Vanderlyle
I find that studying a book in english class generally saps the joy from it. For example: My class only studied the first part of Great Expectations. I could hardly stand it. Then, on my own time and without the actual need to I finished it and enjoyed the rest of the book. Though Such a Long Journey was painful. It was just that: such a long journey. Reply
lexiemonet
Even thought it was the summer reading for sophmore year (Pre-IB), the worst book I've ever had to read was The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway. But I'm scared so many people disliked Things Fall Apart, that's currently what I'm reading, but I find it hard to get interested in. TurtleR
The books I have hated wereHeart of DarknessMadame BovaryHeat and DustLike Water for ChocolateI don't know why, I just couldn't stand those books. Although, to be honest, I gave up on three of them and just used the sparknotes for them instead. Like Water For Chocolate was an easy read, but just so lame. jess1ca
I didn't really enjoy any of the novels we studied so far... I mean they were ok but they didn't turn into my favourite books or anything. The book I really did not like was Ethan Frome. Reply

hehe101
Tin Flute by Gabrielle Roy. Was good for the first two chapters than the book just went completely downhill. The protagonist is just so pathetic and annoying, god I wanted to shoot her brains out. Reply

JoeZell
I absolutely despised reading Jane Eyre. It was the bane of my life and I hated every second of it. Though that was in Year 11.In my English class, everyone but me hates 1984. Reply
Buckeye Lover
Invisible Man, simply because the narrator frustrates me. I appreciate it more now that I have re-read it, but at the time that we were forced to read it for year I, I detested it. Reply
