Arista
At our school, different instructors teach the same subject throughout the day during different periods or time blocks.I go to a public school, so if a class doesn't have enough students enrolled in it then it gets cut because of money problems. Our state is ranked very low/high/badly in class size (around 24 students in a given classroom), and our school is also overcrowded.I would love love love! to have very small class sizes and more individualized instructional time. Graduating class: ~455Full-IB diploma candidates: 93 Certificate candidates: ~20 (most of them started as diplomas and then dropped history in the middle of the year, lol)All numbers are estimates, based on average class sizes at our school.English A1 HL and History HL are mandatory for diplomas.English A1 HL: almost all diploma/certificatesSpanish: 120(students choose to test SL/HL 4th+ year of Spanish; classes mixed with non-IB/pre-IB students)French: ? less popular than Spanish(students choose to test SL/HL 4th+ year of French)Chinese ab initio: ? less popular than FrenchHistory of the Americas HL: 100Biology: 95(two-year course; students choose to test SL/HL in 2nd year; very few non-IB students)Chemistry: 120(two-year course; students choose to test SL/HL in 2nd year)Physics: ? less popular than Biology/Chemistry(two-year course; students choose to test SL/HL in 2nd year)Math studies: like 5(Math studies students are mixed with regular students in normal classes)Mathematics SL: almost all diplomasPsychology SL: 50Music: 10(one-year course that can be taken twice; students choose to test SL/HL in 1st/2nd year; only 1 class)Errr... I hope that made sense. Reply

godofib
wow, some of the classes are so small. In my school, we have about 20-25 people in each class. In a way it is good, we as IBers in our school do not feel marginalized since there are so many of us. Edited July 13, 2009 by godofib Reply
The Economist
The average class at my school has 11 students.I would totally prefer to have 5-7 students, but 11 isn't that bad at all. Reply

Caustica
I'm not in the IB years yet, but from what I know, the maximum class size is supposed to be 16. Supposed to be. But I'm studying my GCSEs right now, and although the maximum class size is supposed to be 26, my Economics class has... 27. DUN DUN DUN.
