I've started my Math SL IA (finally) after not being able to find a topic for months, whatever I found I either didn't understand, was too simple, or my teacher said there was too little math in it. Currently, I'm working on an IA on the Tower of Hanoi, which happens to also be in an IB sample IA. I'm using the same aim and methods in the sample, but I am planning to cite the sample in my references and use my own words and personal engagement. I told my teacher about the similarity to the sample and she approved my topic, but I'm worried I'm plagiarising and will be penalised f

Hi, I need an urgent help for my math IA. I have the attached graph, for my set of data. I need to find a suitable function for it and I really cannot find correct one. I tried to split the graph to different parts but the teacher said it won't be good. Therefore, if someone knows how to find a function for this graph I would be very thankful. Thank you in advanced :)))

My math IA is due soon and I was going to focus on weight vs. heigh of jump (grande jete) of ballet dancers. iw as going to take my data from famous dancers and analyse the videos in LoggerPro but I realised that I don't know the scale of the video and each dancer is a different distances from the camera. What should I do? Another idea I had was to look at the height vs. flexibility of a dancer and I could collect the data myself by getting dancers I know to do "sit-and-reach" tests. I would then find the minimum, maximum, median, lower and upper quartile, and IQR. Then I would create a scatte

Ok, so I'm not the best at math (I suck) so I don't really know what I want to do for my IA. I wanted to do something related to either probability, geometry or trig. I was thinking of either proving or disproving Doctor Strange's prediction in infinity war that the avengers had 1 in 14,000,065 chances of beating Thanos, but idk if that would work. pls help!

Hi, I want to do my Internal Assessment using more dimensions than 3. However, I don't know exactly what I could/should do. I saw someone solving the "Wolf, goat, cabbage" problem using 3d geometry, and wanted to try to solve the "River crossing puzzle" using the same idea. I believe it would require 6 dimensions, and I would use matrixes to represent it. My teacher said she couldn't predict if it would turn out good or not. I don't know if it's too simple or too complicated. I still really like this topic, and if this is not possible, I would probably do something with a hypercube

I have 2 weeks to submit my math practice IA. I decided to do something with predicting the stock price but I'm not able to figure how to go about it. I did some research and came across the Monte Carlo simulation. But I'm not sure it there is enough math in it because it just some basic statistics and probability. I then came across the Black Scholes model and it seems like there is enough math in it but I'm stuck on how to go about it. We haven't covered a lot of concepts in class yet so can someone give me some direction as to where to start and what I can do?

Hello guys, as a topic in Math IA, I chose to explore mathematics behind voting systems. According to my research from various papers, its closely related to probability/statistics, but nothing else. If I won't have Calculus and stuff like logarithm in my IA, does it mean it is a weak IA? If anyone has Math sources on voting, please help me out. Thank you in advance

Whether there is a correlation between amount of sleep and reaction time? Hello, I would really appreciate it if you could do this mini game on reaction time ( http://www.humanbenchmark.com/tests/reactiontime )and record the 5 different numbers you get. Afterwards, comment those five different numbers with the number of hours you sleep on average every night.it's really important this is for my math studies ia Thankyou!

Any suggestions for mathematics that I can use in order to find out ....the change in something over the next 10-year base on the data? I need suggestions in simple and further mathematics. Thank You

hello i need some opinions regarding my math ia. i decided to investigate about the obedience of the preschool children. and my hypothesis is girls is more obedient compared to boys. but i have a problem of analysing my data as i observe their obedience through the designed activity. it is qualitative data. there are 3 activities and if they obediently done all the activities, they will get 3/3. but if they don't do one activity out of 3, they will get 2/3. i decided to do chi squared test but i think it is not enough for my IA. So, i think that i should change my data into quantitative

Sample Math IA View File My paper was on the coastline paradox using fractal geometry. I mainly used logs and applied some stuff I learned from stats. It was awarded either a 14 or 15/20. I actually requested a remarking by my teacher but she didn't listen and sent it off to IB anyway. She mainly gave me this score because she felt she helped me a ton on mine which she didn't. She threw a book at me and said "read it". Mine is decent, I thought a 16/20 would of been more appropriate for multiple reasons. Submitter

Hii guys, So I'm just about to exceed the 12 page mark for my Math IA and I still have some more things that I would like to add. I was just wondering, is it possible for us to go above the 12 page mark without being penalized? I didn't see any restriction with the page numbers but they suggested 6-12 pages, so please let me know.

Hey guys so I wanna do my math IA based on something to do with logarithms but i have no clue how to make that into something interesting help?

Hey everyone, Okay so we've been asked to get started on our Math IAs and I was quite interested at first to explore the minimum speed required to run on water but there were some complications so now I have decided to do mine on the Schrödinger equation. Could anyone please help me out in deciding which direction to go with this topic? Like, what are the expectations of the math IA and which approach to the aforementioned topic would have a solid mathematical approach?
