I was wondering if I could "recycle" an IA research question, but make my own investigation. Is it permitted? Should "Company X" change its motivation techniques to increase the productivity of their staff? That was the question I found online, and I wanted to use it, but of course, filling it with the company I´m investigating.

Do IA's get marked more harshly if the subject you're doing it for is HL instead of SL, or is it all the same marking scheme?

Guys, I was thinking of doing my extended essay on Wuthering Heights but so many people did it and it seems extremely unoriginal. How can I twist it around to make it stand out? I was thinking of maybe analysing why Heathcliff has an endouring appeal that still applies nowadays even though he is a terrible person. Why do we still love him? Something like that idk. pleaseeee help me I'm freaking out

Hey there. Im confused whether I should take Physics SL or ESS SL at IB. I know Physics would be the obvious choice for the harder subject, but in terms of scoring which is easy to score. Is Physics SL very Math based as Math definitely is not my forte, and is ESS theoretical or application based subject. I definitely want to know which is better in terms of scoring and also is ESS biology based.

Hi everyone I'm new here and in the IB programme itself, never heard about it before starting it. I have learned a lot about the IB DP from various sources (this website being one of them), but there's still one thing I don't understand - The IB DP subject syllabus. I don't know where to find it? How does it work, is there one fixed syllabus or does it change? How do I know which one is the most recent one? I would really appreciate anyone's help on this matter, since it's the only thing I wasn't able to fully understand... Thank you in advance! If it does any help: I'm a year 1 student and my subjects are: English lit. A (SL) Spanish as a…

Over the past few weeks, it has been extremely difficult for me to manage my coursework, resulting in my grades in certain classes faltering to undesirable levels. Now, it's not a case of coursework being too difficult or even too numerous; I am willing to do it all. Where I believe my real issue is is with distractions, although my somewhat slow work pace may also factor in. In terms of distractions, I could easily put all of the blame on YouTube, but the truth is that I seem to be gifted at finding the most obscure things to search or easily spend several minutes looking into before returning to my assignments... before doing it again for who knows how long. By th…

I have an interesting idea what could help you guys in your CAS projects as well. I have a CAS project on discord server, youtube channel and now a website. In short, my CAS project has QOTD, video series, and talks about the news. I just made the website and this is where I think it could be used for your CAS within my CAS project. In short, I want the website to have articles over philosophy and the news. For the news, it would cover all the sides of the story not just your perspective. For CAS there is the creative part of it so my thinking was you guys and girls could make stories over what you see happening in the world and I would post them to my website CAS project…

I'm doing my 11th grade right now and I've changed syllabus from a national syllabus to the IB. I'm clueless about the expectations, nature of IB and almost everything regarding it. My current school that I've moved into, by itself is new and not very experienced, hence lack in providing the students with clear guidance. The performance of the previous 3 batches was not satisfactory as well. The students in the school are not very willing to provide me with apt guidance as they are very busy themselves. I understand that it is a lot to ask for but I'd be very, very, VERY grateful if someone who's well informed about the IBDP could guide me about it A-Z. I've always been a…

Hello everyone, for the French B written assignment I'm a little bit confused and have got two questions. If we choose a letter does it have to be from our "own" perspective, or can it be from the perspective of a fictional student living in France? Also, does reducing the voting age to 16 come under the umbrella of global issues, it feels like it should...? If anyone could help me out on either of these questions that would be fantastic!

hello everyone, I am currently trying to find a topic to do my summative TOK oral on and i am stuck! I wanted to base it around the concept of beauty and maybe how beauty is changing with the help of technology or something like that! However I feel like these topics are too generic and I wanted to get some advice on some interesting topics from some other people who have completed the IB? Thanks!!

I have been working on this video for a long time. The video is over Mental Health/ Illness. I will be doing a series of videos going more in-depth to certain mental illness in the near future. I believe it's an extremely important topic what needs to be heard more often. We need to break through the fear of talking about Mental illness. It starts with gaining knowledge over mental illness, and that's what I hope to help with my video series. Would appreciate if you guys give it a listen and a Like as it will look better at the end of this school year and give me more motivation to make more.

Hello I'm a math person and I'm in Physics HL course as a Junior IB student. Last week, we had a second unit test and I got an extremely bad grade which is 2. (I got 6 for the 1st unit test) I thought I did it well but there were a lot of misunderstandings. It was bad in particular and there is no explanation for this grade. It was just bad, didn't study enough. From this depression and confusion, I couldn't focus on my Math SL study and I think I did really bad for it even I got 6 for the first Math unit test. I couldn't focus on the test. In fact, I didn't understand some question and I found some mistakes during chatting with my friend about how hard was the test.…

Hello guys, as a topic in Math IA, I chose to explore mathematics behind voting systems. According to my research from various papers, its closely related to probability/statistics, but nothing else. If I won't have Calculus and stuff like logarithm in my IA, does it mean it is a weak IA? If anyone has Math sources on voting, please help me out. Thank you in advance

Hello fellow IB friends! Currently I am taking hl chem, sl french, sl bio and sl math. I have noticed that it is really hard to maintain an healthy social life and IB grades high, most of the people undergoing the second year of IB that have impressive scores do not go out and the only company they have good are our dear books. SOoooo I being open here is the IB always this hard. I'm a year 1 and I'm 2 months into school. So far I am doing terrible in all of my classes except Mandarin SL. Can anyone else relate to the first few months being rough annnnnnndddd how do I get out of this bad grade slump because I've NEVER gotten the kind of grades I'm getting right now, like ever, in my life. It gets better right? Because if yes, how did ya'll do it??

Are you supposed to actually get notes and learn stuff about the points on the right side of the syllabus table for each topic in your subjects? Like can you be tested on these in an exam and are they worth looking into because so far I've just been completely ignoring them and so has my school. You'd think they would be worth spending time on if they are included but nobody ever talks about them. Should I pay attention to these and if so how should I go about utilizing them to get maximum benefit? Thanks :))

Hi guys, PLEASE help me out, I've been struggling with this for the last 1 week. I'm a math SL student who scores 7 in all her tests. But for some reason I'm finding it difficult to choose a nice topic!! I don't want the IA to drop my grade. Do you guys have any ideas on what I could do? Anything other than modelling works for me. I love calculus so that may be ideal. Don't tell me "do what you like" because I actually like everything and my brain has stopped functioning right now. My 1st draft is due in less than 12 hours so any help would be appreciated. Send IA samples, send topics, send help, anything will do :))))) Thanks a lot!!!

So guys it’s been around 2 months since the IB has started and my school is really really bad. I have 2-3 good teachers but the rest are really bad. I have taken PHY, CHEM, and Maths as my HL which I know is a pretty deadly trio, but I want to do it. The problem here arises in MATHS mainly where new topics such as logs, polynomials and stuff wasn’t done in IGCSE so this is new to me in the IB and I need the teacher to teach me this. Also there are 2 people in the class to want to be competitive for some reason and are unwilling to help. The board they did(ICSE) is a board that covered up these topics, so it’s like a revision for them. Rather than keeping quiet they just …
