How many IB courses does your school offer?

Globe

Recommended Posts

At my school, pretty much everyone going for the diploma has to take the same courses, as we only offer Math SL, Physics SL, English HL, Bio HL, Film SL and HL, English HL, History SL/HL, Spanish SL and Env. Studies SL. (this is only our 3rd year of offering IB)

It aggravates me as I want to go into evo devo and neuropsych so a Philosophy or Psychology HL course would be awesome. Or even Chem HL, I love chemistry.

Does your school offer every IB course?

I think I posted this somewhere else, but I'll post here anyways.

My school offers:

Group 1: English A1 HL/SL

Group 2: French B SL

Group 3: Economics HL/SL, History HL/SL, Philosophy SL

Group 4: Biology HL/SL, Chemistry HL/SL, Physics HL/SL

Group 5: Math HL/SL, Computer Science HL/SL

Group 6: Music HL/SL, Visual Arts HL/SL

I guess my school has decent options compared to other schools I've seen, but there are schools out there who offer a ton more :)

Edit: My school has offered IB for 12 years.

This is the third year my school has offered the IB. I'm not very satisfied with the courses they offer in individuals and society though, they lack a lot of depth in choices.. but then again we also lack teaching experience in those specific subjects.

Blah I hate you! Italian is my best language and I love it.

Still more than I have! Teaching experience isn't the problem with my school. Just most of our teachers have yet to get certified for their respective IB courses, so we can't offer them at the IB level yet. We have a huge psychology room with a nursery and whatnot but the teacher isn't certified yet :/

I speak Italian fluently. I wish I could have taken it as B HL.

I wish I could have taken Spanish B for that matter. I'm still so frickin' pissed off.

Fantastico! Parlo multi italiano! Ma non parlo correntemente D:

Sonno multi migliore a spagnolo :)

Group 1: English A1 HL.

Group 2: French B HL (For immersion students), Italian Ab Initio. We used to offer French B SL, but that was discontinued.

Group 3: History (Europe) HL.

Group 4: Biology SL (though in practice, the whole Biology class generally takes HL), Biology HL, Chemistry SL, Chemistry HL.

Group 5: Maths SL

Group 6: Music SL. Music HL is offered when an exceptionally able student wants to take it. This has happened twice so far, to my knowledge. Oh, I believe Theatre Arts SL was offered for one year, but the one who taught that vowed never to teach it again because of the paperwork.

My school has kind of biased their courses toward students who prefer the humanities and social sciences more than sciences, which really bothered me because I should not have been taking History HL, and I had wanted to take Physics HL instead of Biology, and Maths HL instead of SL. But, I had to live with what was offered, and my school's AP courses almost made up for the lack of IB choices (although I couldn't get into Calculus AB, so I have no math credits going into university.)

Allora non parli molto bene. Non è la tua lingua migliore.

Si puo vedere che non sai l'italiano cosi bene come lo spagnolo. Spero che studi un sacco per arrivare a un livello molto alto.

OMG your school offers six languages A1 including Spanish and French. Now I just want to cry.

Group 1: English A1, Slovak A1

Group 2: English A2, French B, French ab, German B (1 student!), German ab

Group 3: Economics

Group 4: Biology, Chemistry

Group 5: Math, Math Studies

Group 6: Visual Arts

It's ok for me because I would've chosen those anyway except that I wanted to take another humanity as a group 6, maybe even HL (b&m, history, psychology, philosophy whatever would be nice) but now I have to take another A1. . And both HL/SL are in the same classroom for first year.
