So Halo: Reach multiplayer beta has been out for like 6 days. How do you think it is? I personally think the jetpack really lived up to my expectations, and the loadouts, new gametypes, and everything else is really quite great. Since the CTF patch that made it actually winnable, i also think CTF is nice. The new maps are pretty cool too, especially the one where they are assembling the UNSC Frigate. I like that one. Anyone else played it/like it? Feel free to vote "i don't know what Halo: Reach is" if you have no idea what i am talking about

This might seem cheesy, but I feel really comfortable being an IBer. Not for, like, the work or anything like that, but because of the community the IB builds. [/advert] My school has 11 girls doing the IB in my year, and 73 girls doing the A Level (English qualification). The A Level girls have completely shunned us, and that's made the 11 of us so close and tight. Annoyingly, but it's happened. They seem to think of us as a league of our own, which is really quite annoying. But even on this board, for example, I just feel like there's a good community. Not just because we have something in common, but because we share the strain the IB can often give us. Like the deathl…

Hi everyone, May exams are halfway done, and I just thought I'd share with you my school's tribute to the IB, featuring the entire graduating class of 2010! (We're trying to see how many hits it can get on youtube ) (And yes, I am in it. Guess which one I am.)

Hey everyone, So, I have a 2 in a HL course and I apperantly need 28 points to get my diploma. Does anyone know whether the bonus points count for that, or do I need to collect 28 points just with my 6 IB courses? Thanks

Hi, i'm new here. I thought there might be a newcomer thread to have new people introduce themselves but I couldn't find one.... so I made a new one instead. If there is one or if this thread isn't in the right place soorryy. I just thought I'd say hi, see what's up, how many people are actually active here, how this place works. I'm a sophomore, going into real IB next year... going to graduate from the MYP thingy this year I guess. My school is a sort of small middle+high school in the States, but getting bigger (and filled more annoying middle schoolers). I bet there's the very least possible number of electives at our school Lol.. My view on IB is sort of depressed.…

Swine flu is getting pretty big on the news, and I'm wondering- what do people think about it? There's been a few slightly conflicting representations depending on where I get the info - i.e. how treatable it is, if it'll become a world epidemic...etc. What do you think about it?

The layout I am looking for is a banner at the top, a sidebar, and a space for body text. For an example, go to one of my SIXTH GRADE (?!, please don't judge, I'm aware the color selection is terrible) projects here! http://www.odec.ca/projects/2006/wang6j2/ Unfortunately, this is for a research project, however, me and my partner lack any HTML skills or site design skills whatsoever! The tools we have access to are Adobe Dreamweaver CS3. That's about it.

As a human being that has sold her life to the IB in exchange of tons and tons of endless work, one might think that I would spend my time studying, that is, "working hard" (I do not know if this is the case with all IB schools, or even schools in general, but our school seems to be in love with the "Hard Work" issue). Anyway, instead of submerging myself with the "tons of endless work", I find myself simply doing, ummm, well...Nothing. Perhaps I am caught by the invisible chains of procrastination! Anyone out there also caught by the invisible chains of procrastination? Also, anyone out there that has managed to free themselves from them? How?

This is running joke in my HLH class, but has anyone else noticed that every time a totalitarian leader goes on holiday something bad happens? Evidence: Khruschev goes on holiday: he is deposed Brezhnev goes on holiday: there is a coup Gorbachev goes on holiday: there are TWO coups and the USSR collapses Mao goes on holiday: 6 million people die Clearly, if history has taught us anything other than DEFEND YOUR FRONT WITH BELGIUM it is never to go no holiday.

Honestly, how many of you out there have been the product of a great relationship that not only ends, but the other person gets over you first? Sorry, just low today, and would be nice to see how many people out there have gone through the same and feel like ranting. But yes. Curse relationships, wouldnt it be lovely if we could all simply survive on old episodes of Friends and large quantities of icecream? of course, doing the IB doesnt really help the stress levels...

It's been a couple of months since I picked my HL's and SL's for grade 11 and 12. A huge problem I faced was what courses to take. At the end I ended up taking HL English, Biology, History and SL Math, Chemistry and French. Now I haven't decided what career I wish to pursue in the future. So my question is, did you guys know what career or field of work you wished to pursue before picking your IB subjects?

How old were you on the happiest day of your life and what happened? A random question... but I think quite a few of us sometimes have to just take a step back from all the stress and think about happy times. I'll start. I was sixteen on the happiest day of my life and it was just quite an ordinary day. My friends and I were tired as hell after school. Conveniently, it was a Friday so we all went out to McDonald's to eat a bit before retiring to home to sleep. However, what initially started as just a brief stay at Mickyd's to get food extended onto a five-hour conversation about life, haha. The six of us just kept on talking for hours on end about nothing special but it…

I thought it was time to create a place where everyone can share his/her favourite meals etc, if applicable with recipe? Would be great to have some stuff from different cultures in here, too To start it off, here a culinary delicacy from Austria: Cabbage Strudel ("Krautstrudel") chop up 1 cabbage and cook for about half an hour, add 2 (or if you like, more) chopped carrots and a vegetable stock cube after about 15 mins. Get rid of the water that's left and place the filling on puff pastry which you then "stick" together at the top. Preheat oven to about 160° and bake strudel undel golden (about 30-45 mins) yummy

Hi guys, Well, I'm gonna apply at French unis to start studying foreign languages in September Now I just need to decide WHICH languages to take. There's first the choice between Farsi and Arabic to make... here a few considerations... My mother's husband is from Iran which might be helpful (and also, I could then understand his parents who are visiting us every year and who can't speak any other languages) Arabic is spoken by more people than Farsi! However, Arabic is more difficult!? I read somewhere that the only "reason" to study Arabic is to read the Qur'an. ... and other ideas? What do you think I should do? Also, i might not be able to study Spanish, which I'd li…

Hello IBS, I'll be writing in the science section for my school paper and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of possible topics I could write about that could be interesting? Or maybe experiments I could carry out and write about e.g. How to make a CO2 rocket. Basically, interesting things people would want to read about. The help would REALLY be appreciated.

I don't really have a fear of public speaking or anything like that, so that's not really a problem for me. Thanks guys

I'm in my last year of IB, and being a Senior this year, it's gotten a whole lot busier. I've had tons to do. The situation is, I have two friends, one of which is my best friend, who are not in IB. They don't seem to understand what I have to go through. The way I see it, in traditional classes, all they strive for is the grade; to make the A on the exam and boost their GPA. In IB, however, I have to not only make the grade, but make sure all that information stays in my head so I can pass the IB exams at the end of my high school career. This became an issue last October, my busiest month, when my two friends were saying how they wanted to go on a cruise in February and…

Hello everyone on IBS. My intention after IB is to pursue a career in medicine. However, I know that to gain offers into university (especially those in the UK) it isn't only the grades which are important. I'm very interested in the sciences but I also have an interest in books and literature. For this reason I was wondering if anyone has read any novels (fiction or non-fiction) that might interest me???

Hi everyone, Today was the day where we finally registered for our upcoming exams in May, and now everyone around me is considering dropping Full IB into Partial IB, or no IB courses at all...the final deadline to register exams is the end of October, where everyone's saying it's the day where "we all sign our lives away." I've got a bit of a unique background--I was originally in Partial IB last year but I put myself back in Full this fall, all caught up with everyone else in the game (The only thing I dropped was French). The same friends who supported me back in full are now considering to drop to partial themselves. I don't know...really it's their lives, not mine. I…

Okay I keep seeing people around the forum saying that they're "writing" an exam which I first assumed was a mistake, then thought possibly they themselves were designing the papers, and finally have concluded that perhaps in some parts of the world, writing = answering. Of course I then reflected that this is misleading and makes very little sense as the exam is something happening to you, not you happening to it, unless you are indeed the designer. After further contemplation it occurred to me to think what I'd say (obviously the most correct verb of them all...) and decided I'd probably go for "sitting". Alas this makes no real sense either - although it's not so misl…

I'm torn between two courses of which Medicine and International Relations. I love languages and dare say I'm half-decent at them but then again the dream job is becoming a surgeon (whether it be specialised or general). What do you guys think, I'd imagine it's up to what the person wants to do but what do you guys think are the things that entail each course and job. Thanks in advance.

I've been browsing the net and came across this thing called a school society. To be more specific, a medic's school society. So I started thinking to myself, what's the purpose of having such a society? Is it worth suggesting to my school or was it just invented by some pretentious children hoping to sound impressive?

Just a question for all of you. Would you like to see more forums here at IBS? Maybe a "technology" forum, etc. At the moment we are a very academic forum, and although I want to keep the focus on that, it makes sense to provide a place for all of you to talk about almost anything you want. If you have any ideas, just post them here, and we'll see what we can do .

Do you think that Instant Messaging is one of the greatest inventions of our time, or one of the worst? IMO, I.M has both good and bad traits. Good: stress redoucer allows you to have many conversations at once Easily mulitask Bad: procrastinating/distraction rush/imcompelte homework addiction stay up to the wee hours cyber bullying I think there are far more cons then pros when it comes to instant messaging. Do you think that I.M is good, bad or are you nuteral?

I'm wondering what to do during the last few weeks of summer for my first year of IB. We're a pioneer group at our school, so we are probably going to experience turmoil to fullest. I'm being a bibliophile and actually reading my required reading for English and Latin, unlike some people I know, who are pull out their hair stressing during the year. Do you think it is a little overboard to be studying the syllabi and reviewing the topics covered. Well, I just want to be successful so the program takes off at my school.
