Hello! I am currently studying in the CBSE curriculum and I am contemplating whether I should choose the IBDP programme next year or not. I’ve gone through the syllabus and I find it very interesting. I’ve found great schools that offer the IBDP in my area. But some people I’ve spoken to (adults, who haven’t done the IB) are telling me that since I’ve been doing the CBSE curriculum all this time, I’ll find the transition very difficult. I would like to hear the advice and/or experiences of students that have transitioned from CBSE to IB. Thanks in advance!

Can someone confirm the word count for Spanish B HL Written Assignment rationale? My teacher said it's 150-250 words but on the official IB site (ibpublishing.ibo.org) I found that the maximum is 150 words.

Hello everyone, I was wondering whether it is safe if we write our IAs on Google Drive? Is it accessible to anybody apart from the owner? And what about the plagiarism check?

hey, this is my first post so im kind of not sure how to write these. i was looking at groningen univesity to study physics and im confused on the requirments. my clases are: Math, History, English A lang lit = HL Physics,French Ab, ITGS = SL so im not sure if i can do the course without Physics HL. I cant chnage because of the way my schools time table is set up. if i cant, are there any other good Physics Bachelor programms in europe where i can apply with Physics Sl? cause, from what i understand, Math Hl is more important because Physics is very math based.

Hi! I'm starting the IB this August and I am wondering what is is like. Is it true that you won't really have a social life? I'm also doing sports 4 times a week and I'm wondering whether I can still keep that up, or if I have to drop it. Also, I was wondering what CAS is and how you would go about and complete it. I'm completely new to all of this and I know practically nothing. I'm taking these subjects: English Lang Lit HL Chemistry HL Film HL Psych SL Chinese B SL Maths SL If anyone has any experience in those subjects please let me know what they are like! Thank you so much in advance.

Does anyone recommend or actually websites or apps to study for their exams? Ive looked into free things such as quizlet but am not sure how useful they actually are. And does anyone use paid things such as kognity? The price is quiet steep and Id like to know if its actually worth paying the money or simply studying the oldschool way. Thanks

So right off the bat, I know this has been stated a lot probably but help me out here. I’m in my junior year of high school, first year doing IB Diploma, and halfway through the school year. My lifestyle is mildly screwed up, it’s the last week of winter break (3 week break), and I’m stressing my ass off because of IB, but not doing anything about it! Supposed to be working on a rough draft of my math IA for the 3 weeks but was so confused on how to even start the math processes (Criterion C). I rethink why I waited this long to start, but I see no point in doing it now. I don’t even like taking the class and I’m no longer interested to learn this. In the back of m…

I'm not really sure what I want to do when I go off for university so my subjects are all over the place. I'm thinking Business Management (HL), Biology (HL), Art (HL), Math (SL), Language and Literature (SL) and Chinese (foreign language) (SL) I'm not sure whether I want to take Biology at higher level since I don't really see myself pursuing anything science related in university but lang and lit (english for me right now) is one of my weakest subjects and I don't really think I'm prepared to take it at higher level either (math and chinese aren't even an option for HL for me)

Hi! I'm new to the IB and i'll be starting it in a few weeks. I have no idea what to expect and I've heard from a lot of people that the ib is very difficult. I'm taking: HL: English Lang and Lit A Chem Film SL: Maths Psychology Chinese B If anyone knows anything about these subjects please let me know about your experience! I was also wondering about the IA, and when you do it? Is it in your first year of IB or the second? Thank you so much!

The course selection process for my school is starting in a month, so recently I've been thinking about the IB courses I want to take. I'm eligible to take 4 HLs (based on school GPA requirement), but I'm still not 100% sure on whether or not I want to go for that kind of rigor. I'm planning on studying medicine after high school (I'm genuinely interested in this career, it's not because of my Asian parents lol), in case that makes a difference. I've been considering choosing these courses: - English A Lang/Lit HL (native speaker, English teachers agree that my writing and literary analysis skills are very strong, and it's one of the classes I enjoy more…

So, I'm currently studying pre IB in my school and I have to choose courses I'm going to take next year. The thing is, it is going to be the first year of studying IB in my school and there are not much IB teachers or basically students that are going to study it. This caused my school to create two package of courses that students can choose. One of them offers HL or ST Turkish, HL English, ST ITGS, HL Chemistry and ST Physics. Other includes courses like arts and other stuff over science ones. My problem starts there cause I always wanted to be a vet but I'm not going to able to take HL or even ST biology. I have no idea what I want to be or study right now.I'm probably…

Hi, I'm currently a junior high student, registering for high school. I have the choice of partaking partial or full IB, but I dont know if it's worth it. My plan is to study computer science in waterloo, which is one of their "elite" programs. I feel like universities would acknowledge IB students over regular, but I like to be involved in school and dont want to sacrifice that time. Please help with my decision, thanks!

Recently we just had Individual oral(english b) in our school. Before the recording i forgot to put away my phone (i was more focused on the IO itself than realising i had my phone or even that i had my sound on) . And the phone rang during recording .Quickly realising my mistake i turned it off and finished my speech. After the exams my teacher casually meantions that its quite possible i will be unassesed by IB due to the belief that i had an unfair advatage during preparation. To my understanding if my IO is marked as unassed and i could fail my deploma due to me commiting plagiarism. Which stresses me out quite a bit .However this is the least…

Hi, I am doing the IB program in Chennai, India, and I am halfway through year. My subject choices are: HL Mathematics HL Chemistry HL Physics SL English Literature SL French Abinitio SL ITGS I'm aiming for a 7 in all subjects. When is an ideal time to start working on the Internal Assessments and is there any guide which I can follow to ensure that it matches up to the criteria required? I am also planning to do my EE in either physics or chemistry. Would taking a HL subject for an EE be too stressful? Also, for my ITGS IA, my teacher recommends making a website. I have a basic knowledge in html, but are there books or tutorials to…

Hello, I would like to do the IB the next year but my parents don't want to let me it. Why? As they say that the IB isn't important, the French Baccalaureate is enough and widely recognized around the World. Which is not utterly true. The nearest IB World School is up to 150km from my home, so I'm forced to go to an outstanding IB boarding school in United Kingdom. I am fully motivated for this kind of experience except my parents (my father understands me a bit but my mother does not) are against this idea of wasting 2 years of doing a "useless" programme. It triggers me everyday, the deadline becomes sooner and I haven't sent my application form yet. My mother thin…

Hi everyone, I would like to know if anybody can tell me about the IB and the American Universities. Does anybody know how many points do you need in order to get to top American universities like Harvard, Yale, UCLA, Berkeley, etc. Is IB therefore considered as priority for admission officers with regards to other high school diplomas? And is AP worth more for US Uni than IB? Thanks

Hi I hope all is doing well. So, I was late for the application of grade 9 pre-IB so I am going to school at a regular grade 9 level. I am now going into grade 10 pre-IB beginning next August. I know I will do fine in most subjects but I am mainly concerned about mathematics, science and French. For both math and science I am quite strong (in the 90s for the most part) but I understand for math that you do grade 10 IB math AND functions (which is regularly in grade 11). So I'm simply wondering if I can manage those courses coming from a regular grade 9 math program. As for science, I am not really worried because this is one of my stronger suites but any key points …

Ok.... So I am currently in grade 10 thinking of doing HL GEO next year. However I barley have prior knowledge about the subject. I have never taken it in MYP. Will I need to do any catch up before I start DP? Is HL geo that hard? I talked to many grade 12 students and some say it is easy but some say it is difficult. How much is the workload? and Do I need to study much for it?

Hi there! I am in G12, and now an applicant mainly targeting top 20s for chemistry+graphic/industrial design dual degree or design major (which means I am choosing chemistry as a second major at second year of college) My stats are okey: 720R, 780M, 110 TOEFL, 760 chem and 740 math (gonna retake probably) However, I have a 3.7~3.8 cumulative UW GPA with a 34 out of 42 at last semester in IB. (The average of two semesters is 36) Scores are really not my forte. I do have good ECs and a strong art/design portfolio (my teacher said that my portfolio has the level of work of an MFA student) My project and my portfolio website: https://www.behance.net/aquili…

Hi all, I will need to choose my HL soon but I'm struggling to choose which ones to do... I'm doing physics, chemistry, business management, english A, chinese B and math at the moment. My teachers highly recommend us to do english A L&L in HL but in my first semester exam I've gotten a 4..(7 in other subjects) so I know I'm really weak at english. But if I'm not doing english HL, I'm thinking of doing physics, chem and business HL, will it be really hard to do physics and chemistry HL together? Thanks a lot for the opinions!!!!

I've been considering changing one of my subjects after IB1, but I'm not really sure what's the best option for me. My current subjects are: English Lit HL Spanish B SL Music SL Bio HL Math HL History HL At my school, all IB students are usually required to take History because the only Group 3 subjects we offer are Psychology SL and History HL, and Psychology is intended (for us) to be a Group 6 replacement. My problem is that history is one of my weakest subjects. I've taken two AP history classes in the past two years and I struggled in both. I am finishing up my first semester of ib, and a new school. My dad got a job in another state, so we'll have to move at the beginning of the summer. It would be fine, except for finding a school that offers the classes I took/ am taking this year. Like, one doesn't offer film, the other doesn't offer world literature and offers a higher level math. I would be able to make up the math, but completely their lang course is difficult- it's not offered online. Recently, my mom had been discussing me during an early college thing where I would complete my junior year at a community college, but that would requiring me completely my second semester of senior year in Florida. Just wondering if it is legal to write a story about the life of an IB student? Is it legal to mention CAS, IB, TOK and other parts of the syllabus in a story? I don't want to plagiarise anything or infringe on copyright. I just want to know if I can write a story about the daily experiences of someone in IB and kind of mention parts of the syllabus (e.g. that organic chem test was really hard or do you remember the factors that affect the rate of photosynthesis). Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

So, basically me and my coordinator as well as my principal aren't in the best of terms, i was retaking my IB2 year and they decided that I shouldn't retake any classes and as well as my finals. But I know that I can still retake my subjects. Since they didn't want me to do so they will not accept any Internals from me, even though the deadline the school has has yet not passed. Should I get in touch with the IBO or let it be? Subject in matter: psychology and economics

My subjects are: HL theatre HL Language and Literature HL Social and Cultural Anthropology SL Biology SL Math Studies SL Ab-initio Mandarin Does anyone have any advice/idea about these subjects and how hard/easy they are? Hello! I am in currently in Grade 10 (CBSE), I am looking to transfer to the IBDP next year. I have a few questions so I thought I would ask all of them together. 1. Is the transition from CBSE to IB really hard? I am willing to take on a huge workload but I want to know what to expect. 2. I am looking to get into a medical college in the UK and I wanted to know whether Maths HL is mandatory, I would like to take Biology and Chemistry at HL. Since I am not a very "mathematically inclined" person I wonder whether it would be fine if I took Math at SL? 3. Also if anyone could suggest a suitable subject combination for me that would be highly appreciated. I am…

I am getting to the point now where I have to chose my subjects for the IB. Luckily I already know that I want to be a pilot as it has been a dream ever since I can remember. For this I need Maths, English and Physics. I plan to take: English A HL Psycology HL Maths SL Swedish B SL Physics SL. The problem I am having is whether I take Biology or Economics HL. I am interested in Biology but am not great at memorising and have heard it is hard. I have never taken economics but heard it is easier to get higher points in which I need considering I am going to struggle with physics. Don't really need either but have to choose HELP!
