I may want to study law. Math SL/Math Studies? Will a choice between those affect my options?

Hey. I may want to study law at university later on. If I choose Math Studies instead of Math SL, will this reduce my chances of getting into "better" law schools? If you want to study law, is it better to have a 6 or 7 in math studies, than to have a 4 or 5 in Math SL?

So future IB students, or people who are just crazy to hang around *cough* Elsa, Hien, *Graeme *cough*, what are your Uni plans? Or where are you accepted and attending? Right now, it's the Uni of Auckland. My plans are always perceptible to change though, so I dunno if that will, but maybe to Aussie land then. I need 26 points to enter surprisingly, but that's the minimum.

Jus like the topic description says. Is UK more expensive. Not only the fees but also the living costs. Many people tell me that UK is more expensive but I want to know what you guys think. And I also heard UK does not hand out alot of financial aid for international students. Could anyone please give feedback on this. Thank you

A suggestion ran through my mind the other day, and I wanted to see whether or not other people thought it was a good idea. Our college counselor is collecting predicted grades for my class as I speak, and, as with all other years, none of our teachers will predict anyone a 7. They have openly stated this to our class, saying that they don't want to be responsible for anyone getting a lower grade in the final exams and blaming them. I think this is completely unfair, because every year tons of people in my school get 7's in at least one subject. And I know that I'm capable of getting one at least, if not more. What can we do to get the predicted grades that we reall…

Does anyone know for certain if English A1 HL candidates have to do TOEFL if they want to apply to a UK university? I'm Finnish, but I have gone to an English-speaking school all my life and English is my first language. My school's college counselor knows very little about UK universities because she is coming from the American system. She emailed the universities I'm applying to and explained my situation. 3 universities said I don't have to take the test. 2 never replied, out of the 5 she wrote to. But the counselor thinks I should do it just to be "safe". Which is ridiculous because the TOEFL costs $140 to take. Shouldn't the fact that I'm taking IB English A1 at HL p…

Okay, after looking around some universities in the States and Canada, credits for a specific score HL subjects are really common. However, do you think it's a good idea to accept it or just start all over again? Considering English is not my native language and I've studied English for only 5 years frankly...

I have this experience - I was charged with shop theft and was the 'criminal' in court. I actually did commit the theft but it was due to my emotional instability (family issues, to get attention). I am going to apply for law thru ucas, and should i put this into my ps? what i want to say is that my second time to the court (when i was interned in a law firm during summer, i had the chance to go) is very meaningful to me, because now i am being on the other side, not the criminal side. should i include this? it seems like a crazy idea but it really did influence the way i see court...would the exp itself put me down? (btw, i didnt have any criminal record because …

As all the IB kids only talk about UK and US for universities and generally have little knowledge on what is outside those two country's. I am asking people to contribute with universities known for having good ENGLISH based education. Most IB kids focus on either going to UK/US or their own country, which often has cources in their native language. So I started this topic to invite people to share their knowledge about universities where you can study in english, both bachelor and master (in many country's there seem to be more master cources in english then bachelor) So i just start with some universities i know, and the cources. Prague, Tjeckien - Medicin, they offer m…

NZ/Australia: Jan-Feb America: March-May UK: I have no idea but later than May Im sure If I got accepted into a New Zealand University in Feb, and I accepted the offer. 2 months later an American University also accepted my application, can I still transfer? Hello everyone! I think I'm in a bit of a pickle. I'm about to enter the 12th grade and I'm doing the IB. When choosing my six subjects, as a science I put Physics as a first choice and Chemistry as a second. As a sixth subject, I chose Computer Science, because I am very interested in it and plan to have a career in it. Turns out the Computer Science class was at the same time as the Physics class, so I was assigned to Chemistry. Now that I'm looking at universities, I'm seeing that if I want to study Computer Science it is at engineering campuses/schools where they require you to have taken BOTH chemistry and physics! Am I overlooking something or am I actually screwed!…

Hello! I know there's no set answer for the question I'm asking but I just want to know what the majority thinks. I can't decide whether I should do a BSc Psychology or BSS Psychology at uni, plus I don't even know what exactly is the difference between the two degrees (except that they stand for Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Social Science). I heard that on your CV BSc is better...is this even true?! Though I guess it depends on the company as well. But I'm planning to go into a healthcare related job so...does anyone have any ideas? Thank you!

Hi, I’m a student in Canada and I’m really confused about transcripts, ib marks and GPAs. I hope someone would be kind enough to read all this and help answer some of my questions. Thanks so much! So first of all, I was in pre ib last year and this year in sept I’ll be entering the ib program. Last year i took math 11 and got a 68% (I took math 10 during the summer and got a 98%). I checked my “unofficial” transcript and the gr 11 math mark (68%) is under my grade 11 year (? Im not sure..it’s the “unofficial transcript” online and I don’t really know how transcripts work >>) I talked with my counselor about my math mark and we arranged it so that next year I’…

Hi there, I'm looking forward to applying to some UK univs, anyways I've been reading everything I can and Im ready to apply on september. But I have some questions, does anybody know what happens if for instace the univ offers you a place if you achieve 36 pts on the IB Diploma but at the end of the day you score 35 or 34 even though your predicted grades were calculating the 36 ponits. Will you be automatically rejected from the university? Know of any cases? Also, I read something about just being able to apply to 5 univs with UCAS. Is this true? Hi, So, I live in the United States and I would like to go to a university in the EU (preferably England, Greece, or Cyprus), and I was browsing through some colleges websites. When I was looking at Cambridge's website (I won't get in, but it looks like fun ) some of the requirements were things I had never heard of. Plus I saw this: "Offers are regularly made on the International Baccalaureate, at a level of between 7,6,6 and 7,7,7 in the Higher Level subjects, with overall scores between 38 and 42 points out of 45 . For matriculation purposes, grade 5 or above in the Standard Level of the IB is considered equivalent to GCSE grades A, B or C and grade 5 or above at …

I would like to study in a university in Germany, but I'm not too sure about the distinctions between them. The one uni that really stands out for me is the Universitat Bonn, especially as it runs some English courses for exchange students, but would I be better off moving a bit more to the central part of Germany, such as Berlin? Perhaps some Germans out there can let me know, and I would appreciate it.

Hey (former) IB-student, Did you go to university after your IB education? Or are you planning to go to university in the near future? In that case: Would you be so kind to answer a few questions for me? I’m doing academic research on university choice and you could contribute by answering a few questions. This research is important, because it will help improve the information supply from universities to students worldwide. Answering the questions will only take you a couple of minutes and you would really help me out. Please be as specific and complete as you can: Which sources of information did you use in the process of choosing a university? How did you choose betwe…

I choose to take it not because I can't take diploma but because I wanted the freedom of class choice in certificate. I get good grades, 6 in both my two (certificate only does two) highers and assortment of 5s and 6s in my standards.
