I recently received my IB marks a few days ago and I'm not really happy with it at all ( like at all ). My total score is 25 & I missed the upper boundary grade by 1 point in 3 different subjects & both the EE & TOK, meaning that I could have achieved a higher mark. I failed to get into my course by 3 points & am thinking of two options: 1. apply to a different course for now and then transferring to my original course throughout the semester 2. remark some of the subjects where I'm off by 1 point from the upper boundary grade At this point, I don't really

Greetings all, I plan to be doing Law in the UK after my IBs. I have been in discussions with alumni and educators and they have varying opinions on my science subject. As of right now I am doing Maths AA, Art and Sports Science for my Standard Levels. Should I consider switching my Sports Science for a more 'accepted' and 'popular' science such as biology or chemistry, or shall I continue to study Sports science, which I believe I will achieve a higher IB score in? TL;DR: Should I (read: Do Unis) prioritise Subject Choices or IB Score?

Success in the IB (for graduates or near-graduates)
LangLitProf posted a topic in General Discussion
Hello everyone! I'm an IB coordinator and teacher, and I'd like to better understand the writing habits and techniques of students who are or have been successful in the IB DP. As an experienced professional in the IB DP, I do have my opinions on the matter, but I'd like to hear from students. If you'd like, please respond by answering honestly the following questions. Thanks! What was your overall score in the IB? Please describe your workflow (research, writing, rewriting, etc.) for the many IB writing tasks. Please describe one or more successful writing techniques (par -
Hey all I'm thrilled to say that my teacher predicted me a 94/106 for HL visual arts. I have no idea what score this could be (and obviously it's a predicted so it could actually be far lower) Do you all have any idea what the score break-down is for HL art? It sounds like a high number but it could be a 3 for all I know. Thanks a lot!

Hello, Recently I got my predicted score from my supervisor for my Extended Essay, and I was wondering if anyone knew how easy it is to get a good grade on one if its based on Design Technology? My topic was Ergonomics. I am satisfied with my predicted score (21), however I don't know how accurate it would be. This is the first year (well, we're the first IB seniors at my school) that my school has had IB, so all of my teachers (except Chemistry) are new to the grading process. They went to training and used a rubric, but I'm not sure how much I should rely on the predicted score.

Does anyone know the ib avg. or the requirements to get accepted into the PEARL Programme at Keio University in Tokyo? I've contacted the admissions office but they only replied saying that they don't have any "cut-off" scores, and I was wondering if anyone knew a friend or student who got accepted to Keio PEARL.

I understand that the fees are rhe same than for normal sessions. However, i couldnt find exact information of the cost past the July 30th deadline, and the handbook is confusing. Could someone please tell me how much it would cost in euro to retake Maths and Physics in Nov 2017: before the July 30 deadline and after? (And if there is anither deadline that too)

Hello, When does the IB start grading stuff that you've submitted to IBIS, like the Extended Essay, TOK, IB Visual Arts material, and your English Written Assignment? etc. Does this happen before the exams are over? Like, are they marking everything now? In addition, if you, let's say get caught plagiarising on any of the above, do you get contacted? Or do you just fail your diploma? I'm pretty sure they contact you before your diploma is out to justify. Correct? Regards

Hey guys, I am finishing IB this May and was wondering what are the initial procedures needed to apply though UAC, e.g my year 12 number etc? I've never heard of this and my uni counsellor is useless as she told me that I have to do it alone once I graduate from school as we are no longer their 'responsibility"... Please any help will be much appreciated.. Thank you !

Hey guys. I found this scale online for converting IB scores to GPA: 7 = 4.0 6 = 3.7 5 = 3 4 = 2.3 I was wondering how accurate this is. I've got a GPA of 3.85 according to this (39/42 in my first year finals). Does that sound right? The thing is I'm not sure how this would take into account EE and TOK. If anyone has an 'official' scale to convert IB points to GPA, please let me know.

Hello everyone. So yeah, the question is already stated above. However, I am concerned that not too many universities will take me with 30 IB points, in Europe, that is. I was hoping for like 34... that didn't happen. Also, I don't know if this will have any effect, I completed my IB Diploma in May and am taking a gap year until mid 2017. Preferably I want to apply to Sweden, where there don't seem to be any specific entry requirements... Back to the question... do you think I can make it into some decent Swedish uni or not-so-decent... for an Economics/Humanities/Modern

Hi guys! I've just entered the IB DP1 programme, and I am taking English Lang & Lit HL. I am actually quite surprised with the amount of literature we'll be doing in the course as I'd though it would only cover like 50%. Anyway, I was wondering wether you guys could share some insight on the subject and give some tips on how to score well in it. PS. I'm not a native speaker - it's my second language but I'd say I am nearly fluent.. I am also doing another language A (langlit), so bearing that in mind, will the two be too hard to juggle? I hardly read that often but I

I just came out of my physics HL paper 3 exam. I didn't do well, although a large part of the blame is my horrible teacher. Anyways, I did pretty well on my internal assessment, and expect a 20/24 or 19/24. (hopefully) I did well on the paper 1 too, and might get from 28-30/40. Paper 2 was horrible (and you may have heard that the exam was very challenging), and I'm wildly estimating a 40/95 (this might be lower or higher idk) Paper 3: Section A I did really well, but Section B (engineering physics) was pretty bad. I don't know how to estimate for this one, as I don't know

Hi!, I was just wondering how does IA score counts towards the final grade. Can you still get a 7 on a subject with a 5 or 6 on the IA??

Hi there, I wanted to inquire about the best scores for veterinary sciences, preferably Canada because they offer full legislation for international vet practice (so far I've heard, correct me if I'm wrong) and I like the environment in Canada. My dad used to tell me stories of his time as a university student in Canada So far I'm only getting about 32/34s but I'm hoping I'd get 2 marks for a 36. I'm not sure if Canada universities would accept me I heard most medical studies require above 40 marks from the IB which is hard for me to do so. I've been self-studying biology and maths

Hi, there I'm currently in Grade 11 and it's my first year in DP. I have a question regarding whether I should drop one of my classes, or continue taking it and earning a lower point. I've thought about it myself, but it would be great if you can just spare a little of your time in helping me make my decision. Currently I take: *English A Lang&Lit HL *Japanese A SL *Psychology HL *Biology HL *Math SL *Chemistry SL (for group 6) I've just got my semester test results back, and I scored a 3 on my Japanese (we had to write a commentary, but it seems my interpretation of the text was d

I now someone'll be irked for my waste of bandwidth, but I just have a simple subjective question out there if anyone is willing: What is considered a good score on the Works in Translation Literary Essay? To clarify, I'm referring to the 1200-1500 analytically essay based upon teacher-developed prompt. Of course it morphs into individual topics of discussion, but it was made clear to me we have to start with the original teacher's prompt. I ask because I'm nervous about my own grade on the essay. My teacher reviewed our papers and gave each of his students and awarded me a measly 10 out of

Hi everybody! I have heard this thing, about how the IB once awarded one girl (who had already recieved 45 points) an extra point (a total of 46 points thus) because she had written such an amazing EE, or something like that. For a while I was even under the impression of that a few people recieve 46 points every year, but it doesn't seem to have been mentioned anywhere on the internet, so I suppose I am incorrect. Is all of this just a urban legend, or did someone really recieve 46 points once? I'd love to hear more, if anyone knows about this person who recieved an extra point!
