My History Internal assessment is due in 9 days and I have about 550 words. So far so good, EXCEPT NOT. I feel like my topic is WAY to broad, those 550 words are my summary of evidence. THAT'S IT. So I was wondering does anybody know how I could improve my topic? My topic is: What were the differences of treatment in the United States and South Africa? Crap right? lol My teacher wrote : what do you mean with treatment here? Maybe better: How did human rights violation differ from America to South Africa? Or if you want to focus on how separation was implemented in the society and comparing South Africa and the United States. Or: The reason for segregation in South Afric…

Hey, I'm doing my History EE about appeasement and its role in the outbreak of the Second World War. I've been trying to look for different (UK) newspaper archives, I know The Times has a good online archive, but I can't seem to find other proper ones... And also my knowledge of UK newspapers is quite limited, can you help?

The first draft of my IA question is due Friday, and I really don't know where to begin. I know I want to focus on pre-Civil War America, and the whole dynamic concerning Jefferson and Hamilton is pretty interesting to me, but I'm lost beyond that. We weren't given much direction in how to even formulate a question, so any suggestions and advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

I am currently pre-planning my HL US History Historical Investigation. I've considered a plethora of topics, and have examined several different questions that I could formulate from said topics. I narrowed my choices down, and have most recently decided upon writing about the effects of the development of foreign policies in the United States. My original research question read as follows: "How have the development of foreign policies in the United States affected it's relations with foreign countries?". But for some reason, I can't help but feel like the question is far too broad to write an essay consisting of only 2,000 words. So my question is: how do I go about maki…

My research question is: To what extent are American eugenicists to blame for the effects of the German eugenics movement? I really like the topic. What do you think? Do you have any information regarding this? Sources about eugenics in history are incredibly hard to find, believe it or not. I'm still waiting on a couple books to come in from my library, and my first submission is due next Thursday. Meh.

So.... this was question we were asked to discuss in class..(I am a pre-IBer).. what i have with so far is that : The USA wanted to confront communism (indirectly combat USSR). Doing this invited the USSR in this civil war which later became part of the cold war The Truman Doctrine - The USA helping countries that were being subjugated / oppressed by communism. There is nothing apart from those two that I can think of. If this thread has already been started somewhere else, accept my apologies. Thank you in advance!

Well it's actually due today since it's after midnight... I'm doing my history IA (in 11th Grade) on the atomic bomb with the question: What role did the battles of Iwo Jima and Okinawa play in Truman’s decision to drop the atomic bomb? I'm only having trouble with the "Evaluation of Sources" and OPVL (origin, purpose, value, limitation) is killing me. My two main sources are books! very interesting read, but now I have to suffer because My teacher wants me find background information on these random authors: Dennis D. Wainstock and Robert P. Newman. How am I supposed to know whether they had access to military records when there's not even…

So i go to a French school so apologies about any poor translations, and or grammar and syntax errors in my sentences. But I'd prefer if this didnt become a grammar thread. Anyways in history were doing something called a "recherche historique" i couldnt find any translation that made sense. So ill describe it. You do research and write a project divided into many part, theres Part A, B, C, D. Hope that makes something ring a bell. Oh and this is strictly IB graded. On 25 if memory serves. Anyways. what i need help with is developing my subject, i made a stupid mistake of taking what i thought would be an easy project, it probably is, but im looking at it wrong. My subje…

Hi I have some questions concerning Weimar Repulic, I hope you will help me:) 1) Why Germany became Republic after WW1?? Was it because it was thought ( Wilson) that peace can be only attained through democracy?? Who proclaimed Weimar Republic actually a Republic? 2) What does it mean that parliamentary system was based on proportional reperesntation?? I think it has something to do with the fact that there were so many different parties in the Reichstag?? 3) and what follows that is coalition government - the next term I dont fully understand. I think that coalition government is that all these parties in the Reichstag had to work together? Am I right? please help!

As you all know, (or should know) the History Paper 2 has 5 questions per topic and you choose to write two essays, from 2 different topics. the HL paper 3 has 5 questions per topic and you have to answer 3 questions from different topics. How are you approaching studying this? I started just studying everything (Paper 2 & 3) but it seems like an overwhelming amount of names, dates, places, statistics and concepts to remember!

So my school decided to be different and selected to do the history route 1 course covering Islam and European history from around 500-1500 CE instead of the Americas. Unfortunately however, this course was developed like just two years ago and so the specimen papers from previous exams with which i want to use to practice with are basically nonexistant. Did anyone else take this route? Do you have any pointers/tips for papers 1 & 2? ie. format, what to do and not to do on exam day, and most importantly what to study. ne help would greatly be appreciated

Hey, Does anyone know where I can find a model level 7 HL history essay (preferably on the French Revolution/Napoleon!) or have one they can send to me or post on here? I NEED to get a level 7 in my history mock for my predicted grade, I've been getting level 5s the whole year and I don't know how to improve my essays to make them level 7 worth. Also, if anyone knows where I can find out about different historical interpretaions/historiography of the the French Revolution/Napoleon (or tell me some), I would be so grateful. I've read books, but can never seem to find that the historian has a certain slant on the topic. Please help!!!

Hi, So I am trying to get this done and I have less than a week to write my "practice" historical investigation. I just came up with a topic and was wondering what you thought about it. My topic is "Was the bombing of Nagaskai necessary in order to recieve an unconditional surrender from Japan during the end of World War II?". I have been urged to narrow my topic down and that the best that I can do. Is this topic still too broad? Would this topic work? I have found information from two sources for this topic. Thanks

My professor has not taught us about the American Revolution and all that stuff, we focused on Latin America as preparation for paper 3. I however, have a decent amount of knowledge in early United states history as I took the US history SAT and got a 650. What should I focus on regarding Latin America for essay writing, and US history? Also, on the world history section I could use help on what should I focus on the World Wars, Political systems, Cold War (until detente), what topics you find easier, what are you going to pick for your examination and why . This would mean a lot to me as I've dedicated this whole week to prepare myself somewhat adequately for the Exam.

Hi! I just want to know what textbooks do you use for IB History, that is a very broad subject that requires different resources. I already finished the IB Diploma and I used: *Mastering Modern World History by Norman Lowe (Palgrave Master Series) *History: The Cold War by Keely Rogers & Jo Thomas (Pearson Baccalaureate) Both textbooks are great help, but I wish the other pearson´s were out while I was in IB.

I have a question. My teacher last year made us memorize sources for our Paper III practices (which basically were that she gave us the question and we prepared for it '). However, for our REAL Paper III, since we don't know what the question will be on, do we have to memorize sources for points? I simply thought it was facts, analysis, and historiography.
