So I currently take HL Biology HL Economics HL Math SL Chinese B SL English Lit SL Visual Arts Semester reports came out recently and i ended up with a 6 in bio, 7 in Econ, 4 in math, 6 in Chinese, 5 in english, and a 6 in art. I also participate in a crazy amount of after school activities and face a LARGE amount of stress from my math class. As far as college, I plan on applying to highly competitive schools (UC Berkeley, Stanford, UChicago...) I currently have a low 4 in my HL math class and I know it's only going to go down from there. The only thing discouraging me from dropping math' classes is the fact that colleges will see t…

Hey I'm in my last year of MYP and I'm selecting my courses for DP. I am debating whether to take Bio SL or GloPo SL for my last subject. I'll already be taking Chem HL, and I like science and am seriously considering a career in it, but I think that GloPo sounds really interesting and might be fun. People really like one of the Bio teachers (don't know about the other one) and I like the GloPo teacher. I've looked through the topics in both and both interest me but the GloPo ones interested me a little bit more. I've also read a lot more positive things about it than Bio. I know these two courses are really different and it's like comparing apples to oranges, but does an…

Hi I need help deciding between English Lit and Lang & Lit. Is there a big difference in course load? Do Universities prefer one over the other? Which one is easier to get a 6/7 in? Is there a specific set of books in Lit that one has to read and does the teacher pick those or IB sets the list?My English teacher has suggested Lit to me as he feels that Lit has the more serious English students and that keeps the level higher and the discussions more engaging. Thoughts and advice needed.

so I'm in pre-ib and I have no idea what I'm doing and I'm most probably failing, I also have exams coming up and my teacher isn't really helping with the emotional stress right now. she keeps on telling us that we are the most incompetent and idiotic pre-IB class she has ever seen and refuses to give our class average ???? wtf? My school is known for academic excellence and most of the pre-ib kids are either gifted or really smart and me? I sometimes wonder what school error got me in . so to conclude all my whining id like to ask for some general real advice (not stuff like "don't stress" or some) because I am stressing .that will never s t o p

Which subject do you think is easier, English Language & Literature HL or History HL? My other subjects: HL: Math - Economics - English Lang & Lit / History SL: French ab initio - Biology - English Lang & Lit / History I had recently read from a lot of discussions that History HL is considered to be one of the HARDEST subjects of the IB, and with my subject combination already including Math HL (possibly the hardest subject), I am worried about the heavy workload I am going to face next year. The reason why I'm deciding wether I should choose either History or English at HL, it's due to the requirement that I need at least one essay subject HL…

Hey Guys Iam planning to do IB next year and honestly im pathetic at Math, I have been predicted a high C or an low B in IGCSE Math and have been predicted an A in my IGCSE Physics exam. So does the Physics SL curriculum contain a lot of Math as im definitely going to take Math at SL, and considering my previous subpar performance in Math, would it be feasible or manageable to cope up with Physics SL.

ESS IA Issue

Hello, whoever reads this. As of right now, I have a pretty big roadblock on my ESS IA, since only recently I figured out that one of the top 5 examplar IAs is literally the same exact topic I am working on, and it has a similar focus to it as well. I don't want to disclose the topic since its pretty hard to come up with an idea anyway, so I just wanted to ask if someone could clarify whether it is ok for an IA to have the same topic say 'The issue of pollutants in major cities' (or any other example topic you can think of), but have a different approach. Would the IB still count this as an original idea? Or does it fall in plagiarism? It really was annoying finding out …

So I just came up with this fun little game for us IB geeks I don't know if this already exists, but what ever. I will come up with a statement about IB-students, and then the next person will say if they relate or not/agree or disagree, and then come up with a new statement for the next person - and so it goes. So my statement is: "You know you are an IB students when 5 hours of sleep seemed like an amazing night of luxury."

Our teacher told us to make our independent and dependent variables of our research question quantifiable. And so I thought of these as I really want to do titration (Im SL btw) : 1. How does the storage temperature of Sprite affect the concentration of citric acid? ^The problem with this is it even applicable - people usually store their soft drinks either in a fridge or room temperature. So I'm a bit confused and even if it is applicable, I need the intervals of temperature to go up by even intervals. How would I do that? 2. How does concentration of citric acid in Sprite affect the pH? ^The problem here is that it is probably obvious that higher …

As title says I don’t know if I can redo my IA from the past exams, since I presented back in May of 2018. I’ve seen that some people have stated that it is possible to retake both exams and IA, mentioning that is necessary that the student has or is taken classes in the previous school in which he or she was registered for the original exam session, but this contradicts with what my IB coordinator says. Apparently I can only resit the exams, but as you are aware IA have a noticeable impact upon final remarks, therefore I want to increase my opportunities in achieving a good grade in my subjects, maybe some of you have had or heard of similar cases, any help is appreciate…

Hi I was wondering if it is ok to do a math ia topic on the relationship of the dimensions of toilet paper and the amount of times I can fold it in half. I know it is simple but I have to give in a draft soon and I’m not sure what calculations I need or can do other than making a graph with the data results and creating an equation.

I am curious on how and when you should be studying for IB exams? I take HL english, global politics and biology and SL math studies, chemistry and spanish ab initio. I'm not worried about english or global politics that much although tips for studying those subjects would be nice, my weaker subjects are bio, chem and spanish. How would you study for these subjects? Notecards? Memorizing? Rereading again and again? Thank you!

Hello all, So I have found this website, and a lot seem to be using this. So I am here to hear some opinions. I started IB back in August, my courses are as follows: SL: Lang & Lit, French B, and Math. HL: Chem, Physics, and Econ. I took these courses because it is something I love, especially my HL ones, but a lot of people have started to tell me how I will regret taking them. So far I have calculated the scores I would get from all my tests so far and have found out that I would get about a 35 overall (not including the points I could get from TOK and my EE). But everyone keeps telling me how I will have a really hard time and all, they talk about th…

I am considering to remark my exams but would really appreciate your thoughts. Below are the subjects I am considering to send off to remark: English A, Lang Lit HL: I am 4 marks away from a higher grade. PHYSICS HL in ENGLISH: I am 2 marks away from a higher grade. Do you think it's worth it to get any of these remarked??

I am having a hard time figuring out how I can fit IB Environmental science as it is a block course and a third science. I have attached my schedule to this text. The first row is grade 10. The second row is grade 11 and the third row is grade 12. Any help in figuring out what I can do will be highly appreciated. Thank you!

My mother keeps on reiterating to me that I won't have time to do any of the other non-school commitments that I want to do. I take extra art classes and ice hockey classes and want to continue learning the ukulele, but she says I won't have time. From what I've seen on YouTube of people talking about their IB experiences, the first year isn't too bad and the second is the one where it's most intense, which is when I'll plan to drop some things if necessary. Is my mom right?

I've been asking my self why I started to feel Low many times. I always regret for becoming the person I am right now. I think I will not pass the IB. If I don't pass I don't know what I am going to do. I mean if I fail IB my life will be in chaos. Since the day I started IB, I have always felt like drowning into darkness. My mind is not working well. And most of the time I feel like I'm worthless because I don't have anyone to talk to in my life. I mean if I fail I IB no one would care that if I'm existing or not. Most of the time I always get grades between 25-28 and I'm learning to get a scholarship for my University. If I don't get above 31 then I will be ending up …

I have been wanting to change my Courses for a while now. My school said after 2 weeks, you cannot change your topics. We are now 10 weeks into IB1 and I want to switch ESS for Psychology SL which they offer on an online website called Pamoja, My dad emailed my IB coordinator, who is a bit of a pessimist, and she said it would be to difficult to catch up and that the official IB handbook says you can not switch which I know is not true. I am in my 2nd quarter of junior year of IB. Starting from this year, I have been super stressed and literally can not stand it anymore. IOP’s are coming up and all my classes in general are overwhelming me. Is IB worth sticking to? I feel that my health has declined so much, I’ve been super down everyday and family issues are also bad. Would it be too late to drop out to a traditional school or take online classes? How would my credits and grades etc transfer or affect me? Would it be more work to make up missed classes that are required in a traditional school setting?

This is my first community post so... Hello to all you beautiful IB lads/ladies. As the title suggests the clock for my business management HL IA is already ticking and, therefore, I should be getting done with my primary resources quite soon. However, there is one problem... Most of you have probably heard about Angry Birds and the company which produced them: Rovio. My research focuses on Rovio's decision about producing the sequel to the relatively well-known "The Angry Birds Movie". While I managed to get the first primary source from Rovio themselves, getting the second one which is supposed to originate from targeted audience turned out to be much hard…

Hi, I the only group 3 subjects offered at my school (business, econ and psychology) are very difficult for me and not especially interesting. I think that I would greatly benefit by taking another science in adidition to biology and chemistry HL because sciences are my strengths. Preferably I would opt for health science because it is more relevant to my intended field of study (medicine). Would this work if I can find a university course which requires health science, biology and chemsitry or physics, biology and chemistry? So I just started IB this year from august and so far it hasn't been that rigorous at all (I'm sure it will be next year). The problem is that I hate one of my classes (global politics) and I want to change it. So I asked the school " Head of High School College and Careers Counseling" guy and he said he'll try to make a case for it (to change it to psychology). 2 weeks later he comes just with an email saying "The decision was that it is too late to change I'm afraid." with no other explanation. Should I be assertive and try to convince him somehow? Or would that just make me seem rude and too insistent since he said no already? I guess the problem is that it was explici…
