Hi, I like the look of title 3, but I'm not too sure how to go about it. I was first considering to discuss how emotion can influence our reasoning and relate it to the arts where it can influence our interpretation of a piece. Then give a counter example with mathematics, saying that there is (usually) only one solution in mathematics and so there it can not affect our reasoning but perhaps it can influence our interpretation of the result. Would I need to address how emotion works and whether it works well and how reason works? My initial approach is to just see how emotion influences reasoning in two AOKs but I'm not too sure if that actually address the question. Does…

Hi guys, I am currently working on my TOK presentation and I really need your help. My knowledge issue or now called knowledge question is: PREJUDICE OFTEN CLOUDS OUR JUDGEMENT, TO WHAT EXTENT DOES RACISM AFFECT OUR EMOTION AND REASON? Is this a good knowledge question? Also I wanted to ask about the structure. I would you two real life situation such as the recent Ferguson shooting and one other situation, where prejudice has negatively affected actions of an individual. Do you think that this is a good start? I would really appreciate your opinion on this and a possible feedback. Thanks

If there is a discussion on topic 4 then oops sorry My AOKS are Natural sciences and Ethics WOK are Emotion and reason. What do you guys think about this topic?

Hello, so I'm new to this curriculum and my teacher hasn't exactly informed us about what a good presentation topic is like. I have read a bunch of the links about making one - but I'm not exactly sure if my topic is legit. 1. To what extent can physical beauty be defined? 2. To what extent has language inflicted different stereotypes among different cultures? 3. To what extent has technology caused harm towards the society?

I did no 3, knowledge is nothing more than the systematic organisation of facts, got an A, surprisingly (lol ok maybe not surprisingly, my teacher said it was good but i heard its hard to get an A for TOK and stuff, bla3, so yeah didnt have that high hopes for bonus points). Such a serendipity. Or maybe, is there any statistics about how many people got an A in TOK for which question, for this year? :3

I'm working on the TOK title paper, and I wanted to see what others think of this title. Title #3: "The possession of knowledge carries an ethical responsibility." Evaluate this claim. No one in my class is doing this title and I need some help. I want to affirm the claim, and say that knowing something carries a responsibility to act to either prevent harm, uphold principles of integrity (in a case of lying or cheating), and/or to spread wellness. I have a definition in mind for ethical responsibility, but not for "Possession of knowledge" yet. I want to take this in the direction of Ethics and Human Sciences. With a focus in emotion and reason. Any help?

Every single piece of information that we acquire has some impact on how we will behave and react. Through acquiring information (description) the world is changed. How can you argue with this?? Trying to find counterpoints to my essay but I can't because its impossible to describe the world and not transform it.

Question: How are ethics involved in the study of Human Sciences? How do these affect our ability to move forward in our knowledge of human behaviour? Our last task for this semester, this involves Human Sciences and ethics, however I need help with the last part of the question which is "How do these affect our ability to move forward in our knowledge of human behaviour"? What does that suppose to mean? All help, guidance or advice will be appreciated, thank you!

Hi. I'm doing an outline of my TOK presentation and I'm facing some problems. I would greatly appreciate if anybody could answer my questions. I have already chosen one real life situation which I find very interesting and complex enough to take 10-15 minutes of speech. I don't really think I will be able to find a RLS which is as complex and interesting and deals with the same Knowledge Issue. In fact, I have been searching for a while and this is the only one I've got. Due to this I was wondering whether it's possible to discuss only one real life situation. Will I get a very bad mark if I discuss only one real life situation but thoroughly? Is it even possible…

So I'm undecided on whether I should do my presentation alone or with my friend. Basically I wanted to do something on the Kitty Genovese Case and the Bystander Effect (if you don't know what it is, the rough explanation is that it's a psychological concept based on a murder where around 20-30 people heard it happening but nobody called the police because they all thought someone else would)- it's something I'm very interested in and have been for years, but have never had the opportunity to research into it further. I pitched the idea to my friend, and she said it seemed interesting but I can definitely tell she's not as into it as I am and would just kind of end up doin…

I have my ToK presentation coming up soon and I have done about 80% of the powerpoint already, however I need help and advice to polish over it. So I'm just going to talk about the structure of my presentation and where I think it needs improvement. Firstly I'm going to start with my real life situation, Edward Snowden and the NSA scandal; give a brief overview then say from that i extrapolated my knowledge issue, 'how can mass media affect an aspect of our society'. So my first question is, is what my structure so far alright? If not how should I improve? Secondly is that a appropriate title or too broad? Then I talked about what methods of WoK and AoK I will be usin…

Hi guys I need help. The question for my TOK essay is "We may agree about general standards in the arts but dissagree as to whether a particular work has artistic merit. In ethics the situation is reversed: we may disagree about ethical theories but we all know an unethical action when we see one. Discuss." I really dont know how to develop it. I know I will separate the body in two paragraphs. One for arts (argument + counterargument) and another one for ethics (argument + counterargument). Hello I'm doing my tok essay on: “The task of history is the discovering of the constant and universal principles of human nature.” To what extent are history and one other area of knowledge successful in this task? The quotation essentially implies (as I see it) that the job of history and human sciences (my selected AOK) is to find qualities that are present in all human beings. But, I'm confused with how to go about the topic in an essay format -- should I choose a couple of human nature characteristics like 'lust for power' and 'survival instincts' and just focus on how these are discovered by human nature and history... or should I have lots of different examples…

The prescribed title is: "I believe in everything until it's disproved. So I believe in fairies, the myths, dragons. It all exists, even if it's in your mind. Who's to say that dreams and nightmares aren't as real as the here and now?" - John Lennon Can you give me any ideas to come up with a good knowledge question for this quote? Also, can you suggest a way of knowing I can evaluate or any of these AOKs (natural science, ethics, or religion)? Should it have the knowledge question I'm trying to raise? What AOKs and/or WOKs does the concept of "truth" deal with?

Hello! My ToK presentation is due next week and I have identified the real-life situation and the knowledge issue: - To what extent is the control and manipulation of knowledge by governments justifiable With this I am aiming to involve both historical and contemporary situations, propaganda and censorship are two possible aspects related to this. I am new to this and thus I have my doubts: Is this knowledge issue a ''real/efficient/suitable'' one and are the aspects I have mentioned relevant enough? If not, how can I improve these? Thank you.

Hi guys, My ToK presentation is due in a few days and I am still stuck with it. My topic is about the territorial dispute between China and Vietnam for South China Sea. I am doing a practice TOK essay on the topic: “The vocabulary we have does more than communicate our knowledge; it shapes what we can know”. Evaluate this claim with reference to different areas of knowledge. The title says that I have to refer to different areas of knowledge (at least two, I'm assuming). I already have some good information for human sciences. My problem is that I can't think of claims/evidence/examples for any of the other areas of knowledge.
