Hey Guys! I have a bit of an issue now; both my Spanish ab inito teacher and my anthropology teacher for IB have left my school and as my school is in Bosnia-Herzegovina, it is really hard for the school to find replacements which probably means for at least the next semester, I won't have teachers for those subjects. This means I will fall behind completely; Spanish ab initio I already find hard because I don't have clear notes and anthropology is so vague and ambiguous and our last teacher had no experience in the IB thus does anyone have any notes or anything that could help me or my class mates from dying a slow death??? Thank You!!!

Hey, ...You want to hear from an IB alumnus... ...and I just got my diploma (May 2018)... ...I think that we can do simbiosis and be friends! Contact me and we can communicate the way you want (phone, video chat, text messages...) I want to practice my English (advanced), mon Français (upper intermediate) und mein Deutsch (pre-intermediate) speaking skills... I already speak fluently (not so fluently in German) and won't confuse you. I WON'T ASK FOR MONEY OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT, I PROMISE. A bit about IB and me: -I did the IB as a little complement to the Spanish homologue studies (and a lot of more things). Hence, my marks are not at the…

Hello everyone! I'm an IB coordinator and teacher, and I'd like to better understand the writing habits and techniques of students who are or have been successful in the IB DP. As an experienced professional in the IB DP, I do have my opinions on the matter, but I'd like to hear from students. If you'd like, please respond by answering honestly the following questions. Thanks! What was your overall score in the IB? Please describe your workflow (research, writing, rewriting, etc.) for the many IB writing tasks. Please describe one or more successful writing techniques (paragraph structure, analytical structures, etc.) that you liked to use and produce…

Hi !! I´m about to start the IB Diploma Programme soon, and I´d like to be prepared. The courses that I would be taking are Swedish A SL, English B HL, Psychology HL, Bussiness and Management HL, Math Studies HL, ESS SL. It would be helpful if you could provide me with some resources, like IB youtube teachers for the Bussiness, Math, Psychology, and ESS, maybe some tips. It would seriously help me out, as I'm about to die from anxiety because everybody says IB is hell, and I just want to be prepared i guess . // Marcelina

So I am planning to be taking a veterinary course in the future, which means that I will need to take at least HL Bio and SL Chem. The subjects I have chose to do so far are HL Biology, HL Geography, HL Literature, SL Chemistry, SL Japanese and SL Maths. The reason I am worried is because the entry requirements for courses similar to veterinary sciences (from the universities that I am interested in) don't need HL English. This means that I could possibly just change to SL Lit and HL Chem. My question is, is 2 HL sciences too hard? Should I just stick to SL Chem and HL Bio or change to HL Bio and HL Chem, moving my English course from HL to SL. I feel like doing HL …

Hi! I'm starting the DP in a few weeks, and made the lazy mistake of picking my courses without giving it much thought, not realizing how important it was. Currently the subjects I'm taking are: History HL, Biology HL, English language and literature HL Visual arts SL, Danish literature A SL, Maths studies So because I tend to overthink, I've started to worry that these courses aren't "competetive" enough. At IGCSE I was quite a competent student (but we'll see how the DP knocks that out of me :/ ) so I will (hopefully) be aiming for a pretty good university. I've been looking into doing something like history, english literature, or international r…

Hello, everyone! I'm planning on taking Math, Chemistry, and Physics for my HL courses, but I feel a bit lost as to what I want to pursue as a career after university and such. Out of the three subjects, I'm very interested in math (more so than the other two subjects), so at some point, I considered being a math teacher when I'm older, but other people have also suggested that engineering could also be a reasonable choice for me. There are so many types of engineering though, and I don't really know the difference between them. I don't know what I should be doing. So, I just wanted to ask which careers the combination of math/chemistry/physics HL would be usefu…

Note: none of the subjects are fixed, I may change them later Group 1: English A SL Group 2: German or French ab initio SL (which one should I take up?) Group 3: History SL Group 4: Physics HL Group 5: Maths HL Group 6: Computer science HL or Chemistry HL (which one should I take up??) What I’ll be studying in university/undergrad: Computer science OR Computer engineering. Please advice me on my subjects, and what I can do to prepare myself in the month before I start IB. Thanks.

So I got a level 5 on my sl chem exam, with a mark or 86%. I retaking grade 12 chem in summer school to bump up into the 90%s. Do American universities (specifically California, like UCLA) care if I retake the course. Will the accept the higher mark. CAUSE I READ SOMETHING ONLINE... and they said they don’t accept the retaken mark if it’s already higher than a C for a-g courses. WHAT DO THEY MEAN BY a-g courses??? (UCLA website image below) I’m confused if I should drop the summer school course and keep my current mark or bump it up if it benefits me. btw... I don’t live in America, so will that also affect the outlook on retakes a course during…

I'm not full I.B, but I.B English is killing me. The ever heightening mountain of work makes me feel like I'm suffocating. Plus my personal life makes things rough, too. My mom has cancer, my childhood friend died the summer before my junior year, and I feel like I'm falling apart. Most of my friends have either had to leave I.B because of the horrible strain it has caused them, or are just as stressed as me. This program makes me miserable but I can't quit. Sometimes I wish I could just die in my sleep so I won't have to deal with the stress anymore. I can't even get a job to try and save up for college because of the workload and Theatre. I just want a little less on my…

I wanna do space as my career( what in space I will have to research shortly) and I will be taking physics, chem/Cs (or both), maths hl and French and English sl. my question here is should I be taking economics or business management in my IBDP?. I have previously done economics and I’m pretty good at it. Moreover, I wanted to know which out of these I must take to pursue space as my career. Good afternoon dear IB survivors. Recently I began asking myself questions: "Can you find a qualified job after IB without university education?" and "What is the level of education IB Diploma is? Is Baccalaureate considered a bachelor at least partly?". These are really confusing questions to me and this needs to be discussed. There can be a situation in life where it is not possible to enter university you planned to apply to or where you just need to take a gap year. Is it possible to find a job having just IB Diploma? IB is considered to be at higher stage than more common High School Diploma, then how higher is it and is it enough for a qualified job?

Hi I just got my IB grades and it is really ****ed up. I got 11 points on my HL's, which means I am not passing. The problem is the marks I am missing in my HL subjects to reach the next grade boundaries are a lot, 8 marks minimum. So, I am wondering what is the maximum marks someone has gone up by? Because 8 or 9 marks more sounds kind off unrealistic.

Hi, I got 32/34 in my EE, but I'M NOT GOING TO STUDY ABROAD and my IB score is not that high (36). However, my EE is closely related to my university studies. My question is: does that 32/34 really matter, or only the A? (Because lots of people get an A, so...) Is there any place where I can get any investigation summer course or something? Present my EE to any contest? Perhaps something in the future? Thank you guys!

I got my ib results today and I am thinking of remarking my DT SL and maths SL papers. DT SL: 5 marks away from a 7, is this difficult to change? maths SL: 1 mark away from a 7, is maths too subjective for remarking? Personally I would really like to see my marks go up as I have spent so much time and effort, but I am a bit confused about whether I should remark them or not. As far as I'm concerned, this word essentially means to take another's work and say that you did the work, e.g. you stole Mona Lisa and say you painted it yesterday What happens if you put your work into public domain, or license it under CC? (So you don't own your work anymore) What if you save your browsing history when you are writing your essay and bulk-cite them? What if you put everything you need into works cited but not footnotes or intext citations? P.S. I'm currently in the last year of Pre-IB. Edit: I have an essay due recently. My teacher is going to use turnitin. Plagiarism won't matter too much yet because I'm in Pre-IB, right? Edit: In the situa…

I am planning on how to organise my time over summer, and I will be trying to complete my psychology and maths IA, along with my Extended Essay draft as well. Aside from this, I want to allocate some time for studying, as I feel that I need to revise for all my subjects, however I feel that this would be quite difficult to do so as I don't think I will be able to properly revise for all 6 of my subjects. Does anyone have any tips on studying over summer in preparation for the second year of IB? thank you.

Hi guys. Currently I'm doing year 1 of IB. However, for some personal reasons, I'm moving to another country and the new school requires me to retake year 1 IB. So my questions are: • Is it normal to to retake one year of IB? Because I saw some people changed school and some of them had to retake half year only. I don't mind doing one more year of IB btw. • If I retake one year of IB, is there any case that it would affect my university application? For example the university doesn't accept me because I retook year 1 of IB. (I would like to study university in Singapore). • Is there anything I should know or notice before I apply to the new IB school? (Old year 1…

Hello there, 😕 Also when I find a topic I worry about what maths I am going to use and how to represent them (what to write about, how to write it, what to explore and etc.). I am a person that likes to know the plan first then act. What should I do when I have to decide between two topics because that is the most annoying that can happen to me for all my other IAs. Looking forward to hear from you! Thanks!!

my tok presentation is next week, and I have nearly finished writing the script for it. However, I'm not really sure if it meets the TOK requirements. Hi! I am a sophomore going to take full IB diploma programme this year. Classes I chose are Math SL, Biology SL, Spanish SL, English lang-lit HL, Economics HL, and Music HL. My school offers study hall, but I chose an elective class which is concert band. (I really love music, and playing instruments) I am going to take concert band only junior year but still worried if it's a right choice. I had course selection a few weeks ago, but I think I can still change courses and ask for study hall. What do you guys think about my choice? Is it better to have study hall or can I still take concert band? Thanks!

I'm almost done with year one of IB and am just about to start summer. I am currently in grade 10 and choosing my IB subjects. So far I've chosen - Economics HL - English A lang & Lit HL - German B HL - Math SL - Biology SL - French B/History/Psychology I am interested in doing a business/economics orientated in college and will most likely be applying to a college in the Netherlands or in the UK. I find all 3 subjects very interesting but think that if i would choose history or psychology I would be able to score higher than when choosing French. However it is known to be helpful to know many languages when doing something business orientated. What do you recommend?
