faith
Is it just me or does the mark boundary for HL vary greatly depending on the year? The mark required to get a 7 in paper 1/2 seems to fluctuate between around 75/120 to 90/120... It's A LOT of difference. Reply
Mahuta ♥
It is, and I know why you're saying this.Do not let this affect you during the exam. Your IB exams started, this is the time you have been preparing for during the past two years. Please, please do not do this to yourself by looking up grade boundries. Many people have made this mistake and it did not end well, during the exam, instead of thinking about doing their best in the exam, they'll be thinking about the grade boundariesI do not want any of you messing up your exams or going blank while sitting it, especially Math. It's a feeling you do not want to imagine. I am sure you are capable of doing this, you prepared well, you studied that's all you need to think about! Not sure if you have already sat the exam, if that's the case, then look: Once you finish a subject, it's over! Throw it behind you and look forward to the next exam. If you haven't done it already, then just do past papers for the time you have left and do not worry yourself. You are going to do good!Off topic I know, but it was too tempting. Reply

I made decent attempts at most parts of all the questions so I guess I'll be fine as long as I didn't make too many stupid mistakes. I hope the mark boundaries will be decent. =)8 more papers to go! saunders is god
I've always wanted to know, if everyone fails the paper, does that mean the grade boundaries would be lower, or are the boundaries developed independently, regardless of how well or how bad students do???? sid1729
Doesn't it also depend on which timezone you are? .. Reply
fan
thanks sid1729 what you mean it depends on which time zone you are? Reply
sid1729
Hey,Well the IB divides the examination into different area's ... for example China And India would be the east Asian time zone and american and Australia would be under 1 time zone etc.So each of these time zones have different grade boundaries. Our teacher told us... its more difficult for us ( Indians) to get a 7 in Math HL then fellow IB students giving it in Europe or USA. Reply

Our teacher told us... its more difficult for us ( Indians) to get a 7 in Math HL then fellow IB students giving it in Europe or USA.This is incorrect. IB has 3 examination sets each year May TZ1May TZ2 November TZX ( In November these is only one session hence 1 timezone only ) Hence if you are in india you would be placed into either May TZ1 or TZ2. Europe is in one timezone and America is in the other may timezone. My Chemistry teacher who is Chief Examiner for May Examinations said that in general the European papers are harder than the Americans due to greater competition the exams need to be more difficult to differentiate students. But again they do fluctuate from year to year Edited February 1, 2011 by wazii 1 Reply

Salve
does that mean the scoring of a 4 went down by one point. bec if it did i am happy . better chance to get a 4. 20th cent hist was my first ib exam in year one. so i was so nervous taking it. paper 1 was good but i could of done better. paper 2 worries me with its two essays. well i'll try to relax. uh recycling is on my mind. people do not recycling. plastic only become little pieces and just kills the sea creatures. it becomes part of our diet eventually. so people recycling. at my school this year we started recycling plastics. it is great. not really. people are so rude even behind my back. i am so into this topic because a did a op on it. tok. so people please take a pledge to recycling at least at school. i was already really silly to pinky swear it to one of my friends. so everyone you are smart and even smarter if you recycle( not a proven fact and do not quote me). ok and recycle. earth is saying recycling or else people will die. it probably will not be in my lifetime but just recycling and not have to worry. bec i am so stressed with ib . that people not recycling is getting to be annoyance and a thing in must watch. well schools almost over so got to make a better plan for the Eco Club at my school. which i really want to be the president. yah anyways recycling is so important. if you can't then it is ok but recycling at school when possible. i already forgot what was post is on oh i just looked up on what is ok. well then anyways i was wondering how to watch certain threads. i am new to ibsurvival still. it is helpful thought. thanks so much ib survival for being there when i am down.
