Hi! I currently have an urgent issue. In Sweden there will be a change next year that will make it near impossible to apply to universities here. We still have time (ca 3 weeks) to influence this and hopefully stop them. The change will mean that to get into medical school for example at Lund uni it will take 44 points, which is crazy compared to Oxford's standard offer of 38 points. They are saying that 45p (IB) = 20,0 (Swedish) which is not true because many Swedish students get 20,0 but only 24 IB students out of ca 11 000 has gotten a 45 in Sweden in the past 10 years. We beg of you to sign our petition. Follow the link below please https://www.change.…

hello everyone, I'm really bummed out at the moment. It's time for university applications and i'm at a dead end because i don't even know which university to go to. I wanna do medicine but I'm doing math studies and only bio HL with chem SL. I'm aiming for universities in Canada, UK or asia. UK universities are difficult to get into in terms of medicine though. Anyways, i was just wondering if anyone would be willing to write the universities their planning to go to or are going to. Also suggestion would be much appreciated because i'm at a dead end here. Thanks in advanced to anyone who'll bring me out of this misery.

Hello everyone. So yeah, the question is already stated above. However, I am concerned that not too many universities will take me with 30 IB points, in Europe, that is. I was hoping for like 34... that didn't happen. Also, I don't know if this will have any effect, I completed my IB Diploma in May and am taking a gap year until mid 2017. Preferably I want to apply to Sweden, where there don't seem to be any specific entry requirements... Back to the question... do you think I can make it into some decent Swedish uni or not-so-decent... for an Economics/Humanities/Modern Languages, this sort of stuff, undergraduate degree? I heard they have two atte…

Hello guys, I'm currently in my second year of IB. I'm interested in following a career in the tech industry. So, I want to get a bachelors degree in Computer Science but am unsure about university options. I need to get into a good university, with a scholarship cause without one wouldn't be financially feasible. Now, I've done some research, but it seems rather difficult to tell whether a university is good based off a page or two. Could you guys weigh in and give some advice? Please and Thank You.

Hello, I'm taking the IB Diploma Program and currently in Year One. I've been learning web design and computer programming online for approximately five years now. Is there any way I can get qualified to prove to my University that I'm good at it? I am starting a few projects so that I can show them what I can do (and for CAS). Can I do much more? Thanks.

Hello! I have a very basic question about uni that no one has been able to explain to me yet. When you apply to uni, which grades do you apply with? I'm thinking of applying to Scotland with the deadline being 15th of January. Do you then apply with your IB2 autumn grades, or do you get predicted ones? Any help/explanation is highly appreciated P.L.

Hey I'm about to start my IB education at an international school in Karlovy Vary. I'm interested in studying Business/Management in Europe, so can you recommend me some good, internationally recognized courses in English? Also, do they look at 10th grade grades? In mt 9th grade I had a 5.0/5.0 GPA, but in my 10th grade I got 4,11/5.00 due to personal reasons. Will this matter? I'm also looking at unis anywhere, so if you know any good ones which will tolerate my 10th grade grades in the US, Canada, Asia (wherever) please help me out. Thanks!

Hello I love Asia as I went on the exchange to Taiwan a few years ago and completely fell for Asian (especially Chinese) culture and languages. I've just finished my IB course this year and today all of us obviously received our scores. I did get 5 in Chemistry, 6 in Biology and 6 in English B (my HL's). Now I am taking a gap year to earn some money, do stuffs I like etc., but I have to think about my uni. I would like to study medicine and I was thinking about China, however I'm not sure if it's a good idea to actually apply there because from what I read on the Internet Chinese medical schools aren't generally considered as good as say European o…

Hi Fellow IB Students / Graduates, i have completed the IB and am now looking to apply for unis (for next year). I wanted to do dentistry in the UK but found out that i needed Chem HL (for literally all unis in the uk and ireland). I am now struggling to find a good university that teaches dentistry in english in europe. I had a look around an…

Hey! I've applied to both NUS and NTU in Singapore for engineering and was wondering if anyone else here had also applied. I would also be very much interested in any information you have about their student experience. Also, for grading is there a fixed bell curve which they follow, eg. top 10% of students get an A, or do they have a fixed grade boundary system. Thanks

Heyy guys, so I've chosen my IB subjects recently and one of them is Maths HL (I have 4 HLs) My great passion is physics and that's something I want to pursue later in life BUT recently I've heard how extreemeeeelyy difficult HL Maths is and I wanted to ask if there are any uni courses that have anything to do with physics where they don't require HL Maths? Another small question I have, is it more beneficial to have Chem instead of Bio as another HL if I want to study something with physics when it comes to admission? Tysm!!!

So I applied for a Bachelor's in Psychology to the Universities of Maastricht and Twente in the Netherlands back in February, and I got an offer almost instantly from Twente, but now a month and a half later still no offer from Maastricht. I don't want to seem impatient, but I'd just like to have received all my offers or rejections before my final exams in May so I don't have to keep thinking about it and can concentrate on studying. I'm just wondering from any of you who have applied to Maastricht or the Netherlands in general, how long did it take them to give an offer? I've also heard that sometimes you have to apply using the actual final grades you get in July for…

Hi there, I wanted to inquire about the best scores for veterinary sciences, preferably Canada because they offer full legislation for international vet practice (so far I've heard, correct me if I'm wrong) and I like the environment in Canada. My dad used to tell me stories of his time as a university student in Canada So far I'm only getting about 32/34s but I'm hoping I'd get 2 marks for a 36. I'm not sure if Canada universities would accept me I heard most medical studies require above 40 marks from the IB which is hard for me to do so. I've been self-studying biology and maths (but my maths teacher gave me past year papers to work on) and it has been a lon…

Hi everyone! I have some questions and I would be happy if you can help me somehow. I am planning to become a French teacher for foreigners (high school, later on university teacher) (I am not French neither), what do you know about the "way" of becoming a teacher? What universities do you recommend? What about public relations? What subjects are better to take in DP for this? Is Business and management HL good for this?

Hello all, Since my first language is not English, I chose English B HL instead of English A, but then I realized that some Japanese uni such as Nagoya and Osaka universities accept IB students from English A. So I wonder if other uni such as Waseda or Sophia would also not accept English B students.. And I also wonder approximately what score would be needed to be accepted in Japanese uni. Thank you!

Hello, I would like to know what kind of academic extracurriculars and achievements could boost chances when applying to a top Ivy League school for studying physics (i.e. the natural sciences context) or engineering. I live in Europe, to be exact, in Finland. I have my non-academic extraccurriculars and achievements sorted out but I'm looking for the academic "wow" factor that can show how I have potential (at least try to show) in my subject of choice (physics or engineering in this case), as illustrated outside school. I would really appreciate some ideas or examples taking my subject in account! Recently a guy from my school with an extremely high SAT score, 45 …

I was just thinking and I got a bit curious. Do very prestigious universities, for example McGill (my top choice since it's in Canada and almost definitely the best in the country) look at your under-grad Uni when looking at your application? For example, Person A went to their local university. The university's minimum grade acceptance to their Biology course regarding the student's high school marks is 70%, and the place doesn't have too much of a reputation. At the end of Person A's last year, his average mark was 92%. It's also good to mention that he was a completely straight A high school student, who was also awarded the IB diploma. Then came along Person B. Pe…

I am interested in both(economics has crossed by mind also). Currently in high school(Pre-IB) I don't have issues studying any subject if I want/need to. In the past years I was highly set on medicine, with a few periods when I did prefer law or business/economics over medicine. Now with the deadline for my IB subject choices closing on me, I am totally confused whether to pursue law or medicine. The biggest thing that steers me away from medicine is the length of the studies. 11-13 years of studies in total is a bit off putting. I'm also good in natural sciences( especially bio and chem). Also the unpredictability of healthcare by the time I finish my studies is worrying…

I wonder how German universities take into account our Diploma. The farthest I have reached is this: http://www.frankfurt-school.de/content/en/education_programmes/bachelor/general_information_bsc/eligibility.html Does this mean, that if I want to for example to study Physics, but I have Biology and Chemistry at HL, I am still eligible to do so? Webpages of German universities aren't very helpful, some just say that there is a "free admission" or there's an aptitude test. <concerning the language, I will have passed DAF exams by the time I apply for the university>

Hello! I was wondering whether I require to take Higher level Maths for IB if I want to study Finance/Accounting at university? Currently I am taking up: HL Economics HL Physics HL History SL Maths SL Ab initio Spanish SL English Literature I have taken Economics as I want to go into that route. Physics, it will help me with the quantitative and analytical skills hopefully? and History will help me with more of the qualitative side, essay writing and everything. Do you think these options are ok? I do not think I am competent for Higher Maths as I am not outstanding in Maths (I'm good, but not great).

Hello, I decided to make a post where people would share their experiences(as for previous years). What is you predicted grade/where did you apply/ where did you get an offer etc. In this way you would certainly help us ( in the first year of IB) to see where we are and what we can aim for. Please share, if you want..

So right now in school, we're choosing our DP courses for next year. However, I am still unsure if I will be taking the full IBDP or just IB courses I know a lot of you will tell me that the IBDP is worth it and stuff, but I'm a pretty competitive swimmer (I swim around 9 times a week) so managing the IB as well as all my co-curriculars just sound absurd to me at this point. On top of that I would be having to do the EE, CAS, and TOK which I'm not particularly interested in, to be honest So my main question is will I still be able to get into a (RELATIVELY) good university by doing partial IB? Please keep in mind that I go to high school in Canada so I will be graduat…

Has anyone applied to this university or know much about it? Its ranked as number 12 on the QS World University Ranking So it clearly has a very good ranking. If anyone went there, can you please tell me how the university environment is? Because I'm still considering whether I should apply to it or not.. It is also cheaper than universities in the UK, US and Canada, and still happens to have an excellent ranking. So thats whats making me consider it as an option.. but since I dont know much about Singapore as a country, or about the university culture/environment, I'm hesitant about applying just yet.

So I've been thinking about two options: to study only commerce, or to study law and commerce - With commerce only, you need a low IB score to get into the course. However, since I want to go into finance, this may be more beneficial for me. - With the latter, you need a higher IB score of above 40 and doing law (and commerce) sounds better. Most IB students at my school tend to get in the 40s, and I don't want to waste all my education and a potentially high score by going to uni and doing a course which requires a low score that doesn't 'sound very good'. I want to stay in Australia, so going to a good UK or US uni to study commerce isn't an option I don't think…

Heyy, so my school offers the Dukes of Edinburgh award (DoE). I didn't do the bronze award last year but have now decided to join for the silver award. Apparently they've changed the rules this year so they're wayyy stricter, that plus that I don't have anyone to be in a team with has got me to consider not doing it.
