ACS_Abu_Dhabi
Hi, I was wondering how the final Chem grades are calculated. So I know that the IA is 20% of the grade so does that mean if you get a 7, it will be (7*0.2) I barely got a 7 in my IA (one point away from a 6) and was wondering if that matters at all. Like are all 7s the same or do the individual points matter holistically? Reply
kw0573
For example, an SL student gets 80% (16/20) on IA, 60% (18/30) on P1, 60% (30/50) on P2, and 77.14% (27/35) on P3, the weighted average is 0.2 * 80% + 0.2*60%+0.4*60%+0.2*77.14% = 67.4%, (the respective weightings of the assessments are 20%, 20%, 40%, 20%) which IB rounds to 67 and gets scaled to a 6.
