Hi! I'm currently in 10th grade and summer break just began. Over the break, I wanted to get a head start in economics, history, math, and chemistry. Would there be any specific website or videos that would help me learn the best? Also could you please suggest which textbook would be best to study which subject?

Hello there, 😕 Also when I find a topic I worry about what maths I am going to use and how to represent them (what to write about, how to write it, what to explore and etc.). I am a person that likes to know the plan first then act. What should I do when I have to decide between two topics because that is the most annoying that can happen to me for all my other IAs. Looking forward to hear from you! Thanks!!

my tok presentation is next week, and I have nearly finished writing the script for it. However, I'm not really sure if it meets the TOK requirements. I feel that much of what I am saying is scenario based, and although I do have research supporting my KQ, claims, SKQ etc, I feel that I'm not using enough TOK language or vocabulary, or have things that would make a good TOK presentation? (if that makes sense) if anyone has any tips on refining your TOK presentation and getting a good grade, please let me know! THanks

Hi! I am a sophomore going to take full IB diploma programme this year. Classes I chose are Math SL, Biology SL, Spanish SL, English lang-lit HL, Economics HL, and Music HL. My school offers study hall, but I chose an elective class which is concert band. (I really love music, and playing instruments) I am going to take concert band only junior year but still worried if it's a right choice. I had course selection a few weeks ago, but I think I can still change courses and ask for study hall. What do you guys think about my choice? Is it better to have study hall or can I still take concert band? Thanks!

I'm almost done with year one of IB and am just about to start summer. I want to use this summer to study wisely but the amount of content is so overwhelming in addition to having to come up with IA plans. My weaknesses include biology, chemistry and math (all mock predictions of 5). I want to boost my grade to 7's but so far I've only been getting, at most, B's and have remained within this range without boosting to the A range no matter how much I try. How can I improve? What can I do within this summer to prepare for senior year and get better? Any tips on studying/experience with your summers? (pls dont tell me to "enjoy" my summer bc I'm literally on the verge of fal…

I am currently in grade 10 and choosing my IB subjects. So far I've chosen - Economics HL - English A lang & Lit HL - German B HL - Math SL - Biology SL - French B/History/Psychology I am interested in doing a business/economics orientated in college and will most likely be applying to a college in the Netherlands or in the UK. I find all 3 subjects very interesting but think that if i would choose history or psychology I would be able to score higher than when choosing French. However it is known to be helpful to know many languages when doing something business orientated. What do you recommend?

My summer holidays will be starting in around a month's time, and i am looking for tips on how to use this summer effectively? Also, I haven't done any IAs yet in my first year of IB (I will have maths, psych and chemistry to do in the second year), so I'm just wondering how I can prepare for this during summer. If anyone also has experience in what IB year 1 is like compared to IB year 2, please let me know! Thank you

I'm doing horrible in math SL, my counsellor came to see me recently and told me it was best to drop to math studies. I only took math SL because I had biology and chemistry but now that I know that I do not want to do sciences in the future (chem kills me and bio is so complex), I know I want nothing to do with sciences or math in the future. I want to do something to do with literature or law or design. Would dropping to math studies be the right choice? Is law or deisgn related to math at all? Current subjects: HL biology, global politics, english SL math, chemistry, spanish ab initio

I am currently doing math SL and I have a weak 3 (IB year 1 term 3) my teacher and the IB coordinator are both telling me to drop to studies. I would honestly love to go there but I want to do finance in UNI. whenever I ask my counselor about it she is somewhat vague and due to my introverted self I just nod and leave. my grades in economics Hl are quite average they do not really rise or fall. always at a strong 5. My question is can I do math studies and still get a good university where I can do finance or should I just continue to miserably fail math SL? I do: English lang&lit HL(5), French B HL(5), Economics HL(6) psychology SL(5), Biology SL(6)…

IB sucks. Free time doesn't exist in the IB. 6 subjects are more than enough especially when they' re not related to your studies e.g ( When someone wants to study engineering, social sciences are waste of time)

Hello all, I am currently looking to subscribe to the IB question bank for exam revision, I submitted my order request on Follet and they said the customer service will contact me via email shortly. However, I've been waiting for several days now and I still haven't received any emails from follet in how to proceed in payments and subcribing to the questionbank. Does anyone here have experience in subscribing to IB questionbank? How long does it take for follet to contact you to proceed with the subscription? My exams are forthcoming and I am hoping to be able to have access to the questionbank as soon as possible. (ps: I know IB documents have questionban…

Next year, I will be joining the IB DP programme and I would like some suggestions. For my DP, I consider myself as leaning heavily on to Physics and Mathematics, therefore the hope of taking HLs for both. Having the HLs, I've always considered taking the other 5 subjects, as milder as possible, so I can focus more of my time on Mathematics and Physics than other subjects. However, the problem I ran into was considering my 6th SL subject, which I thought of keeping as another Group 4 subject. Initially, I thought of Chemistry, but the fact that I am trying to reduce workload, to give time for Maths and Physics, takes that way, as I heard Chemistry Sl, deserves a lot of wo…

Hi! I'm a 10th grader now and will be taking IB from August. The subjects I will be taking are HL Lang&Lit, History, Economics and SL Math, Korean, Chemistry. I know that IB is really hard and there are a lot of contents to learn. So I would like to get a head start over the summer break. How could I study for these subjects? (especially history and economics) Are there specific materials I should use?

I've been writing the section (A,B) in the box that we are supposed to fill in with the question numbers in the answer booklets. I wrote the question numbers on the actual part we should write our answers before I began. I just realised that and I'm panicking right now... Do you think it would be a big problem..? I mean we already wrote what question we are answering to on the cover sheet tho... please save my ass ...

So I’m about to take Paper 3 of Chemistry SL tomorrow and so far I don’t think I’ve done well at ALL. At most, half or less on P1 and P3. I’m pretty sure Im going to end up with a 2. Is that bad? I’m so worried I’m gonna get the diploma... Ive been studying so hard and I understand the basic concepts, but they don’t click to me when they’re presented in complex questions.

SO I have been doing maths SL since the beggining of the year (I'm on grade 11/Year 12). I really want to study Design and Product Design in Uni and was wondering if I need SL for Design/Product Design Courses. The reason I want to drop to Maths Studies is for the simple reason that Art, Design Technology, and Maths SL takes most of the time. This decision is stressing me out as I'm scared Unis would reject my request for my maths studies. I don't think I ever got more than a 4 on maths SL. Any suggestions? My subjects are: Visual Arts (HL) Design technology (HL) Business Management (SL) English B (HL) Spanish Literature A (SL) …

So im in my junior year and my teacher advised me to start thinking of an IA topic early. I thought of observing the colour changes in white flower petals (when mixing food colouring with water) but then i realized thats more of a qualitative experiment. Could anyone help in trying to put a quantitative aspect to it?? I’m generally interested in the topic of plants and water. My teacher also said using a database is good because you usually have direct personal engagement, so that’s another option. Help is appreicated, thank you!

I have 3 long questions.... I REALLY NEED YOUR HELP If I get 14 in my Chemistry SL IA, How well should I do in the exam to get a 7 in Chem???? (I know I should get all 7 in 3 papers, thats not my question. My question is how high should I get within the 7 range) Also, my Econ teacher is not a real econ teacher (sounds weird but its true). She was actually a 4 years Bussiness&Management teacher. But 2 years ago, our real Econ teacher had an incident so he had to go back to his country(England). SO basically, she taught us Econ for 2 years.(ofcourse, she didn't teach anything,, basically it was studying on our own) Because of that, in a econ cla…

So I am finishing year 1 IB and I am doing bad like my last grade was a 29/42 which is **** as I was expecting a 37. So our coordinator said we need to start choosing our Hls and I am a little confused. I like chem a lot but my grades were around 5s and I heard HL is really hard. I like Math but i got a 3.5 last time and i know that Math Hl is a killer. As for Physics Hl i dont really like it but i'de prefer it over English lang & lit because i have been always bad in English. As for Econ my teacher doesn't really teach( legit he just makes me read the book for the whole session and thats it) plus, I dont even like Econ. As for SL i dont think i have the capability t…

Hi! Okay so I know that each year IB releases the conversions for last year and for SL math (and most papers I think) and for the 2017 conversions they had conversions for paper 1, paper 2 and final. What conversions do they actual use to mark your paper? Do they determine your level using the Paper 1 and Paper 2 conversions or the final conversions?

Just in advance, do not discuss the paper 2 content, remember the 24h rule. As it can be seen in a different number of forums, such as reddit, most of the students struggled with the SL math papers. Mostly because the IB changed its pattern of questioning, and wrote some of the questions in a very vague way, thus making students lose significant marks. The difficulty of the papers cannot be compared to the ones from the previous years. Please, consider signing this petition: https://www.change.org/p/richard-penrose-lower-math-sl-tz1-and-tz2-grade-boundaries Thanks!

Hi guys, I am new to IB survival, hearing all these great things about the website, i decided to join. I wanted to ask help on improving my KQ,. My TOK is based on RKS as well. I am reading an RLS based on Kosher phones and how they have been accepted by religious people (ultra-orthodox). The KQ is have generated is: how does RKS influence one's understanding of knowledge Based on the given RLS, do you think that this is a good KQ or is there any way to further improve it. Thanks :)

Hey! So I have a problem. Every year, my school selects two students to win a really prestigious award. The winners are chosen through their participation in their community as well as at school. I have okay grades, so that's not a problem (as that's also a factor to winning the award) but like, my sister won the award two years ago and so like, the pressure is on for me. My graduating class has so many amazing "contestants"... what should I do that will really make me pop out? I'm a co-chair of a club at my school and next year, I'll be the "president" of that club, I was on the students council at my school last year but not this year as I lost the election,…

I’m trying to decide the subjects to pick for my IB studies next year. Biology and chemistry hl have already been decided as I’m trying to get into medicine. My current placeholder of a choice is studying psychology hl, maths sl, and language A lang and lit, and ab initio Arabic (on top of bio and chem hl). I honestly don’t know if it’s a good idea to study three sciences (yes, I’m counting psychology) at hl! I didn’t get to study psychology during my middle years as my school didn’t offer the subject, but I’m really interested in the subject. Am I setting myself up for misery and anxiety ridden nights before and after the exams or is the combination that I’ve currently c…

I am an IB student nearing the end of my 11th year. I am very passionate about language so I am taking HL German next year, and my Extended Essay is also being written in German. However, because of circumstances outside of my control, my family has to move this summer. My new school is going to have IB program but doesn't carry German classes. My counselor tells me that it is too late to switch me to SL German this year and so I cannot get any credit for that class, and she says I apparently don't have enough years of Spanish to take SL Spanish next year (since I only took Introductory Spanish in 7th grade). My counselor says I should just drop out of IB because its impo…

I'm doing an English EE on the use of colour to create a complex relationship between Death and Humanity in the Book Thief only to know that it's been done countless times! Additionally, there are exemplars online for this and makes me feel really guilty and also limited in how I research because it would seem like I am copying but I am not! I firstly started with poetry by William Blake for me EE but my EE supervisor said that it is too short and she and I concentrated on War Literature. I then looked at Night by Ellie Wiesel and another war novel, but she said that it was too hard. Through her recommendation, I chose to do the Book Thief, an…

Hi all, I just wanted to know how difficult it's going to be for me to study and succeed in IB. I'm currently studying in grade 10 and I'll most probably start studying according to IB's curriculum next year. I'm currently studying the Holt McDougal Modern Chemistry, English Literature/writing, Biology, and Phyiscs. The McGraw Hill Algebra 2 on top of social studies, Farsi literature/writing and Arabic. I find all of the subjects I'm studying relatively easy (except Farsi. Even though it's my mother language), and I aced all of my finals last term. But I'm kinda stressed to be studying IB as I have no idea about the difficulty level. The hl subjects that …
