, I am looking for anyone connected to St. John's International School in Waterloo, Belgium (alumni, current or past students). I attended the PYP program there before moving out of Belgium. Since I don't do Facebook or any other social networking site (unless this is considered one), I am trying to find people who might be up to date on St. John's or even.. possibly... people I know. Please respond if you have been a student there! Update: I have renewed contact with my former piano teacher from those years, who is now teaching IB music at St. Johns. Exquisite joy and heartbreak! It's just one person, but it's a start. I'm happy enough for now.

Rest in Peace Mr. Jack, you will be missed by me and by all of your students. You taught us about life and that is way more important than teaching alone could have ever done for us. He may have been judged often times for his size, but the only thing that should ever have been judged was his size of heart. He was a great person who was always compassionate and caring. He was not only a teacher, he was also a coach, entrepreneur, philanthropist, friend and member of our family. You have inspired so many of us to be who we are and it was through you that we have become who you are. Thanks for being my teacher for so many years along with my coach and teacher of life. You …

hey guys anybody likes to play ten-pin bowling? how often do you play? did you ever join competitions or something? I myself don't play bowling but I play the bowling computer games I have a few questions for bowlers: you know the surface on which you roll the bowling ball.. is that smooth and flat? like 100% flat? not slanted to any direction at all? (because even 1° makes a difference ) once you roll the ball, does it roll in a straight line? or does it roll towards the sides of the alley? if the surface is flat, the ball is supposed to roll in a straight line, right? did it ever happen to you that your bowling ball has touched a pin but the pin does not fall? like m…

YO~! I need some advices and the likes for the IB so can be properly aware of the things that needs to be done and to do and such. I would also appreciate if it were from your experience as well. Since I only seem to be motivated by doing school work and not by revising, and I seem to be intoxicated every weekend by just gluing my face to my laptops screen. Plus, this would also benefit others who are new to this IB course if ever they come across this topic.discussion. Many thanks in advance~!!!

So, I'm a junior right now and I got the letter to join NHS. In fact, everyone I know got the letter to join. I asked around and wondered, "Well, what does NHS do?" People replied, "Oh yeah, it's a great program. You have to get service hours signed...blah blah blah....looks good on college application." Well ok, I thought. I guess I'll join. But then I thought again. I'm already doing service hours for IB, aren't I? And the counselors have been really vague on whether or not CAS and NHS hours can overlap, so why do it? Does it really look that great on college application if everyone in my class is in it? If that's the case, then it's not very selective. The lowest grade…

Hi all, There's about one month left before the finals: how did/do you stay motivated studying for the finals? I'm a big sufferer of apathy, a big procrastinator and a big youtube binger. Obviously I'm not asking for your direct motivation (is that possible over the internet somehow?) but some tips would be very well appreciated.

Through random conversations, someone said this to me: And I paused a while to think.. This is brilliant.. If I discovered an element, what would I name it? Looking at table 4 in the Chemistry Data Booklet, I thought I'd name it Internationalus Baccalaureatium. Why? Because I think that the school year that I have enjoyed the most is my IB1 year.. Despite of the amount of workloads and the pain of IB, I enjoy being on this forum and helping people around. I wouldn't be here if I didn't take IB. I like IB albeit it gets on my nerves. Thus I would like to name that element after IB and if I got to discover another one I'd name it Deskrium So I thought I'd ask you guys wh…

you pick a career for me: I'm not good at working in a team I'm good at keeping up with emails and cross referencing people who need to know about these emails. I'm good at preaching, and am very cocky. I'm slightly good at volleyball, but too fat to improve anymore. I like food I'm good at making food I'm good at not caring about making friends when there's business to be done! I'm bad at people hating me because I did something wrong... I like cake. right now someone pick a career for Elsa!

Now I know teaching is a very respectable position and deserves much respect, but there have been some teachers in my school years that have just blown me away by their stupidity. My chemistry taecher is barely qualified to be a teacher. for example: She gave us a homework assignment that non of us understood and she was to lazy to explain it and just gave us all the answers, then she gave us a test and we all failed miserably and she said it was our fault for not being dedicated students, mind you this is an IB teacher and I was in dismay at how she taught our class. I like all my other teachers though and have never had problems with any other teachers at my school. Hav…

So, many people know that some... thing (an asteroid perhaps) will finally be in between us and the sun on December XX, 2012, after a lengthy (3 million year) orbit. It's believed that it is so large, that it will completely block out the sun for several weeks, and freeze us over. What's your take on this? I personally think it's a load of tosh... After all, people thought that the world would end on January 1, 2000... And besides, by 2012, The world will probably find a way to destroy, or shift the asteroid before it's able to block out the sun. Either that, or it could be smaller than we think it is... I also realize Mr. 692287002 has a lot to say... Don't you Tyler?

How many of you can still remember the nursery rhymes you used to sing when you were little (or even now, no harm in that) my favorite is: Sing a song of sixpence a pocket full of rye, Four and twenty blackbirds baked in a pie. When the pie was opened the birds began to sing, Oh wasn't that a dainty dish to set before the king? The king was in his counting house counting out his money, The queen was in the parlour eating bread and honey The maid was in the garden hanging out the clothes, When down came a blackbird and pecked off her nose! whats your favorite??

Hey everyone! This past summer, my family moved to Dubai from Karachi, because of my dad's work. Here, I took admission at a school and started the IB DP. However, I went to school from September, to the end of November, after which I left school. I know it sounds weird and surprising that I left school, but I had a valid reason. Right from my first day at school, I hated it. I was unable to make friends, I was lonely and extremely depressed, and I felt like I wouldn't be able to tolerate the misery for two long years. The environment of the school was horrible, and people didn't talk to you unless they thought you were cool. Socially, I was unable to integrate, and after…

Next year, my county decided to change all of the High Schools to block scheduling. The way my school is going to do this is have "A Days" and "B Days" or something like that, with 3 classes in each "day" and one class that is included in both A and B days. The classes are going to be around 90-100 minutes long, instead of the normal 45-50 minutes. Does anyone have any experience with this type of schedule? If you do, what study/work habits did you create to adapt to this schedule?

You know you've had one. Any language student will be able to clearly remember that one time so detrimental to their reputation and recall it with ease. At least though, we can laugh In french one time.. we were reading out loud to the class a passage in french, one person at a time. When it was my turn, I came across a word I had never seen before 'dehors', meaning in this context 'outside'. Not wanting to stop and ask what it meant, I took a shot at it. For example a friend X always calls other friends and never me! he is so competitive and jealous. The other friend Y just calls me on some afternoons when he´s bored, but never at night to go out, c…

What video games do you like? Is there any specific reason? Do you find time to play them as an IB student? I personally love the Legend of Zelda and Final Fantasy series. They're both just so well-made! From plot to even the music, it's all just so breathtaking. They're always a main source of inspiration to me, and I sometimes get so obsessed to the point I analyze the plots bit by bit. And I love the gameplay, of course, haha. I usually cram 48 hours straight on weekends/vacations to beat the games, although I eventually get tired as they end up taking 60+ hours, so I sleep and continue for another 2 days after 14 hours of sleep.
