Ratted19
I am an IB student nearing the end of my 11th year. I am very passionate about language so I am taking HL German next year, and my Extended Essay is also being written in German. However, because of circumstances outside of my control, my family has to move this summer. My new school is going to have IB program but doesn't carry German classes. My counselor tells me that it is too late to switch me to SL German this year and so I cannot get any credit for that class, and she says I apparently don't have enough years of Spanish to take SL Spanish next year (since I only took Introductory Spanish in 7th grade). My counselor says I should just drop out of IB because its impossible to get my language credit. Is there anything I can do, or is that really the only option? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you in advance. Reply
IB_taking_over
You're in the states right? If so, a good number of colleges offer intensive summer language programs/classes. (Meaning they cover a year's worth of stuff in roughly 8 weeks.) You might be able to learn Spanish over the summer in order to be able to do SL in the fall at your new school.
